Stop Coming Over the Top & Start Lowering Your Score
If your swing path is too out to in you may be making golf harder for yourself. By having a more in to out swing or neutral path you can start to hit the ball more consistently leading to lower scores.

      Thank you! You’ve found my problem. The only part I’m a bit confused on is at 3:36 in the video you say from the top of the backswing the hands move out towards the ball? Wouldn’t that cause an over the top move? I’m thinking I want to get the club in the slot by dropping the hands and straightening the right elbow before the right hip fires through. Your thoughts please. Either way a great video and I must delay firing my hips first. I’ve subscribed!

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf 6 днів тому

      Thank you for your comment and follow. When I say to move your hands towards the golf ball I may have used incorrect language to describe "my feels". That's just my way of saying to drop your arms down into the slot before firing your hips or turning your shoulders. You are correct, I just chose incorrect language to express what I'm feeling. :) I like to feel like my hands are going right back down the line because I have a tendency to drop my arms to far behind me and then fire my hips too early leaving me really stuck. One drill that has helped, but is tough is to place a golf ball down on the ground. Then, put a golf ball in your trail hand. Go to the top of your swing and then throw the golf ball in your trail hand at the ball on the ground trying to hit it. Or, place a quarter down and do the same. Again, thanks so much for the comment and follow. Please write any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer or share with you a video. Take care!

    A reasonable attempt at this issue, but you are missing an essential part which is shoulder rotation. Your shoulders need to rotate in the downswing first, then arms hands, hips will follow by themselves. You should review some Pete Cowen videos

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf Місяць тому

      Thanks for the comment. I agree with you, as I've seen his videos, but for me, personally, I like to feel more that my trail arm needs to get in front of my trail hip vs feeling the shoulder. Even though I'm "feeling" my trail arm it's really my trail shoulder that is getting down closer to the ball first like you said. Similar to skipping a stone.

    • @herbie4u2009

      This is one of my major problems in my swing. My hips spin out way to soon. This causes me to flip or most of the time come over the top with my trail shoulder. My hands are very fast and outrun my body rotation. I think I will also be buying a gear tie! Thanks for the video buddy. Live laugh and golf!😊

      @Pfienixgolf Місяць тому

      Yes, I agree. If your hips win the race your arms can get stuck and cause that. I find when I have the occasional shanks it's all about me moving closer to the ball during my down swing. Make sure you are keeping a steady head during the back swing.

    The problem generally isn’t the early extension in itself but something else that’s causing the player to EE to compensate aka root causes. A big root cause is too steep of path, if a player is steep, the EE is helping them shallow the club. Another big root cause is the address position, not having their hips balanced over the ankles forces them to move into the ball to find balance, or being to ridged with lots of anterior pelvic tilt at address VS slight posterior. For most players with serious EE, not EE is going to make them much much worse until they correct the flaw that is causing them to early extend in the first place. Once that flaw is found & worked on different drills like this one can help to ingrain the new movements but in itself can just make players worse because again the EE is helping them. Also many great players, Jack Nicklaus, Oosthuizen, Jimmy Walker, Brando. Mathew’s, Stewart Cync, etc have EE. A lot of it boils down to different body types & how their strengths & weaknesses, some players are more upper body (core) who are going to EE more VS lower body (core) who get really cleared like DJ. There’s a lot to it, a lot more than I even mentioned but EE in itself isn’t generally the flaw but rather the effect. Also a multi time world long drive champ EE, it doesn’t necessarily cost you any power but rather can increase club speed. Like most things in the golf swing it’s a spectrum & there’s very different types of EE. 🍻

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf Місяць тому

      I completely agree and so many times in my videos I talk about how important it is to have a professional evaluate your swing as you most likely have a problem that is causing EE or something else. Then, you can make sure you a practicing the correct drill vs. just shooting from the hip. It's easy to get a bad habit going by practicing something that really isn't a problem. I appreciate the comment as I think you added a really good explanation for any viewers.

      Yes, this is a great drill to help you get a feel for a proper club path. You can also use cheap sponges to create a gateway to swing through. I've even used yoga blocks or a piece of wood. When I go to the range before a round I will use some tees to swing through. Then, I know my path is good before the round. I hope this drill helps you.

    Put a ball or towel under your right armpit, if it falls you know you are going over the top.

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf 4 місяці тому

      Yes, that's actually another short that I will be posting soon. The only issue with that drill is I've seen golfers who have such a bad "over the top" move their whole upper body turns so they can keep the towel under their arm and keep it there. With this, having something in the way you could hit can be more effective in my opinion. Thanks for commenting!

    Thanks Bill...I've been at the game for about 20 years and, I still struggle with this problem on the first few holes of every round...I've never considered that I might be crouching a bit too much in my address....I'm going to implement your drills and try and address the ball a bit more taller....BTW...You might consider changing your video format...It's coming out in a narrow view rather than a wide viewing which would be more effective...

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf 7 місяців тому

      @tonyshans2226 Thanks for your comments and I'm hoping the tips I shared can help you out. I used to crouch really badly and would basically jump back from the ball. Finally, I learned if I stood a little taller I could get down to the ball. It feels very weird like I'm 100ft over the ball, but when I record myself I'm perfect - lol. Yes, I accidentally left my phone in the upright position when I recorded the video, so I will making future vids horizontal. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Very appreciated. Take care

    thanks for this video. . an old drill that works still. I was hitting erratic ,inconsistent, knew something was off. tried the towel drill and started hitting short, bump and run STRAIGHT golf shots. amazing how the arms and torso have to be connected. now I have to figure how to increase range of turn to increase my distance. golf is more fun when you hit it where you want it to go! John

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf 8 місяців тому

      Thanks for your reply. I'm glad that this drill helped you. It's always the one I go back to when I feel like my body and arms aren't connected. After this drill what I do to still feel connected without using the towel is to just grab some of my shirt and place it up underneath my arms, then when I get to the top of the back swing I pause for 1 second. Then, I hit a ball. I usually us a pitching wedge. This helps me to continue to work on my timing and body connection without the towel. Thanks again and I'm glad this drill helped.

    • @Pfienixgolf
      @Pfienixgolf 2 роки тому

      Hi John, thanks for commenting. I was always taught that you want the butt end (handle) of the club to have a little bit of lean towards your lead leg. Right about the center of your lead leg. I think having the butt end of the club point to your belt buckle is a good reference for how the club is parallel to the ground. For instance, if you had your hands too low or high during setup it wouldn't point at your buckle. One of my favorite instructors on UA-cam just did a video on proper set up which is very helpful for new players as well as old players who might need a refresher. He will explain it much better than me, I recommend checking it out. Plus, he has a ton of really good videos. ua-cam.com/video/IToM0Wig-MU/v-deo.html

      @Pfienixgolf 2 роки тому

      I hadn't heard of that product, but I looked it up for more information and seems very similar in what it's trying to get you to do with your body and arms. The Anti-Flip Stick® has a rubber cap on it and I've found that it fits snuggly on mid to larger sized grips. You could try to wrap a little bit of painter's tape on the grip of your wedge which might make the device fit a little more snuggly for you. I hope that helps. If you have further questions please let me know or you can visit my site at antiflipstick.com. Thanks for commenting.

    Piece of junk! I bought the pet hair vision had it got a month and a half and the left wheel started a clicking noise. I contacted customer support and they sent me a brand new unit. I charged it overnight all lights were white. When I press the start button, vacuum will move off the base 2-3 feet spin, and blinking blue light. All packing material has been removed, I can’t use my app to find out what the problem is because I don’t have a compatible wifi connection. I can’t return it to kohls, because it’s way past the return date. I pissed away $300. I’ve tried over 15 times to get this thing to work and all it does is move off the base and have a blinking blue light. I should’ve bought a roomba although it’s way out of my price range.

      I don't work for the company and I don't know your exact model, but if they sent you a replacement it sounds like it's having a hard time syncing to the charging base. If it doesn't sync correctly, sometimes it will act funny. Also, I know from mine I had a 2 years of warranty and support so I would reach out to support again. I've always found them very helpful with my issues. If you click this link it has all their how to videos which may help you. - ua-cam.com/users/bobsweepincplaylists?view=50&sort=dd&shelf_id=12 Sorry you are having a bad experience, but I would first check the syncing between the sweeper and the charging station and then reach back out to support.

    Just got this for Christmas from hubby. My concern is my wooden table and chairs and my buffet. Looks like it will spray them and ruin the wood. What do you think.

      Sorry I missed your comment. It shoots a pretty low stream of water pointed at the floor. You can see in the start of the video if you watch closely. Plus, as you have probably noticed by now it's not a steady stream. More of a spray, wipe for about 30 seconds, then another spray. Hope this helps.
