As a child living in Georgia my dad and I caught hundreds of bluegill. We gutted them and fried them whole and the fins and tails were some good eating. Presentation was bad but the eating real good!!

The few that I've talked to are catching their Crappie suspended over deep water (40-50') with FFS. I fished this past Sunday (Laber Day Weekend) by shooting docks and locating brush piles in the same area that you were trolling. There was bait fish around but, nothing on the brush. I don't have FFS. I fished from 5am-11:30am with nothing but a puny bass. By 11:30 the big cruisers were out in full force and it was time to retreat lol.

Nice for seasoning but those fins go down too.Definitely remove the guts 1st.

I just filet them and Lea all the bones on the carcass of my pan fish. Walleye are different.
