Omg I remember this vhs tape when I was a kid
Those soldering Irons are beautiful. I'd give my leftnut for one like that
What's Wayne been up doing for all these years? He's one of my idols in the hobby
Great episode and still relevant today. I just did this same procedure, and it works great 🤘🚂🤘
Brings back a lot of memories. This was what? 1982-83?
Sweeeet. 😮 Nice layouts!
Only three comments? Such an excellent presentation. I only wish I'd seen it as a kid in the hobby back in the mid 80's. We used to take phone wire and twist it around the terminals of toggle switches for simple sidings. Of course, we had very limited funds at the time as well. Thanks, Bruce, for your excellence in the hobby and for giving us all something to strive for.
The Furlows drove a datsun 620, makes me love them even more. I miss my 620.
I just love these “Timeless” How To Videos…I still have many Vintage Kalmbach Model Railroad How to Books and Model Railroader that I still enjoy paging thru…For me it’s a Step Back to those Innocent Childhood days…
I love these Vintage Railroading How To Books…I look for them every time I go to a Model Train Show….

Malcom’s wife was hot back in the day!
42:15 That E-110 is also now at IRM.
His wife was smokin Hot 🔥 ❤
I wish tv could be this cool and entertaining as the 50s thru the 80s were. Today's tv is disgusting and woke crap . Thanks for putting these up.
We come a long way with controllers in 30 years
Really love this series! Thank you very much for posting these, a real blast from the past for me!
my late father had this on vhs and we used to watch them for all the ideas that were going to use on our layout that didn't get finished but now that I got them to watch on UA-cam now I can get it done
Rick Shoupe, isn’t it?
👍
[good, Tuesday morning Jim thank, you for you're helpful video]👍
[thank, you for you're video]
[thank, you for youre video]👍
Thanks 🤩🤙🤩
I have watched this series at least 137 times. I wish you'd post more if you have any. The quality is ok with me i was raised on vhs so I understand. Thanks for sharing these
Bruce Chubb is a wizard 🤘🚂🤘
I'd give my left testicle for TV to have content like this. I miss the 80s so much.. 🤘🚂🤘
This was a blast from my past. I watched this series on public television back in the late 80's as a kid. I was in awe watching my model railroading heros instead of just seeing them in MR magazine. Thank you for posting!
I like this video, lots of rare footage and wonderful memories! Thanks for posting it.
Thank you!
Great show
Was Jim alive when taping this video...😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Too funny....Allen so serious... 14:31 ...."...that really looks nice" 😂😂😂
Fantastic acting by Allen Keller. Oscar worthy....
If you have any question how old this video is, just look at the brass track!!
RIP Malcolm

I grew up and live in Austin. The Cat Mountain was always a favorite on the layout tour when I was growing up. What is kind of funny to me is, that David was all about realism and making things look like a railroad and not a model railroad. For over 20 years now, the Cat Mountain has no scenery and is just a big switching layout. Nothing more then a big board game in my opion.
At the beginning, you just know that these two hooked up before going to the layout.
10:01 Can we stop and appreciate the sheer foresight of this line? Not only has Metra acquired quite a few locomotives from Amtrak over the years, but the F40's have become their standard. Not just in the same was the E's were decades before, but in the same way the F40's were for Amtrak when this was made
Thanks for these videos. These take me back to my teenage yrs .
Chuck is still waiting to lay some track down to this day 😂Great videos thanks
