Black pond skater using Farlex Ebonite 4 1/4” multiplying reel. You can't see the take but you can hear it. What made this one special is my guide Beano aka (Dave Holland) saw fish flash on a dry fly, my eyes didn't see it, anyhow, he had me change the skater to a different color., 2 cast later and it committed.

This reel is a Farlex 3 3/4" platewind multiplier 2x, right hand wind with a 2-way check, it clicks on the windup very lightly and heavier on the outgo when a fish is running.

Super cool, super fun video! THANKS for sharing
Sportivnaja ribalka ,sposibo ,interesno !..
That fish was pretty far out from the bank. Never would have reached it with a Nearlex.
I love that sound !!!!! Luckily, I own a Farlex reel which I really love ! Greetings from Argentina !
All the gear, no idea. Terrible release..
Richard Masters he didn’t even touch the fish and he kept it wet
Terrible release????
gear?
are you high?
Excellent combination: Farlex reel with a Meiser Rod....Perfect !!! Beautifull screaming reel
What beautiful souuunndddd !!!! And also, beautiful place !
Thank you very much for sharing it! And thanks again for describing your whole tackle, which is an excellent combination: Meiser Rod + Farlex reel + that footage and obviously, beautiful steelhead
This is the kinda footage I love to watch. No edits, annoying music or hero shots.
Nicely done, keeping em wet! Passing on the "hero shot,"makes you a true HERO! Go you!
Actually I don't even use hooks on my flies. Your hero hooks are ruthless and barbaric. Dry fly only and it never touches the water just hovers.
@@benjaminaxselholm Thanks for sharing! I'm going to start only casting too... or perhaps we all just stay home and "virtue signal?"
@@speydan7119 sarcasm bro
Is this Oregon
El Presidente Babine. NW BC
why didnt you tail the fish
The idea is the less you touch a fish the better. If the fish isn’t floundering about on the first one or two beach attempts you don’t need to grab at all 🤝
I am always surprised that so few anglers in North America make any effort to get alongside or downstream of their hooked fish early in the battle. Does it not constantly give the fish the advantage of the current. It's a basic principle drummed into us in UK as babies in arms! Trying to reel a fish back up through white water?.However, hell of a battle and well done Sir! You kept remarkably cool and a memorable pretty fish
I think that is point to be honest - give the fish the advantage. Personally I have never tried it but I'm definitely thinking about it!!
Steelhead don't normally leave the pool, once the fish left the pool I started chasing, not easy wading there and I started working my way down over 200 yards to catch up to it. I have had less then 10 steelhead leave the pool over the years.
What rod?
Jonathan Terhaar looks like a Bob Meiser rod
BC, the Babine
Omg!!!! Where was this?! Washington/Oregon?
I would be proud to have that rod too 😊
