Yes but this is shell cordovan (king of leather) from Shinki Hikaku one of the best tannery in the world
You have to buy thinner cordovan around 1.2mm(I didn't see less than that diameter). you can't skive split them yourself, because this leather's finish part if the flesh part. I saw some big japanese leather sellers can split and finished with Iron press and additing oil or chemicals. stitching part is not done nicely. by poking with the awl will not come out finest one.

many in North America, hong kong Korea UK amateurs can do it. some individual can do better than others. You have to look for the products online. But in Japan, you can easily get leather crafting tools and materials in their local shops
