With all this knowledge in mind, why is it so hard for someone to make a fuzz that works well with a bass guitar rig? I think most fuzz pedals that are designed for bass are way too high gain and blown out sounding. Is it possible to make one that is not so high gain and still allows the tone to be cleaned up with the volume on the bass? I wish I could spend the time to experiment with all this stuff to find out a solution. Thoughts? For instance, what platform would be best to start with? a friend of mine has a MKii TB that sounds pretty good with a tele bass… and I could get a decent and very useable sound with the big blue Hendrix FF with BC108’s. Or is it because most dudes who make fuzz pedals do not have a proper fender P-bass with a good bass amp to experiment with?

They both sound great! The NKT CV7007 has the vintage vibe I’d be going for.

AC125 is killer, the CV sounds scoopy in comparison, but both great

AC125 has an overall warmth that I like - although the top sizzle of NKT CV7007 also sounds good. Both have a distinct clean up personality. AC125 woolyfuzzgoodness!

Watching this after your one knob fuzz bread board video makes me wonder if I can use some of my own germanium transistors in place of those silicon ones? I have a dozen or so that match the hfe and leakage values shown in this video. there's no bias control on the board tho. I have been swapping out different value resistors on the Q1-2 feedback, the 150k, since I'm already using different Si transistors (i don't have any bc109 so I'm using bc107 and 108) and found I like a 220k but I don't actually know if that's biasing or not lol.

I made it like 19 seconds into the video and I immediately built the power box with in/outs. The only thing I’ve built on my breadboard so far was an LED circuit haha hopefully I didn’t mess up!
