    What was the problem? You say you checked for leaks but you don't say how? That would be helpful.

    I came here to see this because I set mine up a few days ago and my tires are here now, it's been sitting out my slab outback like a ridiculous Christmas tree. I went ahead and busted a pile of car tires off rims that I was collecting and the car tire part works , sort of LOL. I Bent the crap out of the bead breaker pipe because it is just really weak but it;s still working, I mean It was ten car tires on jacked up aluminum rims ( to take in for scrap ) . But the motorcycle part was a complete mystery! I don't have that skinny part that you put down the center, did that come with yours? Mines just got the big red one that screws in and it aint going to fit in that axle hole. I winder what the heck they were thinking about with the red pole deal. So you showed me EXACTLY WHATS UP with this thing! Thanks man! I gotta a lot of fabricating to do on this looks like. LOL first off I need to get a collection of axle size rods for all these bikes and Thread them on one end so they fit that top. I think that would make it way better eh? and I gotta do something about that weak bead braker, The blade works ok but ya gotta get it to where the pos arms on the blade are perfect vertical with the rim because it will bend left or right before that bead breaks loos on a tough one. PLUS weird that the bead breaker doesn't seem to be made for motorcycle tires, I mean, it doesn't fit like it does for car tires. There is a bonus though, it says for R15 and smaller But I have down 17" and 18" on mine already. Today I am going to put my tires on my Goldwing GL1500. The way my luck is I will be busy with that all damned day! but it's in the shade and Modelo is on sale for 13.99 a case! Ha! Like you were saying 2 years ago here, They want too much for tire install, It's 60.00 a Tire here If you Buy from the cycle shop and even more if you bring your own tires for install and even after all that $$ you have to wait a week! I got my whole set up ( even the wheel balancer for car wheels ) for 40.00 all knew from a guy who said fk this thing! he listed it on craigslist and no one wanted it so he just got lower and lower. I think it really is a lame machine but it is also a great start if you can swing some mods at it. I think some rubber baby buggy bumpers on those Rim clamps would be nice for one, and a pad to lay down so the rotors don't get jacked up on the concrete , find a Nice fat , thick steel pipe to replace that one on the breaker and drill it for the pins , and batter ins also, maybe grade 8 bolts with wing nuts. Mines already bent to shit. and then your idea also with that skinny rod make one with the threads on it to fit in the machine and an adapter for the top to keep it like it should be. Drill, weld , Grind! WooooooHooooooo Mines already made it's money back in aluminum! LOL Thanks again Man! Oh Yeah, I seen some actual Duck head type things that work real well, I was thinking maybe seeing if I could scrape one of those up or make one.

    Greetings from Lally Broch Farm in Maine! Ive been looking for ideas to handle the rats on my goat farm and this PVC idea is intriguing. Ill have to modify it because I need to clear out over 100 rats in my barn so Ill link the pipe to a larger metal cage to collect many at a time hopefully. How did it work for you?

    Sorry, but this was painful to watch. I bought mine used and have changed over a dozen tires with it. The couple of mods I did were simple. The tabs that grab the rim I bent inward so the rim can’t lift when clamped in place. Then I cut radiator hose and slipped it over each one with a portion of the hose flapping inward to cradle the rim. No more scratches or slipping. A 4x4 replaced the steel piece for breaking the bead, and a 2x4 bolted to the base prevents metal to metal, also to prevent scratches. I use a couple Irwin quick-grip bar clamps to hold the bead in the valley opposite the bar, and finally, I did spend more than I did for the whole machine on a bar from No-Mar with the polyethylene tips, the bar that comes from Harbor is just plain crude.

    I have to same unit and it blows cold air and the hose takes out he hot air, But it doesn't cool down the air for 5 hours..I have a 2 inch space under the door and have 10 foot ceiling. The room is 13' x 17' any suggestions?

    • @firstlast-pt5pp
      @firstlast-pt5pp 3 місяці тому

      the room is under the roof? It's likely not insulated well. Single hose ac will cause the room to pull air in ( in your case, hot air around the roof).

    Dude that rotor being so close to the ground or even touching the ground while you were showing how to break the bead, that’s just asking for a rotor replacement But seriously, I’ll just keep taking it to my friends shop for $25 a tire instead of having to deal with all this shit. And still gotta balance the wheel too, fuck all that noise. I’ll keep going to my friend until I buy my own tire machine

    Ill stick with 15€ per tire every couple of years VS our man here sweating bullets and standing on the rotor.

    Ignore the haters. You did good. The people whining about scratches don’t realize that the clamps, mount/demount bar, and everything is metal on metal with this tool anyway. It requires significant modification and expense for this machine to change tires without scratching… literally to the point where a value-conscious operator would strongly consider a No-Mar/Cycle Hill changer for several hundred more or continue taking it to a shop with a tire machine. People need to realize that this whole setup was around 64 bucks back when it was still available and you just aren’t going to get the tool they want at that price. It obviously exists for a reason so they just need to accept that some people will tolerate scratches to save hundreds/thousands. The Harbor Freight Pittsburgh machine is the issue here. The center post doesn’t even fit large Harley wheels and the overhead stabilizing arm can’t support itself properly without that. After Harbor Freight revised it to eliminate the hooks over 15 years ago the rim clamps don’t actually clamp anything down. Even so, you have to wrench them tight enough to mar the finish since there is nothing else to keep it from turning. Get a Mojolever and install Mojoblocks if you want to use this machine without scratching anything. Use large zip ties or ratcheting tie-down straps to keep the wheel from turning. There is a kit to modify it for a duckhead from KBJUnlimited but the total cost will balloon out of control when you go that route making you ask why you started with the HF machine at all (“Duckhead” refers to a part adapted from a professional tire machine to be used with this manual tire changer).

    This guy seems like he has no idea what he's doing that poor rim is probably scratched to hell I wouldnt let this guy change my bicycle tire let alone my motorcycle tire I get that your trying to show how the machine works but without experience and a little professionalism your doing a disservice to the product I have changed thousands of tires in my career im sure that product will get the job done. But is way too flimsy do a good job the beade breaker should have a spring on it to keep it off the rim when not being used and the height of it works against you

  • @georgejameson9317
    @georgejameson9317 Рік тому

    Probably should set the rim on a couple of wood blocks rather than throw the brake disc on the concrete floor.

    First off, that tire had no business rolling several thousand miles ago! Second, you had to have put at least 20 scratches all over the rims, spokes and hub. Third, pliers on the stem nut? You can afford a Harley, but not deepwell sockets? Just...wow. Get a new hobby, please!

    • @pbattis1
      @pbattis1 Рік тому

      Perhaps he found the tire and rim and is only changing tire to make the video and demonstrate the machine.

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 Рік тому

      @@pbattis1Also, many people deliberately burn out their old rubber just before a hanging tires. Thought the funeral home was on fire earlier today until I saw that it was a bunch of riders who lost their companion doing it in remembrance or something. That said, it’s OK to push it when you commute daily as a straight shot on the freeway/interstate. I certainly did.

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 Рік тому

      Elitist gatekeeping. The Harbor Freight motorcycle tire changer is not a No-Mar tire changer and he never billed it as such. You’re here worried about the stem nut when the mount/demount bar is literally metal on metal. If there weren’t people willing to scratch their rims to save mounting fees then the tool wouldn’t exist. My rims were damaged enough by road hazards to the point where I was worried it might damage the mount/demount head on a shop’s tire machine when I bought mine (one rim had a deep cut in the lip). I got the dents fixed by a professional and began changing my own tires with the same machine.
