Violent Driver 5 south
Переглядів 852 місяці тому
On this morning I was commuting to work and lane sharing when I noticed a car up ahead swerve really fast from the number 1 lane into the Car Pool lane. I did not think twice about it until I got closer and the driver violently swerved toward me in what I can only guess was some obnoxious move to stop me from lane sharing. At first I thought it was just a mistake, perhaps something was in the r...

Dangerous Tesla Driver solo in HOV
Переглядів 2,3 тис.Рік тому
This Tesla Driver put her blinker on and jumped two lanes right into the HOV lane without looking. I dislike touching cars, but made an exception since she never saw me until I was past her. On top of that she was driving solo in the HOV lane which is against the law as her car did not have a clean air sticker. I run my Go Pro on every commute and this sort of thing is pretty rare as you can se...

Civic Dropping Rope 06 29 2023

DH Serpentine state of the trail 05 18 2023

Took some video of the DH Serpentine Trail on my lunch ride today to show where it sits after a heavy winter rain and now a few weeks of dry weather. Ruts are bad, especially in the places that the City Graded last year without installing proper water erosion barriers. almost zero regular maintenance by the city of Carlsbad has left this and many other heavily used trails in the City managed Pa...

Closed Lane Shoulder Rider 03 17 2022

5 Freeway, southbound in the Del Mar area. The new CarPool lane is not open yet. As temping as it might be to ride a motorcycle around the cones and skip past traffic, it is not only illegal, but highly dangerous to do so. Dangerous HD rider - riding on Shoulder

Riders like this give all riders a bad name. Riding on the shoulder to pass a car on the freeway is poor form. Especially with a pillion on the back. He could have easily ended up sliding our from hitting a slick patch of loose dirt or sand. Everyone tells me that they don't worry about motorcycle riders, but rather the car drivers not paying attention..... that is only a small part of the stor...

    Gonna have to disagree. I commute the 56 WB (Blk Mtn) to 5N every day on a K1200RS. One day in my car on 56 WB in #2 lane I saw an opening and signaled to make my move to #1. JUST as I was turning the wheel a guy splitting flew right by me...had he been a second later I would have taken him out. Even tho I checked my mirror, the morning rising sun behind me made visibility difficult to see a bike. That is a worst case scenario for spliiters, someone in #2 taking a gap in #1 to get by someone too slow in #2 causing a backup of impatient drivers. I pay double attn every time when I see a gap that could get filled. I've had so many close calls lately tho I rarely ride on commutes any more. To me just not worth it.

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 8 років тому

      Yes, close calls can happen on occasion, but in the 6 years I have been riding from Oceanside to SD and back everyday they are few and far between. Paying extra attention is required if one chooses to ride, especially to commute. In my experience I have found surface streets to be 3-4 times as dangerous as the freeway.

    Great video, but I don't think this is Bear Camp Road! We were just on it and it was trecherous - no double lines - one lane. Is there a loop? This might give people the wrong impression. Folks have died taking Bear Camp Road. Wikipedia says "Bear Camp Road is a rugged, narrow, crooked road, which is not suitable for travel in the winter. Numerous motorists have been stranded for days or weeks on Bear Camp Road or one of the many gravel roads that branch off from it. Dewitt Finley and James Kim both died after being stranded on the road in winter" I'll have video on my blog in a day or two (July/27/2016 BloggingOnWheels.com I just wouldn't want people taking Bear Camp road thinking this beautiful video is what they'll experience. .Cheers. (Great music - well done, may need a new title)

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 8 років тому

      Perhaps you did not read the description of the video or watch the entire thing? We did a loop with Bear Camp Coastal route as part of our loop ride, but we did over 200 miles that day. Much of the one lane road with gravel sections is featured in the middle of the video.

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 8 років тому

      +Shea Rollin You cannot speed up a clip mid-way through. When pulling my clips from the original file I pause the video where I want to clip and mark that as the end of one clip - press "add selected to conversion list" and then change the end of that clip to the beginning of the next section I want to clip. Does that make sense?

    Because all Tesla drivers push the car to it's limit in the corners? Pretty silly to assume the car was the limiting factor...

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 9 років тому

      +Callsign Vega The driver was the limiting factor for sure, he was going way slower than he needed to in those corners, that said, most drivers are probably not capable or comfortable with pushing such a big heavy car to its limits in a corner, but rather are only good and going fast in a straight line which really only requires the skill to press ones foot down on a pedal. The type of people who purchase the Model S are not doing so because they want to have a canyon carver.

    • @CallsignVega
      @CallsignVega 9 років тому

      +klurejr Most drivers are uncomfortable driving any car near their limits, not just heavier cars. But you did imply that the car was slow in the corners because it was a Tesla, not because the driver could have been a crappy driver which is far more likely. Regardless, a Subaru isn't exactly a race track star either.

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 9 років тому

      +Callsign Vega A Subaru STI certainly is a race track star, you may want ot do some more research into what these cars are capable of, even in stock form. This was a case of probably both driver trepidation and a vehicle not really designed to go as fast around corners as mine was. Either way, the driver was showing off, and then got caught not being able to finish what he had started.

      Allen Day If you pause the video at 0.49 you can see the rock I hit that threw the front off to the right and caused the endo, it is in the frame dead center above my handlebars. My hands came off the handlebars as a result of hitting the rock. I went back and looked at it, the rock is triangular in shape and sticks up in the air about 5-6 inches, but is hidden in the weeds on the left side of the single track. I have been back a few times on the same trail and always see it now... haha.

    don't you hate how POV footage distorts things. but i was wondering what settings you used to upload this footage as my video comes out super choppy and looking like crap, despite the fact i have a GoPro hero 4.

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 10 років тому

      Thanks for the comment Thomas, I have a GoPro Hero 3 Silver and I record at 720p but with 60fps, the extra fps seems to make a bigger difference than recording in 1080, especially if I am just uploading to youtube. I use the GoPro Studio to edit all my videos and when I export, I export at 1080p to get the best file possible. The end result is a larger file, but it gives me a good upload. Also the Distortion you are seeing is more likely from the Fisheye lens on the GoPro rather than the POV.

    • @tf2965
      @tf2965 10 років тому

      When I saw distorted I mean like blocky. It seems like the bit rate is really low. I usually record at 1080p at 60 frames a second. Idk.

    • @klurejr
      @klurejr 10 років тому

      Thomas Freeman If it is blocky on youtube, then you are dealing with a bandwidth issue, if it is blocky when you download the file and watch the raw footage on your Computer or if you have a TV that will play the files right off your GoPro, then there is something else wrong with the Camera. I know mine required a firmware update right after I got it.
