Parrots are awesome pets, BUT, people must be made aware that they are DEFINITELY NOT for everyone. They require a huge commitment from their owners and cannot be treated like dogs. They are highly intelligent and require constant attention and stimuli to be happy. Many people are not well suited to be parrot owners, leading to a large number of neglected parrots that are pissed off and spend a lifetime locked in a cage going insane. A horrible fate for such an intelligent creature. If you aren’t willing to commit yourself to serving your pet, DO NOT get a parrot. They are wonderful but require a lot.
