Everybody dick-rides the Attitude Era as this great part of wrestling, the wrestling is no different today as it was then, if anything, depending on the promotion, its better. The people who praise the Attitude Era to this day, as far as I am concerned, are entertainment fans.

You know Hobble first off, I'll have you know I have a duck named Hobble, that is unrelated however. I agree with you completely. The Attitude era is overrated. It wasn't horrible but for the exception of a few wrestlers it was full of mediocrity. It just seems so much better because of the bland product(s) today.

Because gimmicks don't work these days. They've tried with a few characters recently, and they flop. The only one that was slightly successful was Abyss, and people got tired of that gimmick really fast. We live in a different time. Things that worked in the past, just don't work now. Kayfabe is a lot harder to pull of these days because of all of the dirt sheets and shoots. The industry is in trouble. Most of which is because bookers still haven't adjusted to the times.

At least they had gimmicks. Nowadays there are just forgettable first name-last name, boring, homogenized "wrestlers". You know your industry is in trouble when your most interesting characters are all from 20-40 years ago.

It's a case of people remembering things to be better than they were. It was more exciting than wrestling is today, absolutely. But it had a it's own heap of faults, ridiculous gimmicks, and some pretty nonsensical story lines at times. I stand by my claim that if they tried half of what they did back then today, it would not work, the internet has made sure that you can not get away with such kayfabe these days.

Why is this flagged? This is true. Only a few standout for pure wrestling talent, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, etc. If you really think The Rock or Austin, even Bret Hart are the best there ever were, your knowledge only spans WWE.
