UFC 5 Online Career: Starter Guide 2024
Would like to see some of your matches with your commentary/analysis!
I been recently "working" my jab in game in the sense that i wouldnt give my opponent time to breathe between lowering their head health It was really having good effect, and in most cases a obvious snowball appeared Leading to a clean ko (no ground and pound) I would say this is highly effective so long as you keep in mind not to trade with it so much as you just pressure with it This video was giving me some new techs to use with this
Fight Night Champion was such a great boxing game, but the straight right haymaker was way too overpowered. It caused reliable flash knockdowns. In that game you could get a rare instant KO, or you can get up a total of four times. Not many players can pull off the 4th get-up. So the meta became to build a max height, max power boxer and spam leaping straight rights. I got really good at head movement, chaining counter-punch combos against these guys. This lead to a 10 round fight where my opponent threw 71 punches. Only 7 landed for 4 flash KOs and an instant KO for the finish. Meanwhile, I landed 87 counter punches (you could do a double counter-punch combo off the hook). I literally land more counters than the guy threw punches. I landed another 130 or so punches, for something like 200 lands in 250 punches in a 10 round fight. It was over 80% accuracy versus below 10% accuracy. But simple broken game design game the guy who threw literally one type of punch, no matter how hard he got countered for it.
The power straight in FNC was criminal. I never understood how players could enjoy only throwing one punch. Still a great game despite it though.
@@Yawkley The straight thing was compounded by the hitboxes seemingly not mattering to the physics. His thumb brushes an inch from your ear and it still sends you to the mat with the identical impact to a square hit. I'm desperate for a Fight Night sequel, though. FNC had a similar problem like you showed here. Let's say you stumble them, they back to the ropes, maybe wiff a desperate haymaker and you land a 6 punch combo, except the first one knocks them out. The other 5 huge punches in that combo just don't count, and because every knockdown is pretty much identical, he can stand up in 2 seconds flat. I haven't enjoyed the latest UFC games, actually. I still prefer to play UFC 3 and even 1 to the newer ones.
@@Valchrist1313 I think 3 had the best overall feel. I wanted Undisputed to fill the void of fight night, but the mechanics just aren't there. Hope we can see another fight night game in a few years.
What a phenomenal video. Do you have another channel or anything? It feels like a waste to have this level of editing, script writing, knowledge, and charisma be used only on UFC 5 once a month
I only have the one channel. I wish I could upload faster, in fact I intended to have a video out a few weeks ago but real life has been kicking my ass lately. My videos are pretty labor intensive, but I'm also very inefficient right now. I've been tinkering with video editing for around a year now and I could do a lot to improve my workflow and overall skill. I do have ideas for other games/topics and I would like to do some slightly more ambitious videos in the future. Whether that's on this channel or a new one I don't know as of yet. I'm glad you liked the video, I appreciate the feedback as I'm in a weird place where I can see I'm doing some things right, but I also find more to criticize in my videos as I slowly gain more editing knowledge.
Do evolution points reset with every new season?
No. The only thing that resets with the season is your division rank. Your fighter keeps all of their evo points/moves/perks
@@Yawkley appreciated! 🤝
Had this pop up in my feed despite not having touched UFC5 in a while and ended up binging all your videos, really well done and the quality gets better every video. Great work, got my sub for sure.
Thanks for the sub. I've heard good things from a lot of people who barely play the game anymore. Of course I still play but TBH I'm more interested in getting better at editing videos than I am in getting better at UFC 5 these days. The older videos are certainly a bit shabbier, it wasn't until recently that I sort of figured out how to structure a video.
@@Yawkley Well, you got me to reinstall it at least.
@@RagnellAvalon My sincere apologies
@@Yawkley 🤣
Nicely structured, right to the point and easy to understand video. Feels almost scientific. Huge thanks for putting this out!! Subscribed✌️
Thank you. I do better with a tactic if I have a thorough understanding of it, it seems other people feel the same way. Thanks for the sub!
the guy you play at 2:30am on a losing streak:
If I'm playing at 2:30am I'm probably the one on a losing streak. Get ready for 30 flying knees in a row.
i dont play ufc. sick video tho lol
I like to hear that as I did put effort into making the video look and feel decent. What made you click on it if you don't play UFC. What did you like about it? If you don't mind me asking.
@Yawkley im a bit of a fan of fighting and fighting games, was thinking of a game called toribash which is having an mma phase community wise and found this on the other end of a boxing rabbithole.
I think the part about building a tailored combo for your opponent from single strikes to block breaking/anti movement combos is something i've never heard mentioned so explicitly and can be useful in a lot of fight settings, i'm trying to curb a tendency to overcommit rn and replace it with paying attention, and i figure many are
@@thenewninja4726 It's interesting how you can go down these little rabbit holes and wind up on other games. I had never heard of toribash. I've never been much good at other fighting games. Maybe someday I'll go give some others another try and see how much carryover there is.
beautiful video man i’ve been playing ufc since 3 and im pretty sure experienced and i can definitely say you just broke down my whole mindset
I started in 3 too and it took me a while to work out a mindset for combination punching rather than just throwing set "good" combos.
you just need to b in an mma gym at least once didn’t get passed a minute in the video but I’m sure it’s the same basis
As someone who plays ufc maybe once every other month with friends, I will use this information
bruh what you know about Daisuke that track fire
100%
Core A gaming of sports fighters?😂😂😂 this channel looks promising you should cover the undisputed titles.
I hardly play classic fighting games but I do like Core-A. I'm still new to video editing, not sure I could make videos that slick.
Bro playing ufc like its tekken lol, nice vid!
said the same shit lol dope vid
lol, I'm trash at tekken. UFC/Boxing games are the only fighting games that make sense to my brain.
Exactly what’s wrong with this game
Deserves way more like 😊
:)
Need a defensive video!
Absolutely, I'm going to do one fairly soon that will be a comprehensive striking defense guide. But It might be another few weeks
The production quality on this is awesome, subscribed
Thanks for the sub! I won't lie I do like hearing that people like the production quality as I spent a lot of time on this one.
I don’t even play UFC 5 but this is such a great explanation for striking martial arts in general
I'm definitively not qualified to be a striking coach. I enjoy incorporating real life logic where the game allows, but this is definitely focused on the systems of the game. Glad you liked it anyway though!
@ too late, you’re listed in my class action lawsuit 😂 nah but similar concepts apply, go low to open up high
@@700superstion007 😅😅
supremely underappreciated.
I feel pretty adequately appreciated on this one.
Phenomenal video that helps as a beginner a lot. Keep up the work 🙏
👍
This is like exactly it.
It's very nearly it. It-adjacent
That ending is perfect exactly true for me I know about this a lil obviously but never understood why combos work the way they do
I was that way for a long time in UFC 3. There are a lot of strikes and a lot of combos, but they all do serve a purpose. When you understand the role that linear/round strikes have in block breaking a lot of it starts to make sense.
@ bro to me this is how combos work in real life man I appreciate this information a lot
This is a good basic video for combos in real life good job man
it’s crazy how similar yet different the game is from real life
I don't think perfect realism is always ideal for a game like this. We need some leeway for ease of use, but I wouldn't mind having a series with a little more depth.
@ it’s really hard to encapsulate the real complexities of fighting in a fun game which is why it’s usually simplified like this
The difference is in real life fighters throw about 20-30 strikes a round, and in this game they throw 120 strikes in 3 minutes, lol. A lot of this is legit, but most of it video game nonsense.
I can’t believe this dude just made me wanna play this dog 💩 game again.
I should add a disclaimer that these videos are for people who still have the disease. If you've gotten clean you should try not to relapse.
im a beginner on ufc 5, and this video absolutely helped me, i still need to learn much more about the game itself, but this video is perfectly for a beginning, thank you bro
Happy to help. These games can be very hard to get into for newer players and anything that can help clarify the thought process is a good thing. I've heard from people at multiple skill levels that the video helped them, which makes me happy.
@@Yawkley keep it up The good work bro, you are a legend
Love this
Please do some gameplay videos!!
We need a combo video!
What are your go to combos?
I try not to think in terms of go-to combos, I assume my opponent will counter me if I get predictable. 1-2-3, 1-3-2, and 3-2-3 are often in the mix, but I'm usually trying to tailor the combo towards their reactions.
@ I would love to watch your gameplay and maybe breakdowns?
@@Jmonkey8o8 I'm focusing my energy on these sorts of edited videos right now. I don't foresee doing more live commentary type stuff right now
@ aw poop. I would love to see it. In the meantime, is there anyone you would suggest watching?
@@Jmonkey8o8 It's an obvious choice but RomeroXVII has long been one of the best players and youtubers, I've learned a lot from watching him.
I love how much detail you get into.
I assume at this point in the game's life cycle players know the basics (what button to push), but I think it's always useful to have some more context and a strategy.
@ love it !!!
This is awesome
Thank you
I love this
I'm glad you did
Wow😮
👍
i swea i be thinking like this shit really a chess game should do a video on timing to expand on this
Timing is a big part of the game, and would make for a good video. Only thing is it's a bit fuzzy as a concept, hard to break down into hard rules. A lot of it comes down to experience and game sense which are hard to transmit.
I feel like i would have to watch this video 50 times to understand it fully good job man
I think I could have done a little better explaining then. I tend to overcomplicate some things, but unless you do a perfect job you're either going to over-complicate or over-simplify.
Wasting your time on such a horrible game
It's a horrible game, it's a horrible sport, but we've all got to waste our time some way.
Thank you so much 👍👍👍
NP, happy to provide a resource
"The reward is the ability to go back to the Simplicity of the jab, cross, lead hook." Warmly put, I must add
I do find it very satisfying to play cat and mouse between my shot selection and the opponent's head movement for a few rounds so I can land a well timed jab cross lead hook at the end of the fight. It's satisfying moments more so than wins that keep me coming back to the game.
How do you only have 1.8k subs? Great video man.
To be fair I have a very slow upload schedule and basically all of those subs came in the last 60 days. I'm surprised I have as many as I do.
ufc undisputed 3
This is one of the coolest UFC videos ever released. Great job!
Ah shucks, you're nice to say so.
This is a great video! I've been playing UFC 5 since it came out and I totally resonate with 'understanding the concepts implictily' but this added much more depth to my striking
I think people are pretty good at figuring out what works, understanding why something works is the interesting part to me.
brother, you are a genius. i thought i was the only one who over thought on why i do what i do on ufc 5 combo & movement wise. content like this would of helped me heavily 3 years ago getting into ufc 4🔥
Same for me when I was picking up 3, I found bits and pieces of what I wanted on youtube, I just wanted to get a systematic approach in one video. I still left some things out but I think this communicates the basic thought process
@ you summed everything perfectly man. I always subconsciously did things in this game that were working but I never really understood why I did them and why they worked. I also think watching my own fights that were good helped out with seeing why I did certain things and what I should do more or less of. but yea, i’m really bad at knowing when I should implement leg kicks so i’m gonna check that video out now man. Love the content tho, your channel deserves more attention for sure💯🤙🏽
@@rellocozy I think i did ok explaining leg kick timing, but to me leg kicks are beautiful and you must follow your heart with them
Ngl think might help me with actual sparring 😂 Could you make a video on combinations with slips/rolls/blocks/parry
I am 100% not liable if you get rocked in the gym due to my video game advice. To be clear. I'm working on a video on striking defense which will cover evasion and counters. There will be a section on using head movement to end an exchange.
I didn't know ufc 5 had baby fg players like that, lol imagine getting mixed and getting mad you got mixed
This feels like a natural geographic video but for ufc 5, awesome video very well put together
Once I perfect my David Attenborough impression it's over for every other youtuber
you should play ufc undisputed forever
I’m going to study tf out of this video 😂
I'm happy to encourage people to study the important things in life.
