1:11 at .50x speed hits damn hard Also, if you watch that fill at 2:30 in slow mo you can see that he hits the second rack tom in the video when in the audio he hits the snare. Each of those triplet runs starts and ends with a snare hit, but in the video he's only hitting the snare at the end of each run. I don't think he's playing the toms at al in the audio recording right there.

Absolutely wild to see Portnoy casually jam to this! So much going on and different time signatures! This song took me forever to learn but I’m proud I can get anywhere close to this beast of a drummer! I’m really mad that no one is talking about Portnoys vocals that echo/duet with the lead singer!??? I was so pissed once I learned this song only to discover he’s also singing while playing this 🥹 Insaneeeee! Easily one of the greatest drummers of all time! Top 4 or 3, without a doubt no one can tell me otherwise. Now I gotta go listen to Panic Attack 😂

The performance is good, but I always thought the bass drum compression gain was just WAY too high in this track. It overpowers the mix in a bad way. The higher frequencies are the problem; you want the bass drum to have that click sound on the attack in metal, but it's just far too much here.
