One of those few pieces where you have to use the sostenuto pedal.
It should be played with una corda pedal as well, but for some reasons in my room it sounds much better without it.
There are some lil inaccuracies as I didn't have much time to record this but I think it sounds well and I'm overall satisfied about it. Maybe I'll record it again when I decide to record the whole Première année altogether.

My relationship with repetitions is... Difficult. Sometimes I enjoy them, most of the times I despise them. I can tolerate the repetitions and play them a little different when I feel they're needed (not that Richter cared about that, and it worked fine anyway), I can't suffer them when I feel they're superflous... It's funny how Debussy decided to put the titles of his preludes at the end of every prelude rather than at the beginning in order to let the listener (or most likely, the pro sightreading interpreter?) to form an idea of his/her own before finding what the composer had thought that piece was describing. This mazurka reminds me so much of Chopins waltz op. 34 no. 3 (which I played here ua-cam.com/video/blcd0I0exGk/v-deo.html), and in particular of the second theme (ua-cam.com/users/shorts5cf61suC-lc). Praeludium 0:00 Fugue 1:09 The E major prelude is a pastoral, an elegant tripartite song 12/8. In the 3 voices fugue things get tricky. The middle voice has a lot of awkward positions and I often had to think how to spread it trough left and right hand (more often than other fugues I've posted so far, anyway). #piano #bach #welltemperedclavier
