You never miss a chance to stick it to Tiertex 😆
Low hanging fruit innit
oh yeah! here we go. sports time!
I think it’s beautiful
I found this game for a quarter at a garage sale ages ago. At first I didn't like it, I was very confused but when my mom got a smart phone and let me use it I was able to look up guides and appreciate the game. I wish I had found the manual much sooner.
Only letdown on the GB version is the loss of the licensed tunes used in the NES edition.
Only Twinbee we ever got on the US was on NES, a slightly modified version of Twinbee 2 on the FDS.
Tokimeki is also an awesome Casiopea song from 1990.
Shoplifted MK3 from a local retailer as a schoolboy. Not sure who came out worse for that one😂
@@LeftyPem that’s some sort of karma I guess 😂
The Flash for the original Game Boy by T*HQ, from 1992 (has 1991 copyright), is based on the short-lived 1990-91 The Flash TV series (itself was based on the DC Comics comic book Superhero character Barry Allen/The Flash), off of CBS in the early 90's. The game's followed approiximately one year after the cancellation of The Flash TV show.
With Pokémon Red and Blue's Catch Em' All Run. Where the player tries to complete the Pokédex feels like Doctor Strange using his powers to break the universe.
Love this game! Not even the SFC version has voice audio, but the gbc does is crazy.
With how headache inducing the Jeopardy theme is in the GameBoy Jeopardy game is. It made me curious about how it would sound in the Hummer Team soundfont, probably about as headache inducing as it would be if not more.
There's a strong association between the classic Westminster clock chimes and the school setting, eh?
For me, Fish Dude is the video game equivalent of being chased around a table. You're safe as long as you keep the table between you and your pursuer, but you're never far away enough from danger to give you any relief. Eventually you're going to get got.
@@kolpik3708 great analogy!
It is very nice visually, and more Goemon is always a plus, the franchise needs much more attention.
Good timing, as they just announced a remake on Switch. I've never played this series, but have thought about picking these up multiple times just for some eye candy in my cartridge collection, haha. I think Shiori in particular has captured the tokimeki of many guys in Japan over the years (I can sympathise). Nice to know the music is so good!
These two GBC games are graphically stunning, and even has a little speech in it. But then again the SFC and CD versions look beautiful.
I need to learn Japanese
The genre seems to have migrated to mobile phones mostly these days, but as usual, not necessarily in the West; it's one of those genres that just isn't very popular in Europe and/or the US. I will admit that I have very little experience with this series, despite being able to speak Japanese at a decent level. I wanted to get the PS1 one port of this game and the sequel, at the very least, and give them a go at some point - though from what I've seen, the first game especially has a lot of factors that go into which date you get, so much so that it's very hard to play without a guide. Oh well.
not really
I love freakin Arkanoid
This game is tough
Played the NES title. That one didn’t have Spidey!
I played the hell outta this game!!
I never understood why people liked this game. To me, it was just meh.
This pushed my nostalgia buttons. Somewhere back home I have a copy of this with a chipped cartridge and my friend's name written in marker on the back (I bought it off him, don't worry). I hated it at first because of the handling, but once you get the knack down there's quite a lot of skill and strategy to it. Would love to try it with 4 players one day (just need to find those other three Game Boy loving friends with a copy of the game...)
Looks like a pretty nice racer for the Game Boy. I didn't know Wave Race 64 was a sequel.
I was never good at dodgeball or any sport but I remember having fun in gym class despite sucking. I still think my elementary school gym teacher was unfair though. I had to use a walker until midway through third grade and he counted hits to the walker as a hit on me.
another shmup not-a-spaceship-because-you-jump game? Probably/ possibly better than Astro Rabby, too.
I just noticed this one's missing from the 1991 playlist.
Well spotted! thanks
I remember hating this game as a kid but eventually beating it
I think the presentation on this game and Super Black Bass on Gameboy really elevate the titles and make them something worth playing. The lure sprites are lovingly rendered, the animations for the player character and the advisor, they are all so charming. I also like that the games let you drive around to find your spots, even if it can take some time. Star Fish had a sequel to this series on GBA as well, called Advance Bass Challenge, and the spritework is even more beautiful there in 16 bit.
That baby is horrifying. What’s with that weird beak-mouth?
I think it's supposed to be a pacifier, though how a baby can 1) talk that clearly, and 2) talk with a pacifier their mouth, is beyond me.
I don’t understand how this channel doesn’t have more views and subscribers.
I'm tickled by how Brian appears to shrink and lose bits of outline while falling in order to fit those spreadeagle poses into the exact same size graphic.
I remember getting this for a birthday as a kid when it was new and how disappointed I was that the guide from GameFAQs I printed out ruined the entire game, because I'd never seen a guide actually ruin a game like that before. :/ Really though, the puzzles here are a little too arbitrary for me. Deja Vu is better in that regard, plus giving you more of a sense of freedom.
Absolutely solid little Adventure title this. If it doesn't bother you that it's a port of a port, and that the original MacVenture looked extremely different, it's a clear recommendation.
I quite fancy this style of adventure game; Japanese devs especially made quite a few games like this back in the day ('not' VNs, necessarily, though they were considerably more popular than typical adventure games there overall). Beyond Shadowgate, a direct sequel released last year, is quite good as well.
I've just started playing this. I've been using Aragorn. What does the green gauge at the very bottom indicate?
@@the_talking_muffin you level up once it’s full
Usually, the first thing I complain about in these eurotrash games is the music. Apparently, that's the least of it here.
Turn and Burn is so much worse. Second worst Gameboy game maybe but definitely not the worst.
Turn and burn is pretty foul
Not to burst your bubble but Poké has more than 4 results for attacks, it only has one of for texts. But damage-wise attacks in pokémon can do; 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 and 4
I heard the Famicom version of this has a level that's literally impossible to complete!
The spring is Coiley the Snake, there's Ugg and Wrong Way, Slick, and Sam. The latter two change the blocks back to the original color after Q*bert changes them to the colors required.
Finally, the serpent-whipping that started off your old intro!
This got ported to the Atari 2600 as Dodge Em, which back in the day I used to finish consistently (yes, an Atari 2600 game with an end, but no fanfare, just the game stops).
A good port of Sun, so good that the GBC version of Puyo Puyo~n (Yon, or 4) used the exact same system here, instead of the unique system the PS1 and Dreamcast versions used (it also used Tsuu rules as well, same idea the Rally Mode on the PS1's Puyo Puyo Box used as well). The GBC port of Yon though came in the clear carts, so sadly unlike the first 3 Puyo's on the handheld, cannot be played on a Super Game Boy.
I never found any versions outside of the PC Engine original all that good. The PC Engine version is just so damned good, and fun, that no other version had the amount of secrets it contained.
I met Baz (one of the developers of this game) when I visited the University of Bolton in the UK. When he was asked about the games he's worked on. He wouldn't give a straight answer or be very vague. He was one of the most disrespectful industry professionals I've ever met. He has a nasty habit of badmouthing everything and everyone around him. Now that I finally found his "greatest achievement". It makes me feel bad for all the students who are in his classes right now.
@@BadTwin holy shit they’re letting him teach people ?! That’s crazy
