You guys were so invasive during the early portion. Is there a reason you pulled the foal out? It sure didn't look like it (it can cause discomfort and tearing for the mare). The placenta looked fine, the mare seemed to be doing fine, it seemed pretty quick (well below the 15 minute rule), it seemed to be in the right position - is something missing here? Also, if you do have to pull the foal, it's best to alternate legs so the shoulder lie askance, making the area that has to get through smaller. Also, leave them alone for a bit, please. Moving the mom around, and especially the baby, just to switch out the straw was really not necessary. The set up was good and the overall process seemed reasonable, I just wish you'd have left them alone more, unless there was more going on we couldn't see/hear. Mama trying to roll on the baby at ~36 min is such a horse thing to do.
