Black Swamp Carp
United States
Приєднався 14 чер 2020
I'm hoping to change the perception of Carp from trash to trophy fish in the United States but more specifically Northwest Ohio. In the words of The American Carp Society “our goal is to raise both the awareness and the attributes of this hard fighting freshwater fish to other anglers and members of the public. It is our hope that with showing both care and stewardship of the Trophy fish ...as well as encouragement to new Anglers being introduced to the sport, that we will achieve this goal and together lead with the ongoing care and stewardship of the Trophy Carp in our US waters.” Northwest Ohio’s waters attract anglers from all over the United States in hopes of catching the prized Walleye and even the scale tipping catfish that swim the Maumee River. Northwest Ohio however has for the most part remained untouched by anglers looking to catch Carp. The Maumee River is the home of some large Carp and it is our hope that in the years to come people are traveling here to net one.

How to Use Propolis - Carp Care is Important When Carp Fishing Most people in the US think we're nuts targeting carp with the rod and reel. When we start using propolis to administer care for the carp their mind are truly blown. It's important to use propolis if you see any scale pulls and around the mouth where the hook entered to carp's mouth. If you have any tips or questions about the proce...

How to Make Pack Bait for Carp Fishing

How to Make Pack Bait for Carp Fishing There are many recipes for pack bait on the internet. In my opinion, many of them are over complicated and unnecessary. After simplifying my pack bait, I've found that my catch rate is the same as the complicated pack baits I had been using. Here is my simple 3 ingredient, bare bones and inexpensive, recipe that I've found to be really successful. All you'...

does it has to be semolina or can i use every pasta flour?
Now where does an American learn the word mielie bomb? Probably learned biltong too.
Thanks for the interesting video, please tell me what can I use instead of cornflakes?
Fantastic that pal, really like the idea of this recipe. Think i might give this a go at some point next year when it starts to warm up over here. I'm interested to know how you get on with them, although the fact that carp love corn suggests you're onto a winner here. All the best Steve 👍🏻
hi there! i can't find the base m ic receipt , have you posted somewhere? Thanks a lot, tight Lines everybody!!!😊
yes but every other muppet will see them in the margin
Here in the US, no one is targeting carp so it really isn't an issue.
defined gonna make these. Thnx
Great step by step explanation and detailed ingredient names and quantities of each of them. Rarely is this presented for boilies or packbait. Also, do you think this formula could be used for packbait in its pre rolled stage?
Great video. Im also stuck in a country that does not sell creamed corn in a can (Sweden) but from my research, store bought creamed corned is basically just sweet corn with extra salt, sugar and corn starch. so Im gonna try adding that my self to the recipe and see if it works. A quick note. "a can of", is not a very good measurement, as cans can very in sizes quit a bit :) Looking forward to your updated video. //Cheers
Hi. Great video. Just one question. You take the boilies out of the boiling water when they begin to float- but once they have dried out, do they sink?
Same for me I am going to make my first batch ever of sweetcorn boiles, thanks for the video.
THIS IS SHIT! :)
Bro without amino and oils doesent work :/
I've had success on my waters with this exact recipe. I plan on doing a follow-up video where I will be changing the recipe by adding more protein and some aminos to the mix. Thanks for watching.
I got a question, does the corn flake powder weigh 425 grams or do you start with 425 grams and the end result weight don't matter? And how many hours exactly do you keep the dough in a bag before rolling
I weigh the flakes before I start. I keep the dough in the bag for at least an hour. You could go more but I've never gone less.
@@BlackSwampCarp thanks!!
This is awesome! I'm pretty much a beginner carp fisher and in my several sessions i've yet to catch my first carp. I didn't think about making boillies myself but I got recommended this video by youtube and it looks pretty easy and nice to do! I think I'll have a try if I can find similar enough ingredients here in The Netherlands. Thanks for sharing your recipe to every fishermen out there.
Thanks for the kind words and of course watching the video. Please let me know how you do over in the Netherlands. Good luck and tight lines.
Do you have to freeze these or can you wack them in a bait bucket and leave them
It all depends how quickly you use them. If you plan on throwing them in a bait bucket for weeks on end, I'd suggest freezing them. I hope this helps.
if i completely follow these steps will they be shelf life mate
Sorry, I'm a little confused by your question. Are you asking how long these will last before the spoil?
@@BlackSwampCarp no mate im asking if you need to keep them in a freezer
I keep mine in the freezer until I'm ready to use them. I have air dried for up to two weeks before use and they were completely fine.
@@BlackSwampCarp if i kept them out the freezer u reckon they will be all godd
That works!
It worked getting around the island, that's for sure. Thanks for watching.
Neat set up! 🙂
Thanks!
i dont have acces to cream style corn can i just blend corn?
Another person also didn't have access to cream style corn. They tried blending normal can corn and the mixture did not come out the same. All I can suggest is test it out. Let me know if you come up for an alternative to cream style corn. It could help a lot of folks out.
@@BlackSwampCarp im trying it this week, going to mix corn with milk and flour to kinda make a creamy mix!
Please let me know how it goes.
Yea… im not the only one using this metod
I've found it to be tried and true. Tight lines!
great video dude, looks like a nice place to fish minus the crocs haha.. nice grassy i can never get a good picture with them, they always go crazy as soon as i touch them haha
Thanks for the kind words. The gators were no joke and not to be messed with. This was the best photo I could manage. That was pretty early in the morning and my camera lenses kept fogging up.
Giving these a try as we speak my 1st time making boiles 🤞all the way from uk
Wow, this feels like a lot of pressure. Please let me know how things translate from the US to the UK. I'm sure our cereal and cream corn is probably different. I hope that doesn't mess anything up. I'll have a new recipe coming out soon where I'll be adding more protein to the base mix.
@@BlackSwampCarp No pressure. These boillies will work well in any country.
Thanks for sharing your recipe! Question when you said that putting the boilies in non-vacuum bag don't last as long. What do you mean they don't last as long? Meaning they crumble, spoil, or what?
I've found that when I vacuum seal the boilies, as opposed to just freezing them in a plastic bag, they don't end up with freezer burn and covered in ice crystals. Freezer burn makes the boilies tougher and I've noticed a diminished smell, flavor and color. Because of that I'm able to freeze more of them for longer as well.
Thanks for watching!
Hi! If the boilies have been dried, do they still need to be put in the freezer? And if I don't put them in the freezer, how long will they last approximately?Want to try it in the future so thats why I´m asking :D Thanks for the vid btw
First of all, thanks for watching. I guess it all depends how quickly you plan on using them after drying. If you're going for a hard boilie to try to combat crays and what not, I suppose you could leave them out for quite awhile (weeks) as long as the conditions you're leaving them in are good (good air flow, not super damp, protected from mice and bugs, etc). As you know from the recipe, I haven't added any preservatives. I hope this helps. Please let me know how they turn out when you make them.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet, not tje other way round
Thanks for the tip. Someone else suggested that as well. I'll definitely be doing it that way from now on.
@@BlackSwampCarp it just makes it easier to get the paste consistency right.
Caebs, carbs and more carbs. Where is rhe protein source? Some milk powder would be a food idea
I plan on switching up the recipe to make it better. Milk powder is a great idea. I was also thinking about adding crayfish meal to it as well.
@@BlackSwampCarp milk powder is easy to get, cheap and carp like it. Crayfish meal in my opinion is less proven. It's variable in quality and goes off quickly..a couple of the major bait companies here (UK) have used it in the past but don't any more which tells you something I guess. I wouldn't go too high on the milk powder, 20% max as it's soluble.
Like the recipe, but i only have canned corn here, not that creamed corn that you use, would that make a difference? there is liquid in those cans aswell.
I'm assuming it would make a difference. The cream style corn definitely has more sugar and I believe it contains starch. You could try blending the sweet corn and giving it a go. Let me know if you try it and how it works for you.
@@BlackSwampCarp thanks for the fast response, I will try it this week and take a look at the General look of the blend
Soo I tried just blending my corn but I think it came out not runny enough, seemed like your mixture felt more wet, soo the dough was a bit dry and stiff. Trying to roll 16mm but they come out as dumbbells and they don't reaaly roll a lot in the mould
Add 2 more eggs @@user-kj6um6zy8o
Interesting recipe! And they look gorgeous. Can't help thinking i would want to add some crushed hulled hemp to that dry mix. The combo of corn and hemp just does something in my own fishing
That's a great idea. I plan on changing the mix up to make it better. Thanks for the tip.
Quality. cheers bud.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Not bad, i'll try it maybe with a little tweaks. But mixing, you're doing it backwards. Try mixing dry mix into liquid
You're correct. Thanks for the reminder. I'll definitely switch that up. Thanks for watching.
Corn steep liquor would be great in that mix
Good day. Trying this recipe out and it seems very dry. What could I add? For the same amounts of semolina and corn flakes, I've added an extra 2 eggs, 3 table spoons of oil and an extra teaspoon of food colouring. It's still quite hard
First of all, thanks for watching my video and giving it a try. I'm not sure why things are coming out so hard for you. I make mine exactly the same way I showed in the video and I get a Play-Doh like consistency every time. The only things off the top of my head that leave any room for variance are possible the brand of Frosted Flakes and how fine you grind it, brand of semolina and the size of the eggs. If I'm honest though, I don't know how much that might matter. I'm stumped. Sorry I'm not able to offer any advice. Good the climate, humidity, elevation of where you live change things? Just trying to spitball here. Let me know if you figure it out.
Thank you!! Eventually came right. Added extra eggs and half and half winged some measurements. Came out amazing though. Going to be testing them out this weekend. Regards from South Africa and tight lines🎣
Hola Buenas, Una pregunta la Sémola es de trigo ?
Yes, I believe semolina is wheat. It is often used to in make pasta. I hope this helps some.
@@BlackSwampCarp you have corn semolina (yellow) and wheat semolina (white)
@@BlackSwampCarp Thank you
Thanks for the share, happy days and tight lines....
Thanks for watching and tight lines to you as well!
great vid m8, add more sugar/salt/chilli/garlic powder to the dry mix will also help, thanks for posting
Thanks for watching! This was the initial basic run. I plan on mixing it up a bit by adding some of the ingredients you suggested. Stay tuned for the update.
She's a beaut, bud!
Thanks man. You need to get out again at some point.
I'd buy them! Well done, great work. Carp will hoover them!
Thanks for stopping by. I've been having luck with them. Next I plan on changing the recipe a bit and rolling out some larger boilies.
Nice& simple boilies, bravo! A quick tip : when mix in the bag yours meals, don't squeeze the bag to remove the air, do the opposite, blow some air in the bag and the mixing will be much better and fast :). I do similar recipes but I add a 1/3 or more cat/dog grinded biscuits croquets and some salmon or cod oil. Here in Europe we spoiled the carps with miriade of goodies so they turn more capricious and choosy :). Tight lines, Cheers!
Thanks for checking out my video and the helpful tips. I'll be posting some more recipes when I get time to film that include birdseed and ground cat food with fish oil.
@@BlackSwampCarp I'm sure you'll do ! Also adding 1/10 (of total dry ingredients) roasted&grinded sunflower seeds and r&g hemp seeds increase a lot the quality and the attraction of the mix. Egg's shells grinded also. And don't forget the spices ! Carp loves spices : salt, pepper, paprika, anice, garlic, cinnamon, indian blends ecc ecc. Cheers!
Maybe do follow up vid', showing how it "Fizzes", say in a glass of water ?
That's a great idea and I should have done that originally. When I get sometime I'll post a follow up. Thanks again for the comment.
Great video! How do you hook your dog biscuits?
I was fishing a simple hair rig for the dog biscuits. The dog biscuits were attached to the hair with a baiting needle and bait stop. Hair rigs are the way to go for dog biscuits. Otherwise they are too fragile to be hooked. Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'd be more than willing to try to help answer them.
@@BlackSwampCarp Thanks for replying. Loving your videos, it's good to see that carp fishing has a good following in the U. S as it has here in the U. K. 👍
