I've long noticed a thing in sci-fi design which I call to myself the "NEST Syndrome," for Not Exactly Star Trek, because the designer bends over backwards to make sure his ship DOESN'T look like the Starship Enterprise ... and fails. Either because it does look kind of like the Enterprise, or it looks like nothing that belongs in God's sky. IMHO this ship is the embodiment of NEST Syndrome. I defy anyone to look at it and NOT think of the Enterprise -- all the more so because there was a USS Constellation in Star Trek TOS, and a Constellation class in TNG ...

Where's the reaction mass stored for those large interplanetary engines? I see a lot of space for crew and equipment, but nothing for reaction mass, and those engines look very thirsty.

Okay, two things: (1) It's called the "Caterpillar," so I expected it to be segmented and go crawling along like a real caterpillar, but it doesn't and I'm disappointed. (2) It's named for a fuzzy crawly critter, so I found the music really, really off-putting -- all Blade Runner grimdark when I'd have preferred something like "Tuxedo Junction." So, TL;DR? Why be so serious about the Drake Caterpillar?

I like this design. Vertical liftoff and landing with fixed forward thrusters. It’s efficient and appears to be a workhorse. What more could anyone want ?

this design would work best if vxx formation and front flaps hold rotantional vtols and back power is extendead on back and also vtols roational one and this corvette style aeroplane has has back wings that are expandable on servo and also rotational tails for even more stability drive of fly or glide

It's gonna need about 1/4 power of Hoover Dam (500 MW CW output). That's 2 latest-gen USN nuclear sub reactors. Which, all considerations factored in, likely weigh ~1,000,000 lb each. The Saturn-V rocket weighed 6,400,000 lb, & required 33,000 kN of thrust to achieve VTO & escape velocity. That's 33,000 kW = 33 MW (100% efficiency). The more likely efficiency (of propulsion drives) at 20% = 165 MW input power to achieve 33 MW actual thrust. On paper... that's still viable.
