I'm pretty sure I didn't stick the landing in terms of what I was trying to get at about societal norms and "limited editions" Both JPN and Amish have a short window of opportunity to "let loose" before being expected to concede to social norms.
Instead of being a carbon copy to the person next to you, the ability to have something of "limited availability" seems to make it even more desirable in JPN
And before I insert any more of my foot in my mouth, I'll just shut up.

sorry about the tangent into trademark law. I barely covered anything of the drink... because there's so little lore surround the drink or the company, making it.... innocuous. I'm somewhat at a loss of words for this. I think you need a certain level of nostalgia to let this one through, or the unbiased eye won't let it fly... it's probably similar to the peanut butter and jelly sandwich for americans, marmite or vegemite for Europeans and Australians, and natto for Japanese folks. the recipe is siimple enough to copy; if I had to sip this over time, I'd say the salt...

this hits different. you know how cherry coke or fruit calpis keeps the coke and calpis dna with added fruitiness? this kinda abandons this. the skal flavor barely comes through and only at the end. what is up with all these revival flavors? and these mello yello flavors at that? The happier side of me thinks they are innocent revival flavors, the cynic in me thinks some kind of chemical that was banned either got re-scheduled, or they managed to recreate the flavor with a different chemicals that aren't banned... I'd have to say, the "whisper" drink I had before this tasted more like what...

I just realized I already had Yellow edition a while back. I went back over my notes and it is the same recipe. I probably should have figured out "why" basil seeds turn into a gooey mess, but alas. The biggest holy cow moment was figuring out this stuff tastes just like those character erasers smell. Totally agree with you. There are a few more in this series I haven’t tried, but I’m convinced this series is just to showcase how bad the drinks are and make you want to buy the real expensive fruit

maybe. but the chalky aftertaste makes me think more calpis than the lactobacillus of yakult. finally found a bottle of mango skal! will review a little later as I have a few more already in the pipeline...

they've released the same drink last year. if you can get your hands on something called "melon soda" regardless of brand, this is the energry drink version of it
