    May Mr. Boul rest in eternal peace. He was such a great artist who lived a long nd extraordinary life. I will never forget how honored I was to meet him at an art show of his at American University.

    Doesn’t the flour and sugar eventually attract bugs to your bowl?

    For heaven’s sake, turn down the music! I can barely hear the talking. I like this project. I have tons of Christmas fabrics and I think I’ll make a sample bowl and see if it would be doable for a senior citizens class.

    How long should I cut the glass for dangle earrings?

    • @visartscenter
      @visartscenter 2 роки тому

      Hello! Here's what the instructor says: Earring length is personal preference, but I believe the fused glass elements for the drop earrings in the video are 1 1/4 " to around 1 1/2" long. The green squares on the work surface behind the project are 1" squares. So, the blue pendant is approximately 1" x 2". Let us know how it goes - and thanks for being part of our creative community!

    Hi from Blighty. A really useful video. It’s a good introduction to the different types of glass and finished they give. Thanks.

    You keep referring to glue but began by saying mod podge. So do you mix the two? Why not put your first layer down with wrong side facing up (which would be the inside) then the second layer, right side up which would be the outside. Four layers seems overdone and leaving the foil leaves me nervous..

    • @visartscenter
      @visartscenter 3 роки тому

      The instructor only used mod podge. As for the layers, you're welcome to try it your way, but this is what has worked for us in the past. possible if you do it the way you suggest that the foil won't stick.

    Do you need to let each layer dry before proceeding to the next...or can you continue to add layers while wet?

    • @visartscenter
      @visartscenter 3 роки тому

      Hi! Yes, it's best to let each layer dry completely before proceeding to the next.

    • @bonnie_nelms
      @bonnie_nelms 3 роки тому

      Thanks. Before I saw your answer, I made a couple small bowls...did about 5-6 layers in one sitting 😱 They seem to have dried okay...I put them in gas oven with just the pilot light. I’ll know for next time!

    • @visartscenter
      @visartscenter 3 роки тому

      @@bonnie_nelms That's okay - that's really the only issue, is they take longer to dry. Glad they turned out well!

    Thank you Master Bi for sharing this video. I have a couple of question about your technique. At what stage of clay dryness do you start constructing the teapot? Looking at the video, it would appear to be a hard leather hard. What kind of slip do you use for joining the parts? Watered down clay body? and do you add materials to the slip, sodium silicate (to deflocculate), vinegar or epsom salts to flocculate? I was really impressed with your technique.
