a freight train had stalled trying to make the grade going west thru Blair Ne. The 4014 was on its way home from the college world series in Omaha and was at the right time and place to help the freight train get over the hill.
That is a beautiful machine
The builder of this magnificent classic masterpiece beast would be so happy to see his amazing masterpiece still running and stronger than other locomotives watching from heaven. I wish I could give him a big hug for making this beautiful magnificent classic masterpiece beast.

Well....at least it tried, I guess. Thankfully the SD was there to get the job done. EMD didn't disappoint.

very little, you can hear it throttle up just a bit when the 4014 started to slip.
We have a train in are park I think he so sad not to be working.
The crew keeps the BIG BOY spotless what respect .
He has a full load behind and still has enough power to do the job.

Just wondering what the steam whistle means at 13:11---seems to be two long whistles. And then at 1:23 as 4014 is slowing down and approaching the stuck train, there is one long blast. At 7:05 there are three short blasts.
