Welcome to Adventures at Home! We are a couple 60+ Boomers that recently upsized to a 4 acre property that the Lord blessed us with. Our journey on this property has led to many adventurous experiences. Join us as we provide entertaining and educational content on this fixer-upper property. We have been remodeling the house and fixing the yard and working in the forest. We also recently started a small firewood business. We aren’t experts at anything and many of the things that we do are being done for the first time. We aren’t afraid to try new things! Maybe you can learn and laugh from/at our mistakes.
We will be creating videos on our projects/experiences and hopefully these videos will help you on your projects! We like to engage with our subscribers and answer questions and advice. We enjoy reading viewer comments and we try to answer all comments quickly We would like to make this a community! We hope that you enjoy the videos and please subscribe, like, share and comment.

If you ever do this project again and don’t have clamps to hold both of the side of the panels tight together you can use a bit of super glue to temporarily hold the door together while the wood glue dries for a hour also acetone in a little spray bottle works wonders when using it with the super glue to speed the glueing process up
Thanks for the advice!
Sometimes, people make mistakes. A real thief won't pay for nothing. Maybe just an honest mistake... or a theft.
He did come back a week later and paid. I posted an update video on this.
Can you provide a link to the tongue jack?
I bought it at Northern Tool. Here is the link: www.northerntool.com/products/ultra-tow-xtp-fast-action-square-tube-trailer-jack-2000-lb-sidewind-swivel-mount-bolt-on-47253
@@AdventuresAtHome1 thanks!
Don’t know if you’ll see this, as it’s 2 years later, but, THANK YOU! I’m putting in an outdoor sink, and need that 3/4 to 3/4 adapter. I asked for help at Lowe’s, but nobody ever came to help, after waiting 1/2 an hour. Anyway, I got what I thought would work, but it’s national to national threading. I took a screenshot of what you used, so now I can get the right piece. This tidbit is so appreciated. Also, I hadn’t considered the water pressure to the sink, as all the rest of the line I’m running is irrigation tubing, and attached to a flow reducer. Future crisis averted!
This is the description of the part at Home Depot: 3/4 in. MHT x 3/4 MIP or 1/2 in. FIP Brass Multi Adapter Fitting Model# 801709
Thank you was wondering about the wires.
You're welcome!
Wow dude you got did this just totally the wrong way.
A 100 ft roll of polley pipe is only about 50 bucks. And I would have drove through the basement wall into the basement and connected there. And on the other end I would have done copper coming out of the ground. PVC won't last exposed to the weather.
It's been working great for a couple years. I probably don't have over $50 invested in this solution.
@@AdventuresAtHome1 yeah but things cost less then. You should price it out today it'd be more like $400
@@lostintime8651 Where do you buy your supplies? Home Depot has 10 foot sections of the 3/4 inch PVC pipe available for $5.61. The 100 foot rolls of poly pipe are going for $107. You aren’t making any sense.
Tolles Gerät, zu einem guten Preis!
Thank you!
I found the same splitter, a return at Lowe’s for $300. I got it home and motor started fine but hydraulic cylinder wasn’t working. I messed with it and watched a video, the controller had a govener/stop on it. On a whim I took it off so the controller could go fully back. This solved the problem. IDK why, perhaps the hydraulic fluid wasn’t getting fully into the cylinder. I’ve had it for a year now working great! $300 well spent. Great little unit.
It's a great little splitter that can split large rounds. If you can get it on the splitter, it will split.
I have a easier method. Use a long hose....
Not so easy! That was our earlier method.
I have both of these saws. My 450 cuts about twice as fast as the Ego. Also a 5Ah battery on the Ego will only get through about 4 cuts like the one in this video before overheating or just running out. I love the Ego for anything 10" and under, but the battery life drops exponentially with larger trees.
I agree that the 450 is faster, but the EGO is a lot more convenient and it is my goto saw.
Hello . I have a question. Hope it isn’t a dumb question but here goes . I’m wondering will the light pole still work because it has a photo cell if it isn’t hardwired to a power source like my house
Hello Scott, The photo cell is used to determine if it is daylight or nighttime (i.e. light or dark), in order to switch on the light and switch off the light. You will still need a power source to power the light bulbs. In my case, my light requires AC power, thus wiring to the house. There are solar pole lights available if you don't want to go through the trouble of wiring to the house.
I just reconnected my 2-way hose splitter and turned on the water. It's great to have pressurized water available in multiple locations on the property!
How are you sir, mostly modeled my extended spigot after your video. Thank you! The difference was I didn’t bury my pvc pipe. I live in Connecticut. The line has a downward slope and I added a ball valve drain at the lowest point so I would imagine that I won’t need to use an air compressor to blow it out. But my question is, how bad is it that I didn’t bury my lines? Will it deteriorate/crack in the sun (in the summer) and in freezing temps even if there is no water in them?
Hello, Since you didn’t bury your PVC lines, the sun will deteriorate them over time. I don’t know how long it will take for the sun to do significant damage. Also, make sure that your slope in steep enough to drain the line thoroughly. One dip in the line could cause water to pool and later freeze and crack the line. You may want to consider burying the lines slightly below the surface to protect them.
@@AdventuresAtHome1 You convinced me to bury it. Thanks for the help sir
I have a brain of a 5 year old so I have a dumb question about the Y connector. So will the faucet that's connected to the house with the Y connector always be turned on for the other spigots to receive water? Or do you keep that shut off and only turn on when you want to use your extra spigots?
I leave the house spigot turned on all of the time, so that the other spigots receive water. Once side of the Y is for the spigots and the other side of the Y is for a hose on a reel.
Dawgpound!!
Thank you for the video. Very insightful.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello, I was intrigued with this chipper from watching your videos, so I ordered one. I just got my GTS 2000 today and the manual calls for filling the gearbox with gearbox oil 80w90 or 85w90. I can't find anywhere on the machine or in the manual where that is supposed to go. Would you happen to know if this is a needed step or mot? Thanks for your help if you read this. Peter
Hello Peter, I haven't filled my gearbox with oil and I don't recall seeing anywhere that this can be done.
Why do people on these videos feel the need to talk so much and give so much unnecessary info
You can 2x the speed or forward through it. That's what I do.
Back your plow in, put some wheel dollies under the blade and you can easily push it around in your garage for storage or for hooking it back up. You have a straight shot out the garage that way. Snowblow 6ft infront of the garage door. Makes it easier to turn the snowplow around. Install an end brkt.on the driver's side. Order a 6" x 6ft rubber belt and bolt it to the top across the blade it will help "roll the snow" to the right open side on a tilt angle..
Thanks for the tips!
Looks good. Do a video with branches.
Will do
@AdventuresAtHome1 thank you. I'm looking in buying one 😬
I have a Polaris 700, add 300 to 400 lbs in the back, it ready helps. Look for old car tire chains at yard sales or a friend garage junk. I used some “new” G78 x 14” chains (from the late 1970s) that had small bars on the cross chains. They fit great, only had to shorten the side chains 6 “: Fantastic traction now. Nice video
Thank you for your informative and helpful comment. I will definitely add weight to the back when we get another heavy snowfall like the one in the video. The last two Winters have been so mild, I haven't installed the plow.
Legend!
Thank you for your kind comment. I hope that the video helped you. Have a great day!
That 450 Rancher should run way better than it was in this video. A buddy of mine has one and I’ve ran it several times and it rips for a bone stock 50cc saw.
I agree. It was running rough that day.
Why did the battery flash red?
It was either dead or almost dead. Sometimes after it flashes red, you can get a little bit more juice out of it.
21 inch
Haha! You are correct! It was 21" against the garage door. I just re-watched to confirm. We haven't seen snowfall like that since I created this video! I didn't even install the plow on the Ranger last Winter. Have a great day!
Why would u even try to push snow that deep that snow blower would do all that u needed to do then clean up with the plow
I use the snow blower for the 22' by 22' concrete pad in front of the garage. I can do a neater job with the snow blower in tight areas. Also, I don't want to risk plowing into the light pole. he plow is used for the other 250' of driveway. Thanks for your comment!
"Coyote" = Owl.
Correct! I have since heard many coyotes howling in unison at night. Have a great day!
The Ranger 570 works great as a snowplow! I have plowed as deep as 18 inches with it.
The Polaris Ranger 570 is great at plowing snow! It's fun and fast!
The 2018 Ranger 570 is the best tool I ever bought! Plowing through 18 inches of snow was a challenge, but it performed well! It’s not a $100k 4x4 truck, but it does very well! No issues after 5 years!
good vid mate, Just wondering on how is thet G372xp running now? still going or had any issues with it at all? Thanks.
Thanks! The G372XP is running well! No issues! The Rancher was running a little rough in that video. It should have cut a few seconds quicker; however, it is a smaller engine. I was just curious to see how it did against my $169 clone saw.
This is a great wood chipper if you are looking for one. This is NOT your typical big box store machine. This is commercial grade and it weighs 500+ lbs.
If you are looking for a wood chipper, I highly recommend this one!
The fake Husqvarna went through that nice piece of cherry almost as fast as the Chineeese took to reverse engineer the real deal.
They didn’t have to reverse engineer anything. The patent expired.
What snow blower model is that it worked pretty good?
It’s a 1997 Yard Machines (MTD) with a 10 HP Tecumseh engine and 24” plow.
This is a nice case, but I would like it deeper in order to hold more chains.
Hey Tom! Your making some high quality bundles great job👍👍
Jerimiah, Thanks for your comment! Bundle sales are great this year! The only problem is that I can’t make them fast enough. I’m getting back to making content and posting on YT after a long siesta. It was a busy Summer.
Did you find out how they were getting in your car? I have them in my truck and I would like to figure out how they are getting in and start that process in addition to trapping them. We have gotten three so far.
They probably climb up the tires and go into the engine compartment. From there, they can work there way through the firewall and then into the passenger area.
Very good idea , thank you for sharing ! 👍🏻🇺🇸🔥🪵
Thanks! Have a great day!
How well does it handle green vegetation? Green vegetation would be something like a corn stalk, or some green shrubs. Can the chipper pull in such green vegetation without clogging? Do you think this can take the place of a chipper/shredder? I just placed an order for a Yardbeast chipper/shredder with the same 14HP Kohler engine, but if this Jansen chipper can do almost everything a chipper/shredder can, I might just cancel the order for that on Friday and order the Jansen 2000 instead. What I like about this Jansen chipper is the large hopper and the large throat and, the narrower footprint.
Hello Steve, The Jansen handles green vegetation well. The only time it had an issue was when I tried to shred Linden (basswood) logs. Linden is very wet, tough and stringy, and it wouldn’t shred. Eventually, it would clog the chamber where the cutting wheel spins. It wasn’t a big issue, I just removed the chute and cleaned it out. I hope this is helpful.
@@AdventuresAtHome1 Thanks, very helpful. How well do the blades last for you? Have you had to change the belts yet?
I haven’t replaced the belts and they are in very good condition. The blades are double-sided, so they can be removed, rotated and reinstalled. The blades are getting a little dull; however, I have chipped tons of logs. This is definitely a commercial quality machine.
@@AdventuresAtHome1 Hi, Tom: I called Jansen USA several times to ask them some questions, but they were either too busy to answer the phone today or they were taking the day off because of the holiday. I just placed an order online for this Jansen GTS-2000 Pro to take advantage of the Black Friday 10% off sale. Is that a handlebar at the top of the hopper? Does the handlebar allow you to pull one end of the machine down to balance the weight on the wheel (using the wheel as a pivot point for the center of gravity) and easily roll the machine around by hand power?
Hello Steve, I use the handlebar to swing open the inlet chute to clean it out if it gets jammed. It jams occasionally if you feed logs in too fast. I just published a new video on it chipping scrap firewood. I pull it around by the towbar, by hand to position it. Otherwise, I tow it with my side by side. It is a heavy machine, around 500 lbs.
Would you be able to tell me the dimensions of the hitch receiver?
It’s a 2 inch receiver.
Thank you sir!
You might have thought you got a good deal at $699, but let me know how your back feels a few years down the road. I must have seen you bend over and lift with your back, not your legs over 56 times. I am older and wiser. Good deals are something that saves your back. I love my AMERICAN made Swisher H/V splitter. Was it pricey? Yes. But well worth the investment. I can get parts for it very easily unlike that Chyneez junk. Good luck.
Hello Joe, I’m 66 years old and have no back issues. I have split about 40 cords of wood with this splitter over the past few years. Yes, a lift would be nice, but I wasn’t looking for something that would last for several years. Well, it has lasted a lot longer than I expected and I store it outdoors. Anyway, I think it was a great value at $699.
I’ll be doing similar. My door will be cut back further due to the location it’s being installed as a laundry area door. I’ll try to video as to share.
Great! I hope that it goes well for you.
Ohio gets more snow than we do I wish we had lots of snow so I can play with my ranger xp 1000
We had very little snow last Winter and I didn't even bother to install the plow. It would be a lot of fun with an xp 1000! The 570 gets the job done, but you may have to take a couple cracks at the high piles of snow.
Thank you Tom
You are very welcome
Why do you need to evacuate the water from the line ?
Since the lines are only buried 6 inches, the water will freeze if the temperature drops below 32 degrees for an extended period of time. The frozen water will crack the lines.
@@AdventuresAtHome1 thanks for your reply
@@G-Ovalle You could also put a sprinkler system drain valve on the line. An anti-siphon valve will prevent contamination of your water supply.
Thank you! Now I have a faucet in my backyard!!!
Great! Don’t forget to flush the lines before Winter!
Great video. Finally someone who did it right on UA-cam! Thank you. I'm doing this very soon. Again, great job!
Thanks! I hope this helps people. That's the only benefit I get out of these videos, since YT pays me nothing.
Great video. I’m putting mine in this weekend. South Florida
I hope everything goes well with your installation. We really like it.
Nice job .
Thanks!
