How To Orchestrate String Murmurations
Переглядів 2,3 тис.11 місяців тому
Murmurations are not phrases, nor are they virtual instruments. A hybrid requires a hybrid approach. Think of it more like audio that you can split into individual voices. Then... get your computer to transcribe!

    Love this library, very inspirational so far in terms of quality one of the best out there! Would be interesting to expand this strings library concept, with dedicated separate instruments of sections each one one being its own library

    I have this library and just love it. However, I cannot get the Velocity Mode to work. I have a Studio Logic SL 88 Grand and no matter how hard I hit the hit, it does not initiate the gesture or change the direction of the arrow on the main screen.

    Can the key setting be automated? Like through midi cc?

    Anyone know if there's a good way to replicate tremolo with this library? Been playing around with it and still trying to experiment

    I'm surprised Logic doesn't have a split midi into separate tracks function like Cubase.

    I did not know Logic could that... I used Melodyne to do this... but not anymore, so much quicker. thank you.

    It was this video that got me off the fence to go and purchase it today. Here is a challenge/suggestion for the plugin programmers - Have a record mode (and/or MIDI file drop in) and then at the end of the recording/drop in have an export MIDI button to do what you have just done in this video. That would be so much quicker and open up a lot of possibilities to use different libraries and even trying it with synths. I think Cubase has a macro to extract the top notes, which I will investigate next week. For a poor keyboard player like me this plugin/concept is going to be so inspiring. Thank you and great to see you back Christian.

    I confess I am REALLY confused. If I select the SOARING SYMPHONY gesture and play an Amin chord, the 'gesture' plays a C#. I thought the default setting was the key of C, so why is there a C# in the gesture? Or am I making a schoolboy error?

    Damn cool for Logic. I hope there is a way to do that in Cubase or other DAWs.. ProTools and DP are still very active in Hollywood and other film music cities.

    Brilliant! But we need keyswitches or a way to switch these modes using a DAW midi cc message

    For us people beginning our journey into sound and music, could you possibly do an explanation video of the terms 'Con Sordino, Sul Ponticello and Sul Tasto etc. please? I realize there are subtle differences in each but can you describe them in detail so that my logical mind can take it in?

    • @pianoomann88
      @pianoomann88 10 місяців тому

      "Con Sordino" = The strings are muted. A mute is attached to the strings below the bridge; "Sul Ponticello" = the bow is played near the bridge; "Sul Tasto" = the bow is played near the end of the fingerboard. Hope this helps!

    In all honesty, String Murmurations sounds exquisite. However, it's just one of those instruments that you wish you could demo before purchasing, but I know that can't happen. This would be an instrument you have to work with, not against, go with the flow I guess. To think differently when writing and performing. This is not a conventional string library, and neither is your process. Adaptation is the calling, this is about discovery, to let go... Damn, I have been on the fence for so long my ass is starting to hurt hahaha

      i totally agree about the sound and the demo, and i find the price point a bit too high for that kind of risk (kinda like that other company) especially for 1st product

    • @justinreynoldscomposer
      @justinreynoldscomposer 10 місяців тому

      @@SnakeyOshio I actually ended up purchasing it. The price point is a little high for a risk, and also I forgot it was in pounds not in euros, so the conversion in my head from the US dollar was a little off lol! But by the time I had realized this it was setup and ready for purchase, oh well. I haven't had much time for a deep dive into the instrument yet, but so far, I am quite happy with it. I do like the blurs, they're great for horror/thriller and I work in that genre. They just came out with the next installment in the free Vaults plugin (R+D Strings). It's based off that, if your more curious about the Gestures patches. But, comparing them side by side, String Murmurations sounds a lot richer in timbre (more robust and impressive).

    First, I'm loving Mumurations! Playing it takes some figuring out but the results are unlike other libraries I own. I used the same technique here in Studio One. For other Studio One users, you can also highlight the event, right click and use "Explode Pitches." It's not the same as manually separating SATB voices for printing a score. Instead, each note gets its own track. This kind of separation can be fun for your Dolby Atmos mix. You can create a pointillist approach within the mix.
