I’m a 60-year-old who served in the Army back during the mid 1980s. This machine saved MANY lives throughout the war in South Vietnam, as it brought destruction down on enemy troops. What is tragic about the UH1 Iroquois (Huey) was the filming accident in 1981 or ‘82 that killed three actors on set. You’re seeing the same type of helicopter.
I loved the Huey as a kid and then in my 40,s scored a job as a flight sim tech at camp pendleton on novembers. You had to fly them to fix em. Probably 1000 hours after 15 years. Remember, dont drop your turns
My co worker was a Huey door gunner in Viet Nam. I asked him how could you surprise the enemy being so loud. He told me the sound echos through the valleys and the Viet Cong really could not tell which way the helis were coming in!

My brother in law served two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, and they were airlifted into action aboard Hueys. Although it's been decades since then, he said he gets a good feeling when he hears a Huey's familiar sound overhead. He said it reminds him of those times when he and his unit were all together headed into the field.
They 🇺🇸 built it in the 60s..wow..amazing machine.. what an impact it had on armies around the world when they hear a threatening huey coming to unleash havoc on them...!!

Big surprise. I was not aware of a civilian registered and airworthy UH-1D in Belgium (OO-DON) - so far I only knew about one in Germany (D-HUEY) ...
