In this episode, we share our first impressions from our first passage in the Mediterranean on our Neel 45 trimaran. Nothing like a good shakedown cruise in 30-40 knots to learn your boat and find out what breaks. And for a little bonus content, we finally tell you the story about Darren's mustache. Absolutely awesome. I love what you did for your sailing application with a three phase and VFD, smart. I love my Bauer Jr compressor, petrol version. After each dive when I get home I roll out my compressor to my driveway and fill my tanks while I unload my vehicle. Been diving seven years over 500 dives and spoiled from the day I started diving in the PNW. It's a bit of an adjustment now that I am fetching more nitrox fills from the local dive shop. May have to get a stick and 100% O2 in my garage LOL Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
Amazing feeling..love Amel 👍💕
I usually heave to for cooking dinner. :-)
That's a good idea!
Hello, I just discovered your superb videos, we want to buy an Amel Maramu or Santorin, it's crazy how far you went with the Sharky, I subscribed
Thank you very much! We loved our Sharki :)
Hi, I also have a 45! How did you remove one of the cockpit tables?
We didn't, the previous owner removed it to make more room.
I would much rather cruise this than an Amel, but the elephant in the room is payload: I believe a couple cruising need to transport about 2 tons of gear with them. Dinghies, outboards, sails, dive gear, food, books, spares, tools, anchors, rope, chain, etc it all adds uo to about 2 tons. Can your Pogo still perform with that much payload? And to be clear I dont know the answer. I have chosen a 60ft/18m ultralight with a fully loaded displacement length of 90. I am always conscious of weight on board but we still end up at 17.5 or 18 tons cruising displacement. We average about 200nm/day
Amazing!
!!👍💚💚💚
There is something to be said about fast boats that out run hurricane and slow ones that get caught . Back in the 70s, i was a 6 we said our family Coronado 27 to Hawaii several times. One time we were getting ready to leave.hanalei bay on kauai. The truimp came in the nite before. We were loading the provision for our trip home into our dingy. When the captain of the truimp came into shore. I started up a conversation with him. Asked when they were leaving. He said as soon as we get a crew. The boat was a large C&C i loved it because i would sail by it every week in marina del rey calif . Where our boat and their was from. He ask if i could sail i said we came over on that. Point to our modest boat. He then invided me to sail home on the truimp. My parents left a day before us . But we passed them the first day out for us we rode the front all the way across the westerly's pegging the knot meter. My parent on the other hand got caught up by the hurricane, it wasnt forecasted before we left. And you had to chart weather by a marine radio that was o ly weather around the world back then. But it is nice. to be able to outrun storm.
No Pogo will outrun a storm. I have sailed plenty of fast boats including my own . To outrun weather successfully you need 270-300nm/day. Best idea is not to be in the storm areas in hurricane or cyclone season. Somehow in 40 years and 206,000 miles I have never encountered a tropical storm unlike many morons on youtube
Wow, what an exhilarating trip. Bet you're glad you had those reefs in! It would have been good to know how you coped with the shipping lanes. I've done the Channel at night in similar conditions, but a much easier route from Cherbourg to Portsmouth and with four of onboard - so well done!
Moustache is great,
What is the price of the compressor? What is the model actually
I was able to get the single phase to work with a mastervolt 12/4000/120. however that unit is not discontinued now so thanks for sharing. i may have to swap out for a three phase plus vfd if this inverter ever fails. very helpful!
❤😂
Braw
Valley cove ! My favorite swim spot is beneath the bronze plaque just along the shore noth
I would never do that in a small, confined space.
What happened to your Sharki?
Blue sky, good visibility, both at the same time in Maine, it’s good that you filmed it.
You didn't show us the valve opening sequence and closing sequence on the tank and the compressor
Hi guys. Just discovered the channel (ep. 44). Did you think it's possible to do the northwest passage is a multihull??? Thanks for your time. The channel is amazing. Cheers from Brasil.
My wife and I are considering taking the plunge! Sharki or Maramu is what we are thinking. Would you recommend? Why did you guys sell your Sharki?
Yes would definitely recommend, they're great boats! We only sold ours to pursue the sail training business we started.
The mustache scene was great lol lol
Just saw this is boat for sale and no more videos on your channel after this one. What happened? Looked like you were having a great time. Was looking forward to seeing your transatlantic trip on the Neel.
Amazing series you've made. What you found at the end of the road is the remains of a US Coast Guard LORAN station. It was moved to another site in 1984. I think the new site is decommissioned now as well.
What kind of a sailboat is this?
I’m glad to see the land sights and adventures. Thanks!
Hi bro nice video I see you are using faber tanks too and wonder why you dont use the low pressure 2460 psi tanks .They take less time to fill and are easier on your compressor.
I live in Canada. Dealing with government is like walking into a kindergarten classroom where all the kiddies have machine guns.
What dates were you in Greenland? Thinking of a trip this summer and planning now.
Nice boat. Are all the winches on this boat electric from factory?
You may have answered this before, but what is your compressor and where can you buy one.
Great video. I have to say I am ashamed that I live about 5 miles from the Northern end of Strangford and you have explored it more than me! So many questions for you. How did you get the boat here? Where have you travelled from? Are there any mooring fees or permissions required to sail about the Lough? (I am aware there are some restricted areas you need special permission to dive in.) I would like to spend a few weeks afloat on the Lough but maybe at a time when its a bit calmer. Glad you enjoyed the Soda bread. Nice plug for Warren, who owns the bakery who made them. Good luck for future travels.
Einfach nur wunderschön. Vielen herzlichen Dank. 👍😀
Bring a fishing rod-those rivers are full of salmon, arctic char, rainbow trout.
Excellent job guys :)
Sailed past the Needles last year on a Ketch with our Scout Troop, a fantastic trip, lovely to have this reminder. New subscriber :)
Best boat tour ever!
Awesome, great sailing. Thanks for sharing😊
Thanks for following! 😊
how come the boat is for sale? What happened?
Which is better, Trimaran or monohull?
Short Wave Radio?? I think you meant to say VHF (Very High Frequency), though you probably know that by now. Still have the boat?
Useful, thanks for sharing!
Wow, what an incredible adventure you're embarking on! Watching this video has given us major wanderlust and anticipation for our own sailing plans. Crossing the ocean from France to the Canaries is no small feat, but you both make it look effortless and enjoyable. We're glad to hear you're planning to provide more videos, as we can't get enough of your amazing sailing content. Keep up the good work, and happy sailing! 🌊⛵️
Can a air compressor used in a garage be used to fill cylinders?
Most definitely not. These are breathing air compressors which are very different than garage compressors. They are also filled to much higher pressures. Having extremely clean breathing air is important for scuba divers breathing air at depth because of the physics involved of breathing increased partial pressures of the breathing gas. A very small amount of CO or CO2 that wouldn't be a problem on the surface can be fatal at depth.
Sensacional!!!!!!!! 👋👋👋 Ganhou um seguidor!!!
Are you selling your Neel?
