From the VERY first moment I saw the prototype of the 8350-series buses parked @ the South Shops @ the CTA's 77th Street garage, I initially thought it was going to look pretty bad out on the streets. Eventually, however, from the first time I rode the bus, it started to look better and better. The 8350s have tinted windows, which are reminiscent of the RTA/Pace's 8200-series Grumman-Flxible buses that entered service in 1979, three years before I EVEN first saw the light of day on 02/23/1982, (which is my birthday, incidentally), traditional rear seating from the driver's side to the curbside 😃, which is better than the split rear seating with the floor-to-ceiling shroud on the right side on the now-retired 6400-series buses and the window on the left side as you boarded the bus, and the, oh, two seats facing the rear window -- and last, but most definitely, not least, those clear windows on either side of the bus (as I was getting sick and tired of looking at it!), and paper advertisement holders on either side of the bus (unlike on the 7900-series buses, where there is only ONE on the curbside). Thank you, CTA, for ordering the new 8350s!
