Sam's Kitchen Chronicles
Singapore
Приєднався 18 вер 2019
Hello, my name is Sam and this is my UA-cam Channel. Here, you can follow me on my culinary adventures.
I'm a home cook trying to experiment with food, recreating dishes I miss, and running an amateur test kitchen.
I believe in the power of food to bring people together. Food is also an interesting talking point and matter for exploration.
I'm currently in Singapore so many of my current projects will be directly informed by that fact.
This project is an amalgamation of my creativity, passions, and quirkiness, with a tinge of 아재 (Korean uncle) humor. :D

The Only Jaeyuk Bokkeum Recipe You Need | Korean Spicy Pork | The Easiest, Best Recipe #koreanfood
In this video, I show you how to make jaeyuk bokkeum (제육볶음/돼지불고기), AKA spicy pork. This is a Korean BBQ dish and is a great alternative to the classic bulgogi and kalbi. I personally think this dish is a bit underrated and should be given more attention. It is so easy to make and it's delicious. It packs a lot of flavor with minimal effort and cost. This is a dish you can't go wrong with.
Ingredients:
2 lbs pork belly or shoulder or a mix
1/2 med yellow onion
3 scallions
6 tbsp gochujang (red pepper paste) (고추장)
1-2 tbsp gochugaru (red pepper flakes) (고춧가루)
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp rice wine (or mirin)
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp minced ginger
Garnish:
sesame seeds
green onions
Directions:
1. Mix all the ingredients with the pork until it's well coated. Cover and refrigerate.
2. Fry in a frying pan
Notes:
- You can add vegetables such as carrots or cabbage. It's up to you.
- Add more gochugaru for more heat.
- As with all KBBQ dishes, serve with the usual fixings: raw garlic, chilies, soy bean paste (dwenjang) (된장), pajeoli (파절이), kimchi, etc.

Where do you get the meat from
Big in the the south
looks awful but prob tastes deeeeelicious! nom nom!😊
I love scrapple but I could’ve went my whole like not seeing how it’s made lol I know it’s scraps but seeing makes me almost not want it for breakfast with some cheese grits and fried eggs with toast 🤤
Boom boom chicken is 🔥
Just watched your other scrapple video. Its really cool to see how its made. When i was stationed in california i missed having it, but the amout of work it takes to get it made is crazy. However, i would probably try to make it one day.
As a fellow delawarian thanks for showing how this is made. Would be interesting to know if the amount of work was worth it. Cost of scrapple at aldi is about 3 dollars.
Missing the olive oil
Great job. My wife from mid atlantic says this looks just like the Scrapple she grew up eating.
I’ve tried your recipe today and it came out very tasty and very crispy, thank you 🙏
Wonderful
👶😍😍🥰😍😍😍😍 Nice Baby
The music is too invasive
Looks so delicious!!
So sausage is kind of a mix of everything that no one wanted… And scrapple is a mix of everything that wasn’t good enough for sausage? Do I have that right?
I grew up in MD near the DE border and scrapple was a breakfast staple...I moved away and couldnt find any and was so disappointed. I'm in AL now and can find in Publix stores....I feel like I'm back at home...
Love some scrapple interesting recipe very similar to how my dad made it
if you add the cormeal/buckwheat while the liquid is cool it won't get lumpy, so you don't break your arm stirring...
why is this the only sourdough bread mukbang on youtube i can find.. sourdough bread is my biggest craving ever😭
Same furstration as you have. We got more people eating straight up butter sticks than people eating sourdough. Most asmrs of sourdough bread is just them fondling the bread and not even eating them.
Hey, if you still want a good bread eating video like this one, there's a video titled "chaotically eating half a loaf of Bulgarian bread" on UA-cam. The texture of the bread is similar to this video, if you wanted to check it out ☺️
Sam, what are your thoughts on brining?
It’s Amish SPAM®
nothing better for breakfast than a side of scrapple or on a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese.
This looks fantastic!!!
Thanks!
Nice job, thank you. I'm from Delaware, now live in Colorado. I cannot find scrapple here, will try to make it if I can find the parts.
You're welcome! You can do it! Lmk how it goes!
Where’s the butter.. I could never eat that dry!!
But it's sourdough...
I don't know why I'm here
Haha nice
rapa or hughes for the win... livermush and liver puddin is basically the same inj the carolinas
So interesting how different states have their own variations!
I can’t understand a metric recipe, I’ll find somebody else to get a recipe from
Nice job Sam, i grew up on scrapple & porkroll here in south jersey ,& still wat both usually once a week
I am wondering if one could use a pork butt instead of the other parts....boil it down, save the broth...or perhaps one could simply save their bones trimed from pork chops...
Yea I'm sure all that is possible! Make it happen!
Duck your background music track more!
he ain't lyin Kyochon is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fully agree…. jaeyuk bokkeum is SO underrated 😍
So cute little guy👶
Hey Sam, I'm back to revist your scrapple making video. My number one problem with trying to make homemade Scrapple is finding a butcher shop that actually butchers whole hogs so I can source the ingredients. I'm kind of jealious that you're there in Delaware and I'm here in Utah. UGH.
Well, I haven't lived in Delaware for over a decade and both of the scrapple videos I made were done in Asia. Where there's a will there's a way. On the other hand, unorthodox pork parts are probably easier to find in Asia than in Utah. Good luck!
Looks yummy
Thanks! It was indeed delicious.
i want some!!! 🎉🎉
Maybe you'll get to try some one day!
Thanks for this video, as well as your unabashed love of scrapple.😊 Born and raised in Philly and Habbersett is my favorite brand. I have been searching for the spices used because I want to attempt a vegan version..I know sacrilege 😅
Hey, all I have to say is: vegan scrapple is better than no scrapple. :)
Of course you will say that look what you are I guess next you will say you're not racist but ok
Nice video just in my opinion maybe don’t add music next time
Hello! I can't wait to make this for my family. I was wondering if you had a recipe for the soy sauce garlic version! Also cafe soho is still very good here in Philadelphia :)
Awesome! Let me know how it goes. I don't have the other sauce recipe off hand. Maybe I'll do a video on it in the future. For now, you can Google it. I'm pretty sure the recipe is out there somewhere. Glad to hear Soho is still good!
Definitely gotta try this love my hocks and offal🥰
What the heck! You're the first video the showed up when I search how to make scrapple!!! What a small world!
Haha love it
Re dip in the batter for second fry. You’re welcome.
Ayeee Cafe Soho! I swear every Asians in Philly that knew about Korean fried chicken popped their cherries at Cafe Soho. Then we got Bonchon and now Bonchon reigns supreme over in Philly. I hear Cafe Soho is still good but the quality has dropped a bit. But their other food is still great.
Haha thanks for the update
Thanks for sharing with people who may not know the magic of the loaf! I’ve eaten it( in moderation) since I was a kid. Rappa was my parents’ fave- not to much cornmeal.
KFC ain’t good at all. AA fried chicken will always be my favorite but Korean fried chicken is a very close second
perfect
May god have mercy on your soul
Great recipe. I love the food but I mainly follow you because you are a Blue Hen man.❤
