Operation Greenhouse Nuclear Weapon Explosions
Geral lendo blue nights e passando por aqui
Our family had a 1956 Ford Country Sedan just like the white one parked at the gas station, minus the whitewall tires. Drove back and forth from Washington State to Arkansas every summer in it, very good car.
I love how In My Merry Oldsmobile was their nuke from the 30s to the 60s.
NASCAR's first meta.
Later, in the same show, Lucy and Desi watch the entire process at the Ford dealer. Interesting that most '57 Fords didn't come painted the same way as this retractable...Colonial White was most often used for the fender tops and the area around the window, while a darker color (Torch Red, Dresden Blue, etc.) was used on the rest of the body
Of course here from blue nights as well.
Diana Lynn= our queen and goddess <3
I just love the idea of Joan watching this.
Old commercials have the best jingles
0:18 the siren sounds like a fire truck
That's what sirens sounded like back then.
1970 440 Plymouth hot car!!
Lynn died of a stroke in late 1971; she was supposed to star in the 1972 movie Play It as It Lays.
Yes, the movie of the book by Joan Didion. Would have been the 3rd lead.
0000hhhhhhh. A rocket ride 0:10
Did Ford still use the famous oval logo that time or no?
No. In the 50s they used the Ford Crest
Hi Joan.
Wow, a car just like Lee Harvey Oswald used to have !
He then switched to a Stalin Avto- and Mashinegun Factory made commiemobile.
Had to be 1949 or 50. Diana.... yummm.
Wow! A talking car. It was way ahead of its time.
hello Brennen.
Diana Lynn was a pretty hot little number herself. Watch "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek" (1944) and you will see her at her sultry best when she was still just a teenager.
Nada thang wrong w/them old Ford wagons. I've always luvd their lines, headlight to Rocket- round taillights.
Yes, sex sells. Now AND 1950. But the Olds was a car far ahead of it's time with the 303 overhead valve V8. They were winners on the NASCAR circuit. I've done a lot of reading on them mainly cause I have a 52 Olds Super 88 sitting in my garage
all cars from the early 50's all look the same
The earlier 50s had less changes but the mid/late 50s had massive changes. A 56, 57, 58, 59, 60 and 61 Ford were drastically different cars than the year before. In the 2020s it would take over 10 + years to see the style evolution that happened between the 56 and 59 Ford
The great irony of that statement is that all cars from any given decade looked "the same." Take a look at any given stretch of highway today and try--just try!--to identify the make, model and year of the passing cars. The more things change...
I HAPPEN TO HAVE THAT PICTURE SIGNED BY ALAN. REST IN PEACE ALAN ...YOU GREW UP IN THE BEST YEARS OF AMERICA HISTORY... SEMPER FI.
Diana Lynn was a Godess
<333 Always and forever <3
Everyone in this video looks and sounds racist as Fuk!
Charger is made in Canada and Mexican hemi engine. Caprice made down under Ford Taurus made in USA.
Hi
I read Joan Didion's Blue Nights and just had to go look for this ad... I remember friends growing up with me whose parents had the Olds 88... neat car.
Me too... I really enjoyed the book too~!
Jeanne Rhode Joan Didion? You folks must be intellectuals! I have never before run into UA-camrs who have read her masterful prose......
She’s going to a Sydney Korshak rendezvous
Same!
I am just now reading it and just had to find this commercial.
I'm only looking at this because of Joan Didion's book 'Blue Nights' chapter 12 . Interesting.
Me too 😁
Same here....I'm only recently reading Didion and absolutely love her books!
your reading matter gives me an insight into your problem. But I'm afraid I don't have any answers. Maybe a good shrink could solve your dilemma.
oh no it isnt...my comments are right on the money. This is just something you dont know anything about and indeed if you did it wouldnt be as effective! Its about using subliminal sex messages in 1950s advertising to sell things. Go off and read Vance Packard's book from the late 50s "The Persuaders" or the recently published "The Secret Sales Pitch" by August Bullock. Or just google "subliminal sex messages in 1950s advertsing"
you're bent imagination working overtime pal
Love them old wagons. Too bad they call them SUVs today.
The sexual innuendo and double entendres show the repressed 50s at their best--and the woman riding on the huge phallus is, as someone else commented here, "surreal"
life was great back then
cool old commercial
@postatility a boat I think?
ive done alot of research on the rocket 88 - GMC was the first to experiment with smaller angle heads. this made for better flow numbers, more combustion efficiently with no recessed dome combustion chamber and it also upped the CR. the blocks were different too - i want to say something with the water jackets? cant remember off the top of my head. great car - way before its time. now small degree heads are all over the place for aftermarket drag racing and performance.
Were those two guys pulling a coffin out of that Ranch Wagon?
I would trade my Audi A4 Avant wagon for one of these.
This is in the era of "My Mother The Car". "Talking" things were a novelty in the 1950's...cars, horses...etc!
This is also a 1950 ad, like the one with Mel Torme.
Thanks for posting - Who says that there wasn't heavy drug use by advertising agency execs in 1958? - Surreal Always good to see Diana Lynn, though.
In my merry Oldsmobile
Yes gay men loved those Ford wagons, NOT
I'd love one of those old Ford V8's. Thanks for uploading this.
Life was much better back then. Simple, uncluttered.
Frank Rizzo agreed.
That's always awesome to see!
Obama doesnt have the courage to speak like this to America's enemies
