Rolling with CHUNKY
Приєднався 18 січ 2022
After hiring a motorhome and touring the NC500 route in Scotland, we realised how much adventure and freedom we could have that goes beyond booking holidays with a travel company!!
Whilst travelling home at the end of this amazing trip, we cautiously visited a number of dealerships... within days of being home, we had found our perfect motorhome! It arrived a few but long months later!!
Come with us as we grab every bit of spare time outside our day jobs and use as many weekends (and a few longer trips) as possible to get out, do stuff and create memories.
We're Mike and Shaz, and we are Rolling with Chunky!

Motorhome Trip to The Peak District- Staying at Chatsworth House & Buxton
We took a long weekend motorhome trip to the Peak District to explore Chatsworth House. The location of the campsite was brilliant, we were able walk directly into Chatsworth grounds from the back of the site!
Before we headed back home, we managed to get a couple of nights in Buxton and got lucky to get an amazing sunrise from Solomon’s Temple!

When is the next wine tour :-) great video
Can I ask what site did you stay on in annercy and did you book lake side pitch thank you
Where did you park in Ambleside. Thanks.
Hi, it was miller bridge car park! Thanks for watching!
Annecy looks amazing. What is the name of the campsite you stayed at please
Annecy is a beautiful place well worth the visit!! The camp site was ..camping le lac bleu, we got so luck to get on the water front! Thanks for watching!
Great video guys, safe travels 🚐
What time of year did you travel?
Just discovered you guys and we're really enjoying your videos, keep 'em coming 👍
Hi guys. Great fun video. What site did you stay at in annecy please. It looked lush.
www.camping-lac-bleu.com/en/ Thanks for watching hopefully the link works !!
Thanks so much for the video! My partner and I are off to do this in a couple of weeks, I have to saycthe one thing I'm weirdly nervous about is parking 😂 I don't know what the rules are for parking a 5.6 metre long van at tourist attractions, car parks etc
Thanks for watching! You’ll have a great time it’s amazing 🤩 the motorhome we hired was 7.6m we had no issues! Most areas had large open car parks just have to be aware that your not blocking roads or peoples access but we managed fine!
Very nice and entertaining specially deer hunting sadly you didn’t catch any! Very nice all round enjoyed it very much xx
love this video! we're heading to Annecy in June, will be checking out the bike trail for sure!
Thanks for watching 😊 you must be excited it’s an amazing place!! Don’t forget your bike lock 😂
I always enjoy your lighthearted videos. Good to see you keeping up your exercise with "brisk" walks to the pub :)
Chatsworth is one of our favourite sites, if you can go to the Christmas market or the country fair, then definitely worth the experience. Derren got some great photos of the deer, but he took his long lens and a tripod and waited…it was freezing cold as well so I was not a happy bunny brrrr 🥶 Buxton is also a great site, but we are Peak District lovers, and been there so many times now. It will be nice to be camped out in Wales for the season, see something new and different 👍😍
Hi guys 👋🏻 Loved this. We went to the Chatsworth site in January 2022 and loved it so we’ve booked to go again in December this year. You saw so many deers - we only saw a few and the drone flying over them was great! Mark said you need to get a deer stalker hat 😂 We had a drink in that pub in Baslow (dark walking there and back but we did have a headtorch although it wasn’t very bright - we’re sure we saw a badger sniffing around when we were walking back to the site) and also ate in another one across the road. Think I remember seeing your Instagram posts on Lyme - it really does look very impressive. You two do get up very early for these sunrises! We’re more sunset people 😂 Great vlog guys, well done 😍
Thanks, yeah we’d definitely return to Chatsworth, glad you’ve been there. Such a treat to see deer, early mornings are amazing when it’s just so quiet! Need to invest in deer stalking clothing! 🤣 Lyme was a great place, huge grounds to explore so will certainly go back there. We’ve got a few of your own vlogs to catch up on so will likely do a good old binge watch of those 💕. Hope you’re both well and getting out and about!
@@rollingwithchunky3472 We’re good thanks, weather has been a bit rubbish down here lately but only two weeks til we go to Spain so we’re excited for that! No worries about catching up with ours, life can be very busy at times can’t it 😊 Are you two heading off abroad anytime soon?
So where exactly did you dump your waste when parked in middle of know where? Honestly you tourist come up hear thinking it's acceptable to just dump it out in the wilderness, you are bloody disgusting stop litering the land with your filth!! People like you are not welcome up hear you disrespectful plebs!
If you actually watched the video properly you would of seen we were on a campsite which had facilities for waste disposal!! Maybe you shouldn’t be so quick to jump to conclusions!!! I’m also sure a lot of businesses rely on us tourists!! But really appreciate your comment it helps with the UA-cam algorithm to promote our channel 👍🏻
@Rolling with CHUNKY no you wasn't the bit I was saying you was wild camping. There was no campsite near where you was
@@matthewboothman129 I can confirm during our entire trip we did not wild camp at all, we stayed in campsites every night! The location in particular that you are referring to is Altnaharra Caravan and motorhome site If you look at the drone footage you can see multiple motorhomes and caravans around the site. We also wouldn’t condone dropping waste anywhere that isn’t a certified point.
Hi what’s the campsite you were at in lake Annecy? it looks great!
Hi sorry for the delay the site was called camping du lac blu
@@rollingwithchunky3472 hi thank you, we also have a Bailey autograph 3 we went to France last year but we went down the west coast loved it, so are planning to do the French alps then down to the south coast this year.

Hi guys, another great video 😍 Everything looked great and fab weather. The castle looked really interesting, we like these sorts of places. The hike looked amazing, the pasty not so much 😂 That second campsite looked really good and so did the bike ride - nice downhill bit - Mark liked the car!! We’ve not done much outdoor cycling since last August!! I’ve not done any at all! Just like you with the running motivation this has helped motivate me to get back out there 😍
Thanks for the support guys 😊 think just a bit of nicer weather will definitely help!! Will be catching up on your cruise vids this weekend 🤩
Will be doing the same as you guys in mid June
It’s an amazing journey you will love it 😁 How long you going for ??
@@rollingwithchunky3472 doing it over five days so will be tight to see a lot of things but the best part is my brother in-law lives in Aberdeenshire so we travel to see him every year already done in and around the Cairngorms. The Highlands are a must this year for us and can't wait.
Great video guys. The Bealach na Ba is such a scenic road it’s a pity the weather wasn’t slightly better for you but a wonderful drive none the less.
Hi just watched your video of your trip to Annecy. Can I ask you did you take toll roads all the way down. What the cost if you did and what route did you take going this year fabulous video will be our first time in Europe in Motorhome. Thank you Kerry
Hi thanks for watching, We took the toll roads, they are much quicker if you want to get south and don’t have much time! We went from the Calais to Beaune had a stopover there then on to Annecy for 4 nights! Not sure on the cost of the tolls think it’s over £100 one way! we just went for it 😳 how long you thinking of going for ??

Subscribed to your channel last week and just getting the chance to watch some more of your videos. Glad you enjoyed motorhoming the NC500. Isn’t Whaligoe Steps incredible? Thanks for sharing.
It was a great tour around Scotland! One of the best trips we have done! The steps were great had chance to chat with a local who has lived by the steps all his life he told us the history of the area which was amazing 🤩 thanks again for your support 😁
@@rollingwithchunky3472 Yeah we spoke to the very same guy. His knowledge of the history behind the steps was fantastic.
Hi. Great video. What time of year did you do this trip?
Hi ya, we went the first 2 weeks of October Got lucky with the wether the first week but it definitely changed for the second week! It was pretty quiet on the roads and no midges!! Every cloud 😂
Watching in the gym and definitely giving me the inspiration to be here 👍
Thanks for watching😊 getting the hard work done in the gym makes these type of days easier and more fun! Keep up the hard work 👊🏻💪🏻
Fabulous video. That is my favourite route up Cadair to Penygadair. Have taken shelter a few times in the winter in the hut near the summit.
Thanks 😊 I bet that was quite exciting in the hut during winter!!
@@rollingwithchunky3472 pictures are weird as you can see moisture in the air. My favourite mountain in Wales. One time i met the warden in the carpark when i got down. Horrendous conditions. Apperently i was the only one up there. The wardens know roughly how many people are up on the hill. As you go the the gates ascending and descending on all major routes there are electronic sensors in the gate posts. That way they know roughly is people are still up there.
@@EddieHulme wow didn’t know about the sensors that’s pretty clever! It’s definitely a lovely hike, can’t imagine being up there alone in winter that’s good going 👍🏻

Hi. Great video! What did you do for internet/sim cards?
Thanks for watching! We have motorhome wifi installed (the company is called motorhome wifi) and we purchased a French sim from a tabac then it’s easy to just top up when you need👍🏻
@@rollingwithchunky3472 ok. Does that cover your calls in France too?
@@illtudjames not to sure the sim was just wifi for our router in the motorhome
@@rollingwithchunky3472 ok. I’m off to France in my camper for 3 weeks at the end of this month. Trying to work out how to make calls cheap/free when I’m there e.g. phoning to book a campsite

where did you empty your waste
Fish and chips of Lake District were awesome 👍.. Beautiful 😃
Lovely place and nice videos 😃👍❤️
Hi guys, just stumbled across your vlog/channel. Really enjoyed it. We hope to take ours to France for first time in April or may. May I ask some questions please? What was your itinerary and how long did you stay in each place. How far from tunnel to Annecy. Did you just “wing it” on your stopovers or did you book. Hoping to catch up with your other vlogs in due course. Thanks for sharing. Glyn.
Hi Glyn, thanks so much for watching really appreciate the support! We booked all sites before hand the main location for us was Annecy, which is about 8-9hours from the tunnel. We decided To take 2 night in BEAUNE on the way down to brake up the journey we love our wine so was a good place for us, then we had 4 nights in Annecy. On the way home to brake up the journey we did one night in Chablis (again for the wine) then to get closer to the tunnel we stopped one night just outside Saint Quentin so we left ourselves only an 1h30mins to the tunnel so we could get to the tunnel and home in one go. Hope this helps for your plans!! Let us know if you have any other questions 👍
Thanks so much. We are already UK MH club members. Would you recommend the ACIS card, or any others? Are they geared up for cycle hire in France? We may eventually get a cycle carrier for our van, but for our first trip we may just hire them. We will be away for 2 weeks so it would seem that the Annecy trip is well within reach. Best wishes. Glyn
@@glyntimmins8929 we haven’t gone down the route of the ACIS card. At this point we just worked out where we roughly wanted to stay then just used google maps and used the search for sites app around the area we wanted to stay. Annecy had quite a few hire places but the campsite was at the opposite end to the town apparently buses were quite easy to sort, yet we didn’t actually do that ourselves!!! 😊

Do you use any apps like Komoot to plan your walks, or as Mike says...Maps?
We do a mixture but mainly use OS maps and just plot out paths! Sometimes we go old school and get ourselves a guide book !!
