Переглядів 3,5 тис.2 роки тому

I purchased the Cherokee in June of 2021 with 135k miles and so far I have installed a 3" lift and repaired/replaced the following: - Sway bar links - Ball joints - Adjustable track bar - Steering stabilizer - Tie rods - Drag link - L...

Barricade Roof Rack - Body Mount Installation
Переглядів 8 тис.4 роки тому
Hey Guys! Thanks for checking out my first video as I begin building my overland rig. In this video, we will be assembling the Barricade roof rack and doing a body mount installation. Hopefully, you will find this helpful or entertaining! Did you removecsoft top yet if so any problem with top hitting the rack
The O.G. beast
nice job I recommend you putting some silicone around the rear bolts holes you drilled so that no water or moister rusts out the metal.
Shoot. This is actually a great idea. Good thinking!!
Weld it
did you find a fix for the creaking?
Ehh, sort of. It’s mostly trial and error. Keep tightening over time. Another user commented about adding silicon to the bolts.
hows it holding up 2 years later rust?
was it with stainless steel hardware?
can that rack hold a roof top tent? weight wise?
After 7 Cherokees I think you did a great job especially with the rust but take rust free over cleanliness because fixing it as you learn is quite a pain
I was just given one of these but I’m hesitant to drill thru the body as I don’t know if I’m gonna keep it.
Take a chance on it! Worst case scenario you don’t do it right and you have to get some body armor to cover the holes. Biggest thing is marking the holes in the correct spot before you drill. Having a sharp bit on your drill also helps!
I absolutely love the XJ... Its a classic in its own right. I have had 3 of them 2 x 96 and a 2000 all eith the might straight 6 cyl. Im on the lookout for my next one. Enjoy the nee ride.
I love the XJ. I own 2. 1-4wd and 1- 2wd. Both are 1998. One has 272k miles and other has 397k miles. Parts are cheap and easy to replace. Their not the best on mpg but they are steel beast, not plastic or fiberglass. The 4.0 engine was designed to last longer then most marriages.

Any chance some knows if all visors are the same size for the jeep cherokee- my 19 old daughter inherited a 96 jeep cherokee- only 100,000 miles but it is missing the visors. We are working on fixing it up a bit. Thank you
Good question… I need replacements too. Might find some on eBay or some basic aftermarket ones on Amazon. Best bet is probably eBay if you want something factory.
Nice looking rig! I just had to do some welding underneath and had to pull out the carpet in my xj. I plan on putting some sound deadening in and getting new carpet throughout. There all sorts of xj over landing builds on UA-cam good luck!
Thanks man!! I love how big the XJ community is. No shortage of helpful resources. Good luck on yours too!
“How often am I going off-roading? Who knows if that’s going to happen.” But names the channel Wolf Off-road. Lmao. Not trolling, just picking fun.
We all have dreams man 😅
You man, are god!
Glad I can help 🤙
never thought about installing a roof rack on my 2 door. i came across your vid and now i want one! 😂
Yesss! You absolutely should! 👊
I threw up watching the vid due to you going around in circles.
very cool video, thinking of buying one too. Subscribed, hope to see some more videos off your Cherokee.
Thanks LJ! Hard to beat the Jeep XJ. I really want to put out more content, life just gets in the way sometimes. Hope to have more videos out soon! Cheers.
Would it work for a Suzuki Jimny ?
No, this roof rack is specifically built for the Jeep Wrangler.
@@Wolf_Off-Road ok thanks
hey man, where were you able to determine the roof loading capacity of your jeep? im installing a frontrunner extreme slimline II on the jeep wrangler rubicon 2 door MY22 but can't for the life of me find the recommended dynamic roof loading capacity so i can know how much i can safely stow on the top for camping. at the moment my setup is about 92kg including the slimline itself the slimline installs onto the roll cage and has the bars which come down onto the front bonnet like yours so the hardtop doesn't actually hold any of the load with it on
I was able to find my specs through the manufacturer. Best bet is to search around and see if there is a product guide anywhere. Worst case scenario you could always try to reach out to the manufacturer for more information. I can tell you that the rack I bought has a 159kg weight limit while driving and a 230kg static weight limit. Most racks should be able to handle your load. You got a nice one!! Hope that helps 👍
@@Wolf_Off-Road thanks mate, appreciate the reply!
Just purchased a 92 XJ Laredo 4.0L 4x4 You should go on Amazon and purchase the actual Chrysler repair, mine just came today.
Nice man!! I’ll check it out!
So I mounted mine to the bumper and like you said now I can't get my OEM rear bumper back on. Do you suggest mounting the rack the frame, I was worried it would compromise the weight capacity of the roof rack.
It does compromise the weight capacity with the direction I took (body mount), although you really don’t loose much. I preferred this method only because I liked my OEM bumper and didn’t want to buy a new one. If you’re comfortable taking measurements and drilling holes in the Jeep then I’d suggest that. Otherwise you have to buy a new bumper. Now if you do plan on buying a new bumper, by all means go with the frame mount!! Hope this helps 🤙
Be prepared to be disrespected from asshole jk,yj, wrangle and other Jeep owners just because you drive a Cherokee. It’s amazing how these Jeep owners seem to think it’s not a Jeep simply because it’s a Cherokee. I’m constantly running into these types of people everywhere I go so instead of having people to ride the trails with here in north Georgia my wife and I ride alone. The Cherokee will be an awesome ride once you get it the way you want it, enjoy your Cherokee my friend and welcome to the Cherokee family, the few and the proud we are for sure.
Lol most ignore mine and those that don’t, want one. I had a jk and it sucked. Mine’s also tucked away from another winter.
Thanks, man!! I appreciate the love. Best Jeep there is in my opinion.
This is amazing - a lot of people would've given up after encountering all the rust
I thought about it a few times lol
But is it trail rated!?
Oooo don’t know, they didn’t give us a badge till 04 👀
How does the top opening and closing function?
You can remove the top cross bars to allow for the roof to open/close
Awesome video, I’ve had this Moab unlimited since 2016 and I never really knew how to explain it to people when they asked me what it was.
Honestly same lol. I tell people it’s a crossover between the rubicon and Sahara. Best trim level imo. Glad you like it man! Cheers 🤙
What's the trick to get rid of the huge howling sound when your driving?
Hmm… good question. I never had a howling noise with mine. I had some squeaking though. Do you have a hard top or soft top?
You done a good job: you had no extr hands
You rock thanks so much. Definitely needed this video.
How hard is it to take the top back with the rack on?
Not too difficult! Those top cross bars simply unscrew and you can put them back on when you pull the roof back.
@@Wolf_Off-Road But once you have your top tent on, must be impossible to drop down the soft top? I like the model of the rack but I'm just wondering about droping the soft top.
Hi Brad, great vid! I’m looking at getting the same rack, and mounting to body same as you as I have a stock bumper with parking sensors. Do you know if mounting to body reduces the 350lb capacity compared with frame mount? Have you noticed any problems with body mounting as tkme has gone on? Cheers David
As far as I know it does not reduce the dynamic weight capacity. Static weight capacity is also still 500 lbs according to manufacturer specifications. After about a year with the rack I haven’t noticed any issues occurring. A little squeaking here and there but nothing abnormal. Regular tightening of the bolts is to be expected. Overall it was a great purchase decision. I hope this helps!!! Let me know if you have any other questions.
For those coming here for measuments 3.75” and 6” up from bottom of body for rear mounts!
Thanks for sharing this!
I have one of those 2013 moabs 2 door. I really like it
You have lockers and don't know what they are?! That "Axle Lock" button to the left of your steering wheel would cost several thousand dollar to add if you didn't already have it. You should learn more about lockers because they're kind of a big deal.
That’s wild. Thanks for letting me know! I have no idea what I’m doing 😄 I’m literally learning everything as I go.
Dude, i have this one as a jku dune color way 😎
Jambalaya looks so good! Have you tried deglazing it with some of the bourbon?
Dude I never thought of that!! I’ll have to try it one of these days 🤙 Thanks!
Looks awesome, man! Nice work!
