The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to improving the health of the San Diego River and creating a better quality of life for our community through the creation of a 52 mile river-long park system. Our programs, projects, and events are designed to connect people to our historic San Diego River and empower the community to steward and celebrate it.
Western tiger swallowtails at Boulder Creel Preserve
Enjoy a meditative moment to watch a group of Western tiger swallowtail butterflies at our beautiful Boulder Creek Preserve. This open space preserve has significant biodiversity of flora and fauna and is part of the globally significant San Diego River ecosystem.

The recent San Diego floods and winter storms deposited a significant amount of trash in the San Diego River. The San Diego River Park Foundation organized a huge community cleanup to help and prevented trash from washing into the ocean and harming wildlife. San Diego River Estuary Kayak Clean Up 2024

The San Diego River community came together for The San Diego River Park Foundation's Annual Kayak Cleanup on January 13th, 2024. In this rare once a year opportunity to kayak in the estuary, volunteers enjoyed being out on the water to help clean trash before it entered in ocean. Other volunteers participated in a shoreline clean up and together we cleaned 2,940 lbs. of trash from the estuary!...

These amazing volunteers joined us for our Hike for a Purpose event to scout out a new trail at Eagle Peak Preserve in November 2023.
