My fishing trips based out of San Diego County. Shore fishing, float tube fishing, party boats, private boats and more. My main target species are Spotted Bay Bass, California Halibut, California Barracuda, and Pacific Bonito, but I'm always up for something different.
Last Trip of 2024
My last 2 trips rolled into one video. First day was a tough rockfish bite with a lot of undersized rockfish. Second day we had bad wind which delayed going out for rockfish but once we got on them, we filled bags quickly.

We head back out to the 9 mile and get FAST limits on the 420 gram Nomad Streaker knife jig.
Deep Rockfish Re Opener

We're going back to deep drops for rockfish. CA laws have allowed rockfishing over 50 fathoms after Oct. 1st while prohibiting rockfishing in less than 50 fathoms, so we're out targeting them with BIG knife jigs and double dropper loops with 20 ounce weights.
Ridge Road First Timer

Took my friend out to Ridge Road out on the Otay Truck Trail. She's never gone offroading before and she's afraid of heights, so I hit it a little faster than I normally would.
Bittersweet Yellowtail

No much in the way of quantity, but we did get a Yellowtail. Had to battle some sea lions getting em in but was able to boat flip em.
Sand Bass Spawn

Headed down to IB to get in on the Barred Sand Bass spawn. Boat got limits, the bait with the most success was a double rig with 2 tube baits.

Took my son Joseph out on the NSF to celebrate my birthday. Got on the calico's really well. All mine came off the A-rig, his came on a 7" MC Viejo swimbait in red. All in all, had a great birthday out there with my friends.
Nice spotty looks like! Is that the pier by ferry landing? Cheers chef
@dunpit3925 yeah it is.
Yea bro 😎
Bro! 🎉nice I’m sure I’ll see you this upcoming season
I’m sorry for your loss brother.
Thanks man. I was given some of his ashes that I keep on my keys so I can take him on all my adventures.
Sick shirt playboy !
I have a question for you about the Tranx. During a cast the line guide is static and the line peels off at different angles against the guide. Does the feed off the spool sync up again perfectly during retrieval and if it does how long does it take ?
I've never had an issue with any of my shimanos (chronarch, curado 300, tranx 400 and 500) and the level wind. The level wind stays static on all of them and I don't recall any bunching up in several years of heavy usage. I'm not sure if any level wind from any brand still has the guide follow the line as it comes off the spool. I remember I had a couple that used to decades ago but I think most brands have a disengaging level wind. Hope that answers your question. Feel free to ask follow up questions.
Bittersweet indeed homie🥰👊🏼. RIP Uncle Frank🙏❤️ Luv ya brother! Maybe next time a lil heads up on the 🧅🥷 so I can watch before I do my makeup. 🤨
Hey man, it was a surprise for me too. I recorded the intro like 2 weeks after all this lol
Sorry for your loss 💔
Love that picture at the end of the video
sorry to hear that jessie...its good that you had somebody that meant so much to you dood... rip uncle frank...
Sweet!
“Terribly fun” 🥰🤣
Yaaaassss🤣🥰
Awesome video.....TightLines!!!!
Let’s go!
where
La Jolla Cove
Noice!
I seriously thought you were trying to hook a seal at the start lol. Nice little meal ;)
The sea lions were THICK. In the video I'm putting out later on this week I actually hit a sea lion with a surface iron. He kept jumping into my line multiple times and bumped my iron twice. Dude was a menace
Hell ya 👊🏼❤️
That looks like a black drum, if it is then that's an expensive fish.
These are Barred Sand Bass. No drum here to my knowledge, but we have similar fish called croakers
Where can I get a umbrella like that
I use a Warbaits War Rig, you can visit their site and order straight from them or find a store that sells their products. I believe Tackle Warehouse carries them too. Several companies are selling Alabama/Umbrella rigs now, just be sure to check your local regulations on how many hooks you're allowed to have
@@Trouble619Fishing GRACIA'S 😎😎
What size?
I use the 6 inch SP Minnow but I also have all three sizes
just missed you bud......back in Tucson. but fished last Tue, Wed, Thurs.....maybe next time
I tried to head out last Wednesday too but the PM and twilight were both full lol
Is it wide open in La Jolla rn?
Yeah it's fairly wide open. Idk if the boat got limits yesterday when I went out but I got a limit of keepers, and 18 total. I'm sure I released a few that were legals
@@Trouble619Fishing nice
Garbage dad
Let me guess you’re driving a Toyota
That looked like a lot of fun. 11:46
It's so much fun out there. The main trail is super easy but the offshoots will range in difficulty.
What kind of car do you have?
I drive a stock Gen 3 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad.
Cool video but what is a target / keeper fish? don't see any coming over the rail
California barracuda got to be 28” inches to keep. Shorts got to be released.
We were initially targeting Calico bass which need to be 14 inches but they didn't really want to play. We got into a school of barracuda, and if I remember correctly the boat got 3 legals, with me catching one of those. California barracuda have a 28 inch minimum size limit.
even in stock configuration its amazing how well these newer vehicles wheel! the traction control, and lack of wheel spin is cool!! looks like fun. Brett Also, we call those little brush scrapes "Arizona pinsripes"
We call em pinstripes too. I don't have em too bad except on the plastic fenders but those are cheap to replace
good job trouble!!!!!
gotta love the New Seaforth crew....great job!!!
Beautiful video, I enjoyed every moment, champion.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Hoping I can get these out once a week.
sick knife jig biters
When are you going out again? Maybe I’ll see you there Brett
Maybe last week of May or first week of June. Restaurant has bee. Super busy lately and it's hard to get out
Bro can’t wait to see you this year on the seaforth new truck is nice hope your ok from accident. Bad back doesn’t help the chef life 😅 later bro from chef dave
I was uninjured from the accident. I actually drove the Benz all the way home from around Clairmont when I hit whatever it was. Most of the damage was in the steering/suspension that had to be replaced.
You literally put on a clinic that day
Were you cruising at Trouble? That’s what I’m doing also, except in SoAz… Looking for deer😁 I’ve seen you on New Seaforth, but didn’t know who you were at the time, I’ll make sure to introduce myself next time!
I was at Otay Truck Trail. It's kinda like my home trail. Might post some more videos of my trail stuff when I'm not fishing. I'll be headed back out on the NSF in a week or two. Be sure to day what's up if you see me and I can try to get you on a video.
50 lb set up on a 3lb fish.
Yeah, that's my yellowtail setup lol but I seem to be doing this all backwards. Catching Calicos on the YT gear and Yellows on the bass gear (in my pfp)
lots of work, but fun> And good fillets!
Heck of a lot of fun. Most of my rockfish goes to my coworkers for ceviche, they've been bugging me all year cuz they don't know that the season doesn't open back up until April 1st.
A lot of work for fish that size.... be well.
Yeah, low gear helps a whole lot. Figure about 25-30 drops per session at 600-800 feet, bringing up a minimum of 1 pound of lead each time.
its always a good day fishing, especially on the NSF!!!
Thank you for video. What charter did you use?
I fish on the New Seaforth out of Seaforth Landing.
looks like a good time,,,,love the New Seaforth,,,best half day boat for sure,,,
I was on this trip also. Nice meeting you. Tight lines!
Did you make it in the video?
All that just to catch bait, cool
yep..... NSF boys are the bomb....love hanging out with them,,Brett
Nice fishing with you buddy
Always a pleasure fishing with fun dudes.
Youll find with circle hooks just winding up will set the hook better than you trying to set it “ like a bass” . Also theres some off set longer shank hooks that are better for deeper rock fishing . They are called easybaiters 🤙 looks like you did good tho !
It's more of a reflex thing thing to "set the hook." 70% of the time I'm not even paying attention to my rod and my eyes are wandering off, the camera really lies with the downward angle lol
Not much point in releasing them when they're dead, bro. May as well keep them and eat them, even if they're a bit on the small side. And Don't give me that "Oh they're fine, they just swim back down and recover" when they have barometric trauma with their swim bladder blown way out of their mouth. 🤣
The small ones get fed to the pelicans. No one is going to waste their time fileting a 6 inch fish.
