Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission is coming together to make a difference by sharing the stories of people with lived experiences to change the understanding and challenge the stigma of poverty.
Voice of Change: The Story of Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission Round Two
This is the story of round two of the Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission and how a new group of commissioners emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic to tackle the most critical issues of their communities.
We brought commissioners from each of our themed working groups back together to tell us how sharing their stories has changed the understanding of poverty locally and been vital in the creation of projects which will have life well beyond the commission.

Reflections from the launch of The Tameside Poverty Truth Commission
What a really interesting role and pilot. The range of people and organisations which are connected with this role and its purpose are so broad. Thankyou for sharing this experience out of the Poverty Truth Commission Wellbeing Group. 'Every county having several of Lorna...' is a good challenge for us in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
I find living on uc with my young son bloody hard sometimes I don't think I can cope with it bloody sending bank statements ID I don't know how 2 do it uc they said we could stop Ur money
12 months later and chrismas is here again and things are worse not better, i have dreaded christmas this year, theirs is so much i cant afford this year. 😢

7:21 ''It is not disobedient, a nuisance, nor selfish to want a better, more fulfilling life. A fulfilling life can be achieved by acts of attentive listening without stigma or judgement.''
6:59 ''Not giving poverty in all its abhorrent forms truthful considered attention amounts to a considered betrayal, either that or an outright considered denial.''
6:22 ''Attention to the manifestation that is poverty requires concentrated societal effort by anyone with a conscience.''
5:50 ''It is a right, a right to live within acceptable means, not hungry, not cold, not a statistic but to be respected humanely.''
4:59 ''Poverty is a scandalous chapter in our lives, it is a loathing that exists.''
1:29 ''The soul and heart of any compassion is action.'' Therefore, we will stand together to be united against poverty, social degradation, and homelessness.''
What a brilliant video What a courageous woman ❤
I wonder if this man has internet more than 2 days a week and things for him to do? Remember if he does not then it is unfit for habitation, well it would be for the illegals.
So sorry that this guy passed away ,he seemed a lovely man 😢
Hold on, is that woman complaining about £300 a month mortgage? Surely she means weekly, right!?
❤
Don't you just love the way people make life terrible and hard for people… We're constantly harming ourselves why? Insane agreed? Selfishness… We do things to ourselves to make all of us suffer so much more than we should. I'll never understand why people can't do good for each other for all of us
Quite thought provoking
Every thing costs so much. What happen. We the people are at our breaking point. Wait another10 years this will be the good old days .
I would like to see a full list of benefits, council tax relief? Free prescriptions? Free dental treatment? PIP? Travel allowance? Also, if couples are married did they skip the in sickness and health vow or replace it with only with carer's allowance?
Would you do over 35 hours of work for £76.75 a week? Carers Allowance is a pittance
Maybe try worrying about the place being a shit hole, Labour council by any chance?
Judged ......then tossed out of the house because of "religious beliefs". The parents needs a to do a stint in prison for their primitive behaviour.
Unfortunately, if a claimant case isn't in the training manual it really does seem like the nitwitted BO is incapable of working out the real situation, eligibility & priority etc. As usual, claimants wait for everything depending on current political whim's. You really have to figure out a way of buying your own. Money talks, poverty squawks.
We struggle to stay warm. Had our propane tank filled a month or so ago, cost $900.00. Electric bill 500.00. my God, how do most folks take care of themselves???
The older lady has such a brilliant idea of a group of friends sharing meals at one another’s place once a week. Taking turns entertaining once a week makes perfect sense. For each night there will be heating and food one place at a time.
Thank you for sharing this, your experiences have been enough to damage anyones mental health. Thank god you are helping others through what sounds a minefield.
Why is that school in Morecombe not having the heat on ? My children's schools further down the Northwest coast are constantly got their heating on. It's disgusting when a school cannot have their heating on. Should be a given.
Dear Sir, I am just seeing your vlog today. You are not alone. There are people who care and can help. Please reach out to them.
Awesome
Having kids is an expensive lifestyle choice, glad I don't have to have that burden.
My kids are all grown up, although my youngest daughter has moved back in. They are expensive.
@@statikk666my parents of 4 children solved that problem by favouritism…spoil one deprive the others…
Lard for the birds has gone up from 36p to 60/70p. Just fat! I got an electric throw for Christmas, it has really helped a lot, so cheap too. I got some flasks so I can have tea instead of boiling the kettle all the time. I use a slow cooker, also buy more frozen food which is much cheaper
Ordinary people trying to live ordinary lives. This is hard to watch their struggle.
sell your supposed 400k houses ? domt come at me for charity.
Thank you for highlighting this dreadful situation you have found yourself in. Workplaces and benefits are inhuman. I wish you peace in your life. You are an amazing person.
UK is screwed so out of the touch towards the poor, Oz little better, but unfortunately no resources left in UK the government is broke
they have to choose between food or smart phone.
It could be a present. People do have birthdays etc. Strange comment
This is an odd comment as you have to have internet to apply for benefits or jobs as well as banking disappearing from high streets. This is digital poverty and nothing to be ashamed of other then ignorance and misinformation of course.😅
@@dolleywhite4438 they only use the phone for social media

Where is the money going to come from ?

Michael J Fox has it and also an internet page. Ozzy Osbourne has it too. One out of 500 people will get Parkinson's disease.
I take vitamins and Actimel which help a bit.
At least you have your husband to care for you.
Not all people with Parkinson's have tremors. I don't have tremors.
I think the worst thing is insomnia.
I don't think Parkinson's gets any better either.
I get PIP too and am LCW on Universal credit.
I have Parkinson's disease too. It runs in our family.
I have Parkinson's too.
Sorry to hear of your experience with your employer and the benefits system.
Sorry to hear of this man's plight. He doesn't say what work he did as a younger man and if he ever reconnected with his father or family. Hope life improves for him. He seems like a nice person.
So cruel. This lady and her husband are doing their best. That is their home. There is nowhere to rent. Does the evil rich bastards that run your beautiful country care if a disabled person is turned out in the streets? No. As long as they still have their luxury lifestyle they could not care less. Time for a full scale revolution.
Bless you dear soul 🙏🏼
I’m definitely no better off renting and in a similar position
Blessings for all these people
