On Sunday, 15 December Pastor Craig Baxter delivered 'Faith Completely Surrendered' from Genesis 22:1-9.
God tested Abraham by commanding him to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac, the heir of the promise, in the land of Moriah. Abraham obeyed immediately and completely but was restrained by the angel of the Lord at the last moment from sacrificing Isaac, and a ram was provided by the Lord as a substitute sacrifice of worship. There the Lord swore to bless him, which prompted the patriarch to commemorate the place of sacrifice as “the Lord will provide.” In this study we learn that those who fear God will obediently surrender to God all that He asks as they trust in His promises of provision and blessing.
1) God tests our faith by asking us to surrender our best (vv. 1-2)
2) God provides all that we need to obey Him completely (vv. 11-14)
3) God rewards our complete surrender by lavishly blessing us (vv. 15-19)
