Just a quick soundcheck. I've done a longer testdrive with it, tested different setups for finding a comfortable spot and balance. MV's are known as uncomfortable, but with the right settings you can make it work better. First important step is reducing the tire pressure to 2.3bar front and 2.4 bar rear, both cold measured. Second important step is to increase the rebound damping due to the hig...
The Legend: Buell S1 Lightning - powercruising with trailbraking -

Short ride with a 1998 Buell S1 Lightning. Engine is still stock, rear damper ist the original White Power version, for which I was able to find the right suspension settings before giving it up. This is not full throttle, because it was 30 Degrees C in the mountains and I only wanted to show how great this bike is in powercruising and handling. That´s what they were made for, I believe. I also...

Short testride with the heavily (not hardly (-; ) customized Buell S1 Lightning from a friend of mine. Big Bore 1430ccm engine, Ducati front fork with Brembo Brakes and PVM wheels, Wilbers rear damper, plenty of other specs for getting lighter and lighter. It´s not full throttle, because I`ve ridden it just 2 minutes on unknown roads for testing his suspension work, and we had to change some th...

skip to 2.00 min - Testride Yamaha MT09 brandnew. Unbelievable, how bad the suspension works. Way too less hydraulic damping especially at the not adjustable rear shock results in massive bouncing while normal riding on streets. This is causing unsurely riding. Choosed lines can`t be hold.

Short testride with the TRX 850. Powerful midrange engine, makes a lot of fun. Thanks to my buddy Thomas for lending me his beauty to get some pics and sound to safe. Unfortunately I wasn´t able to get good sound records by using my GoPro 5 and a Zoom, so this one is only the reserve shot with my old GoPro 2.

Yamaha TRX 850 with stock exhaust Please use headphones to hear the best possible sound from the stock exhausts. Beautiful youngtimer, which still makes a lot of fun (60000km). The engine is surprisingly powerful in midrange and very good balanced in all areas of rpm. The suspension isn`t up to date anymore, but that would be easy to fix for a suspension specialist. Exactly the right toy for so...

Are you running gp shift? If so how did you make ot work ?
@@onlyoneromeo I did use a modified Ducati Shifter directly pinned to the sidestand switch, by using the shifter feature in ECM Spy
@@instrukta dang I'm dying to see what that looked like 🤔
Sick bike! I got an S2T myself. Buell is the only bike for me
Love the xb12. It’s the only race bike that is in the power-band from idle.
X1 brother here!
I hope you are still enjoying your Buell. Thanks for the info on the bike.

Nice road... Still can't find a bike that handles as well as my Buell XB12Ss. Except maybe a Ducati Multistrada, but the wheelbase is longer so the turn radius is not as tight, but that electronic suspension is on a whole new level of awesome. I wonder how it will compare to the 2023 EBR 1190.
Lovely riding, very nice lines and smooth. Smoother equals faster.
this shot is 9 years old, the latest one half a year ago on same conditions you can find on my channel. Way smoother, because I'm getting older and have less power ;-)
Wow, you must have the front pre load wound all the way out.
Yes, I´ve balanced the sag between front and rear. You don't know how the sag is now because you don't know which springs are installed. Cornering was way better and okay after that changes, you can find it on my other TRX videos. Further problem was to less damping of the rear shock, which causes pumping while exiting corners. Time for a service.
Safe Mode. Wer langsam fährt kommt auch ans Ziel. ;-)
On dirait bien le col de Rousset !!!
;-)
I’m curious what you thought of the bike? I have an RS I bought just before Covid, and have put 1000mi/1600km on it. I didn’t ride it this summer, partially due to losing my house to a fire, but the RS and our other bikes survived. To me, the hardest thing to wrap my head around is how easy the RS is to ride and how ‘normal’ it feels. Using my R1M as a comparison, they couldn’t be more different and I’m faster on the RS and don’t have to work as hard. The RS has better brakes-though that isn’t saying much, the R1M’s brakes suck. Front end feel is about the same, but the R1M is more stable and steers heavier. I’ll take the race-shop Ohlins in every riding situation over the electronic consumer grade Ohlins on the yamaha… Then there’s the engine… it feels like about 160-165hp at the tire and is slow over 130-140….. but holy shit is it fast EVERYWHERE else. This is a bike that will loop over backwards on it’s own in 3rd gear…. And the throttle at opening out of corners is very, very soft-the chassis doesn’t get upset when you crack it open to exit at all.. you can go so much faster than you would on any other bike… you roll it open and it comes on soft and them progressively pulls harder and harder until you get to the next corner so fast that you miss your braking point……. Every time I get on this bike I have to recalibrate my brain because it works so much better than my other bikes.. you can be so much more aggressive with it and it steers beautifully into corners while trail braking. IT’S A JOY TO RIDE. The slipper clutch is worth mentioning too. I have had Bikes that had slipper clutches since 2000 and I never really felt them working other than to say you can feel them take the edge off of a downshift. The Suter unit is so good you can go from 6th to first and it just tidies up the rear and and let’s you attack a corner like you’re immortal. Really love the bike and glad you got to ride it!
10 years are gone since this testride, but I still remember very well.
What did you remember about it? Likes? Dislikes? How would you rate it against bikes of the time and bikes of today? IMO, it is a big step behind in too and power and electronics, but as good as everything else is, I just don’t care. The midrange is so strong that i get to corners so fast I am always late on the brakes anyway and the drive off corners is so good that if it does spin the tire it is controllable because the torque falls off the higher it revs. Very easy to steer with the throttle. One thing I don’t like is the factory race exhaust.. it is painfully loud. My right ear will be ringing before I leave the neighborhood if I don’t seat my earplug properly-I’m sure it hits the midrange too.
Great riding! What kind of quick shifter you have installed? And what gear indicator do you have? I have Healtech GIPRO but it doesn’t always show the correct gear especially 2nd and 3rd.
Quickshifter is Dynojet, and gear indicator I don`t know anymore, mounted a few years ago. :-)
There's only ONE problem with this video: you're not on a Buell... 🤣
I´m done with racetrack riding, this was only a short test with the resume that I no longer have the power for this kind of riding with 170 PS. Haven´t been riding fast racetracks since years, and: you`re done :-)
I like the way you blip the throttle when downshifting
It`s safer to control engine brake with the big pistons
Gawdayum that ol boy can ride
Now that’s how you do it 👍
For some reason, that reminded me of tron! 😂. That was some nice riding!!!
Where did you get that steering damper? And how difficult was it to install?
selfmade brackets: difficult to make :-)
What's the power n torque came out to be? Belt or chane?
It´s not mine, but I believe around 130Nm and over 100hp. I´ve also tested a bigger one a few years ago with more cui, and about 145 Nm. It´s still Belt.
One of the meanedt looking bikes ever.
I had the same problem with my K1 as well. Different tyres or suspension adjustment solved it.
Nice bike, why did you lower the front forks?
To get better balance and neutral handling. It´s the stock rear damper.
Iv been lucky enough to own and ride many different bike but this shape DL as got to be the fun bike iv had.iv got the klv now I'd never be without one of these
Man, that looks SO fun!
Hi, what are you kill times like throughout your gears, I like how you can still use the QS even in the lower rpm

I’m not normally a fan of on-bike video, but I really enjoyed that. 👍👍👍 France next year on my XB12? 🤔 Oh yes 😁
is that the foot pegs dragging?
Hi there . . . . enjoyed the video. Were is this piece of road?? In the States I presume. I haven't had a bike for quite a few years now but am working towards a Buell. Had a m8 leave his Cyclone with me for a month awhile back & I made full use of it. (Insert emojis of big smiles & thumbs up My entire bike riding life was spent on British - Triumphs & a couple of Beezas but for the price of a 1969 -70 era one (if ya can find one even half pie original) I can source & import a Buell from the US. That's the plan anyhow - either a tuber or an XB. For now, until I scrap the $$$ together, I'll have to sustain myself with watching your (& other peoples) onboard vids. Cheers.
This video was filmed in france :-)
I just got back from Deal's Gap (on my Buell XB9SX) and your video reminds me of that experience. Thanks for sharing it!
A very beautiful bike
man that must be a blast to ride. sounds so awesome
Is that a Daytona steering damper?
it's an LSL with a selfmade bracket
Fantastic video, the best example of a vstrom being accelerated and the sound is MUCH better then I thought! I'm wearing good headphones! Thanks for sharing.
Too much motor rattle for me...I'd be embarrassed at stoplights
you gonna love stoplights ;-) and once you have been used to it, every normal bike will make you miss something
You better stick with a boring inline 4. I had a BMW K75 three cylinder. I missed the 'living' aspect of the Buell motorcycle. Everything jumping, not boring.
just ride one tote you're entire opinion will change.
Looks very flickable only weighs about 450lbs
Hi, I was wondering what year your Versys is from? Thanks!
For me it seems like the 07,08 model, around that time. But I'm not 100% sure so I could be wrong
Nice riding style. Smooth.
hell yeah brother!
What kind of mods you did to install those bars? Did you change the Brake line and clutch cable for longer ones to fit those bars?
Yes, sure. You have to use the cables from the S Model: Clutch, Brake, Throttle.
Badass!
