I wanted to do something a little different. This is the same video for the first day of our trip up to Breakneck Meadow, but instead of including the music, I thought it would be fun to include only the raw audio from the recording of the trip. Just to give you a small glimpse into the behind the scenes of making these videos! Let me know what you think!

    I bought one for our vacation to the San Juan Mountains. It worked great. My only issue (that isn’t necessarily about this system alone) is that as a midwesterner hiking in the mountains, when I stopped after a big incline to catch my breath and get a drink of water, having to suck so much to get water while out of breath isn’t a great combination. 😵‍💫

    • @Everydaybackpacker
      @Everydaybackpacker 11 днів тому

      Yes, it is true that after a big climb it feels like real punishment to have to work for your water haha. As a former midwesterner who now hikes in the mountains I totally get it!

    I hike in the late afternoon and avoid midday sun completely. I also don't hike during the day at all in the summer months here in the Seattle area. I'm not Ginger but I'm a pale blonde with blue eyes (but I can tan) but I had a Melanoma at age 21 from growing up in all of that "healthy" sun in Southern California. I do the bulk of my outside activities in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.

      @@Everydaybackpacker It's VERY nice to be among the pale and pasty here in the Puget Sound region. It was hard to shun the sun in San Diego in the mid-80s when everyone was bronzed and running around in tank tops. I grew up hiking in the 8,000ft to 14,000ft Sierra Nevadas where the only sun protection was a white tennis hat and the shade of an occasional boulder on a sun-drenched 12,000ft pass.

    Just found your channel. Just got back from a trip in the winds. Like you we had to change our plans as the original plan was just too much. That gave us an extra day, so we spent a day just hanging out at lonesome lake/Cirque of the towers and day hiked up to jackass pass. We went in from the Lander Wyoming side which is much less "crowded" and once you get above treeline you have 10+ miles of trail all above treeline, until you drop down into lizard head meadows. It really is a spectacular place. Looks like you had a great time.

      Welcome aboard! Sounds like you had a great trip even with the change in plan. We definitely had a great trip even with our change. I think that’s why I love backpacking, even a trip that doesn’t go as planned is still a great time and better than time indoors!

    I absolutely love talking about gear. I also hate making gear videos lol. Since nobody watches trip videos, I just talk about gear in the trip video instead 😂 Force them to watch the trip video to get to the gear parts lol. I did one backpack review and it felt like I turned into some sort of an ambassador for it. That didn't sit too well for me. It's just stressful to make them.
