Trailer Conversion Inverter and Outlet Addition
The rainy season in Oregon has begun so my attention has been on other projects. About a month and a half ago I got the OUBOTEK 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter installed and today I installed an outlet to power a TV and some small appliances while we camp. Looking forward to next spring!

Cargo Trailer Conversion Interior Lock Install
Переглядів 389Місяць тому
Thank you for viewing and subscribing! We took the trailer out last weekend and one of the issues I noticed was that the man door wasn't sealed when locked from the inside. So I got on amazon and ordered this surface bolt lock to help solve the problem. It not only solved the air gap problem but it also gives us a way to be more secure inside the trailer. Here is a link to the bolt: amzn.to/4ei...
Simple Shaker Style Cabinet Doors
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Місяць тому
I am in the middle of a cargo trailer conversion and decided to build cabinets in the V nose. I'm utilizing shaker style cabinet doors for most of the doors. I decided to use pocket holes with my Kreg Jig instead of biscuit joints because I'm not as worried about looks on the inside. Both are very strong joints so you can go either way! Please like and subscribe if you want to continue to see t...
Cargo Trailer Conversion Simple Plywood Countertop Install
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
I decided to go with Birch Plywood instead of building a solid wood countertop due to the stability of ply vs solid. I didn't have an available way to make a template with paper so I came up with a different method. Shocking enough....it worked on the first cut! It was very nice to have it done just in time for our family camping trip to the Oregon coast!
South Beach State Park Camping Trip
Переглядів 57Місяць тому
Last weekend we took our first official camping trip as a family in our cargo trailer conversion to Newport, OR. It's not completely finished but we had so much fun! This is a short clip of one of the paths to the beach at this state park. I highly recommend this campground! The sites are extremely spacious. There was lots of open space and it was extremely quite....outside of sea lions and fog...
Cargo Trailer Conversion: First Official Camping Trip
Переглядів 887Місяць тому
We went on our first official camping trip in our CTC this weekend in Newport OR. The weather was amazing and the trailer was very cozy. It's a 7x14 trailer and we probably really need a 8x20 to fit super comfortably. Maybe someday. This video is a quick view of some of the features of the inside of the trailer. I'll include links to the products features below. 10 pack coat hooks: amzn.to/47Ja...
Simple Cabinet Doors for Cargo Trailer Conversion
Переглядів 587Місяць тому
Check out the simple but effective cabinet doors I fabricated and installed for my Cargo Trailer Conversion. I had some soft close hinges on hand from another project that never happened so decided to use them for this project. I made a few mistakes (which happens to DIYers) but shared them here to help us all not make the same mistakes! Enjoy and please like and subscribe! Links to products us...
Cargo Trailer Conversion Cooler Slider Install
Переглядів 6942 місяці тому
In this video, I briefly explain the steps I took to install a pair of 250 lb sliders to hold the cooler that we will eventually be purchasing. I missed recording some of the details of the install but it was pretty straight forward. I used what some call sex bolts which are essentially male and female bolts that fit into each other. These are commonly used in furniture. It is important to use ...

Cargo Trailer Conversion Step....I don't know!

Today I put on some Boiled Linseed Oil to finish all of the wood and protect it. It put a bit of a red tint to the wood but really made the wood grain pop! Still need to tackle the floor and build the rest of the cabinets but definitely making progress. Cargo Trailer Insulation Complete
Переглядів 4652 місяці тому
We are moving right along with our conversion! We got all of the insulation in and almost all of the shims for the ceiling. Unfortunately, my videographer son wasn't there for most of it so I apologize for missing details. We also have the fan in but I'll post another video of that install! One tool that I used in this video is the Wen Track Saw. I have a Dewalt table saw and a circular saw but...
Cargo Trailer Conversion Begins

After sleeping in the trailer by myself for one night at a youth camping trip, I decided it would make a great family camper! This is the beginning of the conversion.

We Got The House! |The Coleman Project
Good thing you have a color change now before you have other things built, this way, going forward you can simply use matching colors on other hardware and accessories to go with the red color, i.e. maybe now you can incorporate a floor color that makes sense, would have sucked if you used the linseed after everything else was done, then you would really be stuck But you did an amazing job on those cabinets!!
Thank you for your help
Those puck lights look pretty cool. What gauge wires do you use to install? Thanks
amzn.to/3Cmk0bU 16 guage. I used red wire from the lights to the switch in a series and switch to fuse box. I grounded the lights to the frame. I love the little puck lights!
@thecolemanproject3501 Good to know, and I appreciate the link! Thank you! Happy camping!
Great video but the music is a distraction.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll definitely take that into consideration for the next one!
How many sheets of birch plywood did you use?
One for the cabinets and one for the countertop.
Hello
I subscribed as I like your approach and layout. One bit of advice. You say “uhh” and “umm” a LOT. Otherwise, quality work and layout. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Rachel!
Do you have any plans for this?
I don’t have any plans written down. It was all in my head. Ha. Essentially I knew I didn’t want prefab cabinets and definitely didn’t want backs to keep down on weight.
I have enjoyed watching all of your videos. You make it look easy, which is a reflection of your experience and skill. Your calm demeanor and excellent narration helps lower my blood pressure. LOL! Thanks for posting these videos!
@@rs1961 thank you!
what the insurance?
Meaning how do I insure it? I have it insured through Progressive. I believe it’s $99 every 6 months.
@@thecolemanproject3501 really I thought it would be hard to get. Did you tell them its a converted RV tho?
@@danield-h1j not yet. 😄
If you flip the wood upside down….you will have effectively made a pullout tray. You’ll gain a few inches. Those inches matter in these compact builds! Or what I did was leave the front face off the shelf… then I could access the space under the cooler. I installed a slide out cutting board.
I’m probably going to do a slide out shelf over the cooler. If I flipped the wood over, the cooler wouldn’t fit in the tray. I do have a couple inches of space still under the tray to store something. Not sure what! Ha.
@@thecolemanproject3501 yeah if it doesn’t fit flipped over… you could still use the space under if you cut the wood. But I’m thinking more overland vehicles. Yours is right on the ground. So maybe not super useful.
cool idea.
I enjoyed watching you work and also listening to your commentary.
Like your honesty on the color of the ceiling, but it’s not bad warm tone.
Nice build! Can't wait to see it when it's finished. Greetings from Jamaica.
Also, did you glue the wood before you screwed them together? Many people do as the vibrations of traveling can cause the the joints to loosen over time without glue.
I didn’t. I have some on hand but I believe the pocket screws will hold well with the amount of use the trailer will get.
If you're worried about water leaks with a water pump, (pressurized water) you might consider a foot pump for your sink. The Whale GP0550 Gusher® Galley Mk 3 Manual Freshwater Galley Pump is one of the best. They also have a less expensive foot pump called the Whale GP4618 Babyfoot Manual Freshwater Galley Pump. Both available on Amazon for reasonable prices and top quality.
At this point we aren’t planning on adding water at all. Thanks for the recommendation!!
WOAH, NICE BUILD BRO, can't wait to see it when it's finished.
What wood type and thickness are you using for the cabinet frame/structure?
3/4” birch plywood. It does add more weight than other options but since I’m using the walls for the back of the cabinets, I haven’t added much weight. Super strong though!
Personally I’m impressed the ceiling has a warm rich look .
Thanks!
Beautiful work! Thanks for posting this informative video.
Thanks @rs1961. My son thought I was including too much detail. Well, sometimes when I’m looking for detail, it’s no where to be found!
What a load of shit
Looking good
Starting to look awesome! Great job!
It’s amazing that you know how to do all of this. Kiddos for Grant helping.
Keep the videos coming bro.
Love to see you and your family and excited to see the house progress! Also glad to see the canned lights. A friend of ours has been talking to us about putting those in our basement. Now I know what he's talking about!
Take away from this video- Love the "explorer" and the lizard (that was SO me growing up), I can see how being there is your happy place, and the can lights got me super excited!!!! (must be getting old) Can't wait tot show Brad the can lights!
So nice!
Looking really open and spacious! Take it easy on yourselves.
Can't find a single bin available to be dropped off in my area. Crazy days.
YAY!!!! My thoughts after watching the video.... (while listening to yet another mouse running around in our attic... ) Jealous of the barn! Brad and I are starting the process of restoring ours and I wish we were younger. Lol! Beautiful house and property!! Love it! TONS of potential. And last but not least, I'm positive we can get our Airstream up your driveway. :)
You definitely can and shall!
Congratulations! 👍🏾
