Elvis came to Bastrop, Louisiana with the Louisiana Hayride in the 1950s. After the show, Elvis and some of the others went to Arlie's Cafe to eat. A local man (I knew him later) somehow got on Elvis's bad side and they went outside where the local guy got whipped pretty badly!

This is like most people, sitting around telling stories. You’ll find military, cops, nurses, doctors, your jobs … sitting around ‘shooting tge breeze’. No one needs to be ‘worshipping’ a man. He was handsome, beautiful voice, troubled man. The way people ‘worshipped’ him was very wrong. These guys are telling their ‘war’ stories, nothing less.

I understand them reminiscing about these things together privately but I hate how they spent the rest of their lives telling all of these bad stories, writing tell all books looking for a quick buck. He was human like all of us, let him rest in peace.

People forget. He wasn’t imprisoned. And he wasn’t a superstar at the time anymore. And he hadn’t had a hit in years. He was on his way out. And he knew it too. He was washed up. That and the pills made him crazy. But his death made him a star again. And nostalgia restored his fame.

Gotta love all the bs comments by simps who didn't know him. Keep sticking up for a loose cannon who was also a womaniser, the younger the better, drug addicted, egotistical guy who got lucky but couldn't even keep up with his own fake image😂. But any who.... long live the real king...Little Richard who could not only write his own music but was also a real entertainer. Elvis was a fkn joke! 🙌

Joe Esposito was the only one around Elvis with any brains who seemed to actually do his job. Elvis didn't need half of these guys hanging around doing nothing collecting a paycheck and eating his food!! The rest including his own father were all leeches. And look Jerry Schilling is even still lurking around. He and Priscilla,,, Elvis's "Virgin" wife who slept with a guy Elvis knew, several times so he would introduce her to Elvis!!! If Lisa Marie's daughter. isn't smart, her grandmother just might snatch Graceland out from under her!! Elvis was a naive, big hearted country boy. He was a soft touch, surrounded by users!!!

I met Elvis, Red and Sonny West at a private party at the Hyatt in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 19th, 1977, following his concert at Stokely Athletic Center at The university of Tennessee. The mother of my girlfriend at the time, was from Memphis and she was dating one of Elvis’s doctors. I was just standing there, in a beautiful hotel suite, and this trio comes walking in… Elvis shook our hands and said: “Hello, I’m Elvis Presley.” I was so shocked, I was speechless. Just a few days earlier, I had seen Red West as Sgt. Micklin in an episode of Bah, Bah Blacksheep on TV. It was so surreal. Elvis Presley, introducing himself, to a 20 year-old college kid. I was stunned.

When you in company of SAME people 24/7 ridiculous disagreements ARE going to happen, more so when ANY medications are involved, as you are simply Not yourself/out of balance, everyone NEEDS their own space, some more than others, I imagine that is why certain part of Graceland was off limits to anyone but Elvis, & lisa, but even so, EVERY day would be within quite a Group of people, i couldn't abide that myself & before long frequent annoyances stifled would buil & build until you'd explode at a seemingly insignificant annoyance, i'm like that myself, but i don't have to nor choose to be around a group of people most of the time, Elvis sort of had to, as he couldn't have a "normal" existance with the Huge fame, there were no doubt many who intended him harm, which would be another factor in his lifestyle. He seemed very "Balanced" in every way around 68 comeback & seemed to rapidly change with vegas years, 3 shows or more each day cannot be much fun for long & would quickly bring you down.

The reason Ty Cobb was the first person in the HOF was because they were inducted in alphabetical order. If Babe Ruth's name was Babe Booth, he would have been the first inducted.

Ty Cobb stands alone alone as the greatest MLB player that ever lived for one reason. I knew the man. Ty simply could not conceive of trying/competing any less than the best that a baseball player could envision given any opportunity. Say what you will...

If I were to pick friends between Elvis or Red West and the guys, it would be the boys not Elvis. I mean Red West was involved with Robert Conrad in The Wild Wild West. Black Sheep Squadron, Road House. Sure there's no denying how great was the talent of Elvis up to 1969 but drug addiction destroyed him.

Aloha from Hawai was in 1973, Red West met Conrad due to Elvis; even his wife he met her due to Elvis. Without Elvis he's nobody. Who knows what these guys really did behind closed doors ?

@lillyd2246 Good morning. I couldn't find when Red West first met Bob Conrad. Red played one of the bad guys throughout the Wild Wild West TV series 1965-1969. Reds involvement was 1967-1969. Like you said Red married in 1961 more than likely because of Elvis and more than likely met Bob when he was filming that Hawaiian show.
