lol, I am About a few years late here but I believe the doppler only shows rainfall. So the cloud radar and the rainfall radar are very different. The clouds are likely still there during the moments of no blue/rainfall... it just won't be raining for a while until later, hence why the blue/rainfall dissipates but then grows again near the end of the simulation.
