Muscle Music is proud to present vintage, one of a kind music videos featuring the Muscle Shoals Songwriter Showcase hosted by Mickey Buckins & Jerry McGee which ran for almost 6 years (1996-2002) at the Holiday Inn in Sheffield, Alabama. Many magical nights resulted & you can BE THERE by watching these videos. Some of these jam sessions are phenomenal & showcase the impromptu talents of the studio musicians that took part and made these nights so special. The songwriter stories are insightful & tell the stories behind their songs. Expect new videos weekly for a long time.
From the Muscle Music archives you will see different genres of music from all over the State of Alabama with many bands & artists represented. For a short time about 20 years ago, Muscle Music provided the web site AL.COM with a Band of the Week & many of those videos will appear here soon. There will also be some non-music videos. #MuscleMusic
Songwriters, if your song is covered here, please do YPP.

Paul Wexler Set 1
Paul Wexler & the Muscle Shoals version of WexWax featuring Barry Billings on guitar, Ronnie Eades on sax, James Counts & Max Miller on drums & Bob Wray on bass, with special guest James Pennebaker on guitar packed Champy's in Muscle Shoals on November 15, 2024. The good feel filled the building like the aroma of the great fried chicken.
Paul's father, Jerry Wexler an Atlantic Records executive, coined the phase "Rhythm & Blues", discovered "The Swampers" and brought Aretha Franklin & Bob Dylan & many others to Muscle Shoals to record can be credited with making the country find Muscle Shoals on a map.
MuscleMusic7 is the definitive video site for vintage Muscle Shoals music & has now felt compelled to start documenting current artists. I hope you enjoy this clip, subscribe to the channel and share with others. Thanks

"Sometimes It Sucks Being Me" Scott Boyer played many Thursdays for the Muscle Shoals Songwriter Showcase hosted by Mickey Buckins & Jerry McGee and he never sucked. This ole Cowboy settled in the Shoals where he fronted the dynamic band, The Decoys, and tutored a bunch of the Shoals' younger musicians. Enjoy! #ScottBoyer #muscleshoals

Scott Boyer, David Hood, Roger Hawkins, Kelvin Holly & N.C. With Maggie Rose's powerful vocals, Scott Sharrard & Kelvin Holly on their hot guitars, and Oteil Burbridge, Wayne Chaney & Justin Holder driving the groove this tribute to the Allman Brothers was awesome. Peter Levin added his touch on keys for FAME's 65th anniversary celebration at The Orion on October 5, 2024. #maggierose #allmanbrothers #fame
Thank you for capturing these shows for those of us unfortunate enough to not to live close to the Shoals.
Such a sweet voice, reminiscent of Deana Carter.
My vocal hero thank you Jim 🙏🏽🤎✌🏽✊🏽💐💐💐💐💐
Baby, you still got it!......singing those high harmonies.
Amazing 💥
Absolutely love this guy's music! And brings back memories of me in my Porsche with his music blaring in the background as I headed over to visit mom and dad in Birmingham!! Thanks again for connecting me with his music !!!!
Thank you so much, Tommy, your artistry and ability to capture us, our art and hearts means the world to me/us. Thank you for sharing your illustrious talents. So grateful! Shannon (and Eli!) Milliman
What a Wonderful band & Singer! Just saw Mike @ the Music Room in Yarmouth Massachusetts. Great stories in between songs. Lot's of Love
These guys were/are fantastic. Makes me sad that some are gone.
AWESOME AS ALWAYS!!!
❤❤
Hell Yeah
Thanks for sharing!
Great rendition of Respect Yourself.
Marvelous!!!!
Gary Nichols the famous geologist
Love hearing these lady's sing.
I always knew he had a magnificent voice; it's too bad that Jim never could make time for proper training - you can see that he keeps these pro musicians jumping, and it's not his fault - pro singers spend much of their lifetimes LISTENING to other singers "working," to familiarize themselves with the phrasing of songs they might sing someday. On simpler and more familiar material, Nabors could almost stop your heart with his singing. Thanks for sharing this special material.
Bringing back the memories "Muscle Music."...Just to let you know, this was the period we had the late great Billy Gallant on guitar, not Allen Park. Looks like you stayed till the end of the show. THX
@@botronicmusic Sorry I misnamed Billy Gallant.
@@MuscleMusic7 No worries. We all miss Billy & it was great to see him on that stage! I forgot about you filming this but had a flashback memory after plugging you (on the longer 1st set clip)
Such a lovely lady ...great back vocal singer she also provided back vocal under the "The Soultanas" for the hit Love Changes Everything from Climie Fisher(RIP)
Sounds like Clapton
24 years later, I wonder what these lady's are doing now?
Yes
Such a powerful song with a powerful voice.
So, this was a blast from the past 24 years later! The Cover Girls had a reunion dinner tonight, 9/23/24, when Kristee, one of the CG singers, shared this video of the band from our Zydeco show in Birmingham! I'm glad I gave you a plug in the middle of this. I had no idea this was out there. Thanks, Muscle Music, for the memories!
@@botronicmusic Jeff, so glad you found this clip. The girls & the band make this one of my favorite clips. I had boxes of tapes under my bed & during Covid decided to start a UA-cam channel to share these vintage videos. So glad you like it.
Great set, thanks for sharing.
my neighbors never sound like that
Man, what a great group of musicians. wow
holy crap this dude is uber talented
Wow, some great music, wish I lived closer, I'd be there every week.
Outstanding voice!!
Thank you for sharing this!
@@benbentley There are several early Jason clips on the channel @MuscleMusic7 Check out the Chris Tompkins clip & the one with Bobby Whitlock, too.
This guy was a legend ..
He's still doing it!
95 views WTF that’s gotta be a joke This is brilliant REAL music from a LEGEND that deserved far more recognition
@@camarrafamily7561 I’ve had the channel up over 3 years & only 750 subscribers. Not sure what I’m doing wrong but there’s good stuff waiting to be seen.
Donnie damn you rockin dem blues baby!!!
I love these clips from the past, lots of memories. Thank you for sharing.
What about guitarist Johnny Smith from Birmingham, Alabama? Both guild guitar company and Gibson guitar company made a Johnny Smith model, a high-end handbuilt guitar that retailed in the $10,000 price range. And yet you don’t mention him at all and this list of “best guitarists of all time from Alabama.”
Hello Ray- I hadn’t heard of Johnny Smith. I’m just posting what videos that I have about Matt Wake’s article in AL.COM. When he comes to bass players, certainly Cleve. Eaton will be there. On this channel, @MuscleMusic7 on UA-cam, I have a couple of posts with Cleve & some jazz from the Carver Theater. I believe you are on some of them. If you can give me the other names, it would be great to list them. Thanks
@@MuscleMusic7 , look Johnny Smith up on Wikipedia. Many of the great jazz guitarist of later generations studied guitar with Johnny. He maintained a teaching studio in Colorado for many years. He wrote the famous instrumental “walk, Don’t run” which was a big hit recording by the guitar/instrumental ensemble The Ventures.
@@RayReach Thanks! I’ll do it.
That's a lot of talent on one stage, thanks for posting.
Absolutely incredible. Shades of the brilliance to come, so apparent. We're lucky to have him.
@@sleepcity Thanks, there are other early clips scattered throughout the MM7 channel.
This is amazing. Thanks for uploading.
i met them they are great go larry

Beautiful voice Mae.
I got to know Mack he took time to be a friend and a songwriter mentor. He was something else.
“something else” says it as good as possible.
lee my friend i never knew
I love me sum Mae McKenna. Her music speaks volumes and I have all of her albums (her self-titled debut album & Everything That Touches Me are 2 of my favorites). She also provided background vocals for so many artists (although I can't name them all) - Donna Summer (R.I.P.), Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Westlife, Lonnie Gordon, Scritti Politti, Dead or Alive & ABC just to name a few 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Glad you found this clip. Mae had Muscle Shoals at her feet for a little while.
Did Buddy ever record his version of Forever? I can't seem find it
Sorry, I don’t know.
