Oh my lord, Yellowface stressed me out SO MUCH. I would never in a million years do the things that this person did but the whole time I was reading it, I kept weirdly picturing myself in her shoes and I was freaking out. And ok. Allow me to be cranky for a moment. I have never ever EVER hated a book as much as I hated Perfume & Pain. I think on one hand I'm just over this very specific current crop of litfic characters, these very-online MFA-having Millenials (I guess? not sure. they're young) and their urban ennui and privileged angst and neurotic crises. I mean for god's sake, the last thing I want to encounter in ANY book is friggin Zoom meeting drama. Jesus Hotdog Christ! But on the other hand, I am super peeved because any perfume/fragrance/scent mentions or references in this book come across as afterthoughts. Scattered crumbs. Not even enough to tantalize, really, but enough to be strangely annoying ...and believe it or not, for a minute this book actually made me hate perfume. Which is quite a feat, because perfume is literally my biggest obsession. Ok. Please forgive my rant. But you did say at the beginning of the video to let you know if there was any book you should be throwing in the trash! I hate to be a Debbie Downer though and I don't want to end on a sour note, so I will mention that I see Annie Bot on the shelf behind you and I really super loved that one!

Yellowface is such a good book. The Women Could Fly sounds super intriguing! Perfume & Pain is definitely on my radar. The FOMO is real🤣 I absolutely LOVE The Book of the Most Precious Substance. I have the older edition, but now I NEED the new one, too. Love this video so much. You never fail to bring a smile to my face!

I have The Fury and The Silent Patient in my TBR cart. I've read and enjoyed The Maidens by this author, but I just don't feel compelled to pick up the other two. I listened to your spoiler section, and I feel totally validated in not picking up The Fury. I hope you find a thriller you enjoy soon.

I loved Lindwood Barclays' new one, I Will Ruin You, the audio is amazing bc its narrated by George Newburn, between the storytelling and his voice, its just 👌 I also really love T.M Logan. Lucinda Berry is 🔥 read One of Our Own and Under Her Care recently and they are new favs. You know me, I love a popcorn thriller/ domestic suspense the sure a purpose To lighten things up but good character and plot stories are where its at IMO.

PS. Girl! I gotta give u some thriller recs, some that have a slighter deeper and around better story line. I'll list some here
