Nice build! Will be following along and very keen to see how you go about the ducting work. I've got a mid engine, turbo build and am working on ducting for the front heat exchangers. By the way, the brake rotor is on the wrong side.

Have you check out the Scura Motorsport Time Attack build in Australia ? Tho it seems to have some unreliability issues at the moment with its K Series , when it has been going the lap times must make it one of the fastest lotus.
@@improvedae86 yeah you can't reliably make this much power with a k24 which is why we didn't also I don't know what transmission they used but if it's not the super high end state of or I can't remember the other one right now but if it's a quay they're just going to keep breaking
@@fastx_autosport Yeah the FWD guys throw gear sets , quaife parts and complete transmissions at there car's constantly . No idea how all those components are cheaper than actually getting a transmission to start with that can handling the torque loading. Have you guys spoken with ZTR tuning as they have over 1000hp with there 2gr .
@@improvedae86 no, we just wrote the check on this to mountune to build the engine to that target, it has a bunch of custom stuff they did. Then Tim Whitteridge specced the turbos and me and him will tune. I really want to import a bunch of $15k trans that are way better then the quaife for FWD just not sure how to get started with a reputation since I dont have a FWD drag car or know anything. There's for sure a good solution for the 500-800 HP guys that isn't that much money. It's running on an 800 HP RWD drag car for years already
@@fastx_autosport I think when researching GR components ZTR had done a lot more work on the associated valve train issues and where running at a higher RPM than mostly anybody else with a GR. There are also the South Africans that seem to also be taking there Dakar trucks to some high RPM even at large stroke lengths reliably , they have obviously fixed all the the associated issues to make there engines hang together for massive distances. Yes it is insane how much more money people spend racing in any form with band aid solutions for transmissions never intended for expected use of racing. I would think just leading the way having a reliable combination would prove to people its the only way to go .
@@improvedae86 these guys did valve train stuff on the lotus gtn evoras as well, I believe a bunch of them were with cosworth at the time. We won't spin it that high though, remember a session at COTA is 2 years of drag use to the engine

@@jasonruch3529 it's a 2GR from a Camry and we're looking at about a thousand wheel horsepower for one lap
why twin turbo instead of single? it seems like a larger single would be better for packaging.
Better for packaging yes by a mile, but since it's a road race car it needs to have the best throttle response possible so we went with two smaller turbos. It's also cooler ;)
Nice looking build! If I may make a suggestion - I would highly recommend moving the fire pull and kill switch that are on the passenger quarter panel. Those are ripe for destruction/activation due to a very minor tap.
Jesus owning one of these they’re just about the most un-abusable cars known to man. I can’t imagine one holding together four seasons under actual racing conditions
Thats why my race car has the OEM steering column and wheel bearings, and thats it!
@@fastx_autosport even the chassis. That red glue can start to separate from the chassis from simple stuff like hitting curbs and there's technically no "correct" fix for it.
@@JNatella I dont think that's true, have you seen it yourself? I doubt anyone's used an Elise as hard as I have and never seen a chassis failure
top of the line I have 2019 gt mustang with pedders coul overs w external canisters bc they are within my budget still high quality and high performance

It is and my personal car is more centered, but the intent for this car is for charity awareness so we want to be able to carry passengers

The steering column and wiper is from an 05 Elise, that's it! The wheel bearings are from an '11+

This is how truly great businessmen start their business. It's almost accidental. They're just so good at what they do it's hard for people not to come to them for it. I knew an old guy that "retired" to new south wales from western Australia and he had such a good reputation that he ended up opening a shop in nsw because so many people wanted him to work on their cars. Fantastic bloke. Best mechanic I've ever known. You could tell him the model and year of car you had and he'd tell you what was wrong with it even if you didn't know there was anything wrong. He literally told me that my holden astra was having computer problems because of the coils I had replaced and he'd never even seen the car. He was a wizard in my eyes.

I dream of this. Just isnt feasible this day and age. 35 an hour, everything goes to rent, gas and food. I could save 30 bucks a month; cant build a car on that.
I started my career moving to where cost of living to salary ratio was much better then in my home of Toronto
