No the station wasn't open then. The only day it was open when we were there quite a few poeple seemed to be browsing. The opening hours are:-8-5pm Monday to Saturday and 10-4pm Sundays and Public Holidays so plenty of time to sample a coffee or two! Should be a discount for neighbours too! SCT came in through the loop yesterday as well and it sounded so good with 2 CF's on the front. The word is there is a broken rail on the main line still. Have a great weekend Gregg!

I have a feeling it was a winery in Langhorne Creek but I really don't know sorry-it turned off at Mt Barker then I lost it! Not being scrapped so that's a big plus.

Yes I agree, people with a passion for our railway history making a difference for generations to come.

I live near 2 rail lines and can hear them from my house.

If I am honest I would rather it was looked after by a group similar to Friends of Belair Railway Station. I take comfort from that the fact that it isn't in disrepair like Mt Barker Junction and the shop will deter vandals.

Sometimes help is needed just to tackle the Adelaide hills section of the line. Renting a little extra muscle is more financially viable than purchasing extra locos that are not needed for the rest of the journey... I think.😵‍💫🤓

@@martythemartian99 , they seem to be using hire stuff too often.

@@vsvnrg3263 The company I worked for did the same thing. We had a huge fleet of busses, but would always hire extras because it made more financial sense than letting expensive vehicles sit around when they weren't earning money. Trucking firms do too.

They don’t need locos they actually have so many that they are storing locos that are only 10 years old

They must be short of locos or the maintenance time to fix all of their fleet when needed. They did take on the freight service from Perth to Melbourne. maybe they will order some more locos but meanwhile it's great to see RailFirst doing well. Bowmans were sold to Qube so they sent the EL's back to RailFirst.

No it's quite different but they are both RailCars. The Bluebird is more luxurious inside as they were made for more long distance passengers. The RedHens were more commuter railcars.

The Bluebirds are also slightly longer than the Redhens.

@martythemartian99 I agree Marty it's a disgrace I was always totally apposed to the sale of South Australias country rail services it's turned out a bitter disappointment not only to South australia but also to Tasmania However ,Tasmania took what remained of their rail system back into public ownership as TasRail it's doing very well I believe, as to South Australia there is not the same enthusiasm from either political party in SA to get back into regional rail services , I've always maintained there is a demand for a good service from Adelaide to Port Pirie,Pt Augusta and Whyalla but even that seems an impossibility Indeed Marty Sad . @@maxhobby1701 Well for what its worth, I'll be retiring in the next few years, and I'm already planing to start a campaign stretching from Boardertown to Port Augusta, to encourage people to push local members to bring back country rail. I think the hardest part will be countering the false message that SA is too vast, has too small a population, and everything can go on roads. I may fail, but I want to try.😏

@martythemartianrty MARTY I applaud your passion good man There is a demand for regional rail in South Australia but get it going ASAP as the years go by people (voters ) forget very quickly what they once had.
