EMD G8, 382 between 1954 and 65. EMD 8-567 @ 875HP. Almost looks like an ALCo with the domed cab roof.
Unfortunately, that old girl is in extremely poor condition. The main frame has deep rust pitting and would require completely new frame members. Nearly anything is possible, given enough money, but this machine would require extensive fund raising. For railroad fans it is tough to see old historical items and infrastructure go. I know the feeling. Thank you for the video! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)
It's not alone. 15,500 km away, New Zealand Railways had these locos, too, same gauge, last century. Not sure of the class here.
Only 900 hp. If it could only talk
Roads look treacherous. Drive safely.
Beginning to look like Newfoundland this time of year. Now we just need some ice, so we can go copy paning.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video sir

What a neat place!!
Yes it's quite neat

Oh I can imagine the delicious fish I could catch and eat out of there. Bills surf rods would get a work out. Do you like fish Mike? Do you hunt or fish?
I don't do a lot of fishing or hunting in Alberta but I been eating a lot of fish down in my home province Newfoundland, I'm vacationing here, I eat anything, and try everything, lol 😂
Oh I love this...a old general store? Warmth, friendship. A era gone by.
Yes one of a kind forsure
Have fun getting out of there Mike. Lol
Yes lol
Those houses front door opens right on the road.
Yes it's old Newfoundland that's the way it is here in the battery
So beautiful! I'd like to follow along on a map to familiarize myself with Canada. I don't have a clue of the areas. Can you please say what highways you're on and directions you're going? Thanks!🙂
New Hampshire living in Tennessee
Nice
When I lived in the small village of Nikiski, Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula, everyone living there pretty much relied on wood burning stoves. That was 30 years ago.
Wood stove is main heat here in Newfoundland
It’s after the bridge where the old road is
I didn't feel a ting when you dropped me. Are you sure you're in Newfoundland, mid January, no snow, no fog.
😂
Based on the street signs: Newfoundland. But I have no idea where that is.
Yes Newfoundland
This is very interesting to me because ive had no idea what it's like there. You are so fortunate to have grown up there and so close to the water. I finally live near the water, after it's been my dream all of these years.
Beautiful! Sadly, simplicity is getting harder and harder to find.
Yes
You trimmed your beard Looks nice. Did you bring your wife on the trip home?
Just by myself, yeah I had to clean up for my trip back home
May your parents rest in peace. Thank you for sharing your adventure back to your home! As a military veteran myself, I salute your father. You must be very proud of him.
Thank you, yes I'm very proud of my father,
Love it..looks very peaceful,,,Qwiet place..thanx for sharing where you grew up..
Yes, very peaceful, thank you for watching.

Newfoundland??? Wow! You made quite the road trip from Alberta! Did you camp along the way? Have fun on your adventure!
No sorry I came down on plane, car or camping would take forever, I would if I had more time
Ohh doggy Yall got some good 👍 potholes just like we do in Ohio. What's your 1st. Name and what's your home towns name. I hope you had a nice trip. Thanks for taking us along. Beautiful view of the lake.😊

@Alberta_Canada weve had 2 Labrador retrievers. As I understand New Foundland used to be named Labrador. Do you know if this is true? And b.t.w...it's very cool to be with you there. Maybe someday me and hubby will get to go. We love 🇨🇦 Canada!
