I believe in all the natural remedies I think they can be just as good as prescription meds but then that's just me. I read that Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri) is fantastic for epilepsy.

I have dysthymia causes auditory hillutionation and dilliriam from the temporal lob seizures. And at times my epileptic seizures causes non convulsion. And tic tonic seizure. I was born with epilepsy and cerebral palsy. I have a twin brother, i was born first. My brother was born with no problems. I take phenytoin for my epilepsy, as a child I was on phenabarbatone, then at 14 i was put on Epilim 500mg. Which caused me to gain lots of weight. I went to live in Canada for a few years where I was taken off eperlim & switched to phenytoin. Which I still take today. As a child I had grand mal seizures, which doctors said I would grow out of. Which I did, but I now have petit mal. It' feels weird when I have it, i can hear all that's going on around me, but ppl and any noise, sound much louder, plus it feels like I'm floating on water. Before the seizure I get the smell like burnt toast. I can have a seizure at any time, night or day. Unpredictable. I feel a little confused when I come round, which lasts for a couple of minutes, then I'm back with you again. Usually a cup of tea helps me recover. My daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy. The neurologist was very confident about the diagnosis based, my Daughter had an EEG (no idea if it showed anything; we were tired and may have misunderstood what he said about that). MRI was negative for problems. For the past 4 months or so, I have seen weekly occurrences, making strange faces (this involved cheek twitching and lip quivering). Please let's change the understanding of what's happening. These non-epileptic seizures are REAL and are manifested because we have REAL traumas that are causing them. It should be called a MENTAL INJURY because the patient didn't cause the trauma. It was an injury that what done TO us that is manifested in many ways, such as psychogenic seizures. I've been traumatized even MORE than I could ever imagine by ER doctors, neurologists, etc. EVEN by EMT's on the way to a hospital. I can HEAR everything, but unable to respond. I hear you when you say I'm faking it or I'm just a psych patient, treating me horribly and making my symptoms even worse. I've had major bruising from HEALTHCARE workers trying to get me to respond to stimuli who seem to think I choose this... Please God, help the healthcare professionals, nurses, techs, etc, to treat this as a MENTAL INJURY. Treat us with respect that you would any other patient.

Hi. I've had major depressive disorder, PTSD, agoraphobia and anxiety disorder for 30 years now. I'm a disable veteran of the Marine Corps. It was approximately 10 years ago that PNES showed up. I currently have seizures a couple times a week. My PNES manifests firstly with tightening in my neck and a head tick. Then my arms & hands start jerking, then my torso & finally into my legs. If it's a really bad one, I have rapid eye blinking & stutter. I'm fully concious & can speak. I sweat profusely as the jerking & muscle tensing is so bad, I'm exhausted! Sometimes for days following. At first my PNES were purely anxiety & agoraphobia driven. No pain brings seizures on also. When it begins, if I can chew up 1mg clonazepam & wash it down, I can usually calm the seizure in 15 - 30 minutes. IF I catch it in the beginning stages! I have at times needed to go to the ER for an Ativan IV push. When PNES began for me, my GP had no clue what was happening to me. It wasn't until a few years later I was told the seizures were anxiety driven. Currently I have a new VA psychiatrist that's only seen me a handful of times. I hate breaking in a new shrink now that I've got 30 years of this crap under my belt. Oh! And the VA does NOT want to give out ANY benzodiazepines! I have some bottles of clonazepam left over from seeing my previous civilian psychiatrist for over 10 years. (Hubby got laid off, no more fabulous Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance.) The VA has given me Buspar to take 3 times daily & I'm tellin' ya ... my anxiety & seizures LAUGH at it! It does NOTHING for me! If this is going to be my life ... that my condition is "static" (30 years now under continuous psychiatric & therapy care) ... they are going to have to either give me what WORKS ... or I'm going to back to my civilian shrink @ $100.00 per 15 minutes of med management. Stress and anxiety and depression and trama can all cause an actual epileptic seizer... I believe our technology hasnt advanced enough to figure out the human brain. Ive done years of CBT EMDR ive been hypnotized and still have these 'episodes' i was diagnosed with PNES a week ago 12 years ago i sudfered an untreated TBI my Aura starts where i hit my head as a child all symptoms i have are exactly like a postal complex seizer yet notbing showed up on todays science technology... I feel like medical doctors failed me.. Ive been through plenty of stressful situations as im texting it feeling anxious amd stressed i dont feel an aura my episodes just happen.. Unless light induced or stress induced situations that happen postical can put me back into one. I need help and this diagnoses isnt telling me anything books videos webseminars all tell me the same thing. Lile DID or personality Dissorder us people with PNES 'split' when our bodys (not brain) have had enough.. 8/10 people diagnosed with PNES suffered from a TBI or Physical trama to the head in some form or another its about time Nero Docs start inspecting the core of the brain and not just the outside or push it to a phycological issue.

My little one didn’t start febrile seizures till she was 3 and now she’s 4 and gets one every time she gets sick Epilepsy has been ruled out by EEG(1 hour monitoring) From what I understand by 3 they should begin to stop these not start them.

A better option than any of the ones discussed here is going carnivore. I have completely cured my epilepsy this way. And Julie, you are so right, chemicals such as artificial sweeteners are poisons especially for the brain.

hi my name is Shannon I have a question for anybody who's winning to give me a information that might be relevant to my case. I've just recently had surgery not too long ago that less than your to remove epilepsy but after the first surgery they was something going off in my head and still happened to the day. Ingersoll I still like I'm slowly being suffocate adventure I still like my ability to move to where I'll be safe is a little compromise the pain going off in my head is like stone screaming. and then of the doctors know what I did and I am going crazy trying to figure out what it could be instead of living my life. Really good information here. I am in recovery after treatment for PNES/PTSD using CBT. This method decreased the PNES immediately, and in 19 months, the past 6 have had no seizures, only minor jerks or twitches upon rest at night. I would like to emphasize the effectiveness of EMDR and demystify it from it's thick clinical development. It is a very simple procedure anyone can do on his own, and Francis Shapiro who discovered it, is a good place to start with the scientific research proving it's effective for the majority of patients with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and a myriad of other emotional issues. I learned it on UA-cam, did it myself, and this is the ONLY remedy I could find for processing flashbacks do they would stop recurring. It also is equally effective for the processing difficult emotions (often leading to anxiety it depression...inner critic harassment). What happens is that the flashback or emotion decreases in intensity within a minute. And it may disappear altogether in a few repetitions. Often a different emotion or memory emerges next, and is processed similarly. There comes a point, within 5-10 minutes, when I sense that is all, or that is all I can do for that time. And I respect that limit. Also, you mention massage, which can be problematic due to trauma history and hypervigilance. My strong seizures left me in knots, but I was not comfortable with the idea of being in someone else's control, undressed, and silent. I ended up asking the masseuses if they were comfortable having a client with PTSD, who might need an abrupt stop, or a break. They were quite open about their inexperience, but appreciated my letting them choose. I ended up having 3 or 4 Shiatsu massages that relieved a lot of physical stress, and also they let me test my ability to trust being safe and vulnerable at the same time without being triggered. It is unclear what makes this work, but it is a kind of PE, if you think about it... combined with time limit and rapid eye movement. Group therapy was good for testing my ability to be in a crowd, get triggered, and practice CBT. But this was in the 4th month or so if CBT, when I knew the tools but had been isolated a lot. A good first step out of that isolation, and useful for developing sympathy for others too. The CBT group was mostly PTSD clients, but the seminar style limited our input, which was great - since hearing other's stories triggers everyone else. Mindfulness was hard to contemplate until the 5th or 6th month. I really didn't have the cognitive power to apprehend it until I stopped therapy and felt ready to manage on my own with the new skills. It really helps fight that emotional blindness! It also reminds us to uphold our boundaries...even with those who like to test them.

You'll be quick to prescribe CBD when big pharma manufactures it. My doctor (also from the Epilepsy Group) has no problems with prescribing medications that come with a host of negative side effects - both emotional & physical - yet you talk about negative side effects from CBD. Give me a break.

Attention and Memory was 2 of mine while in middle school and sleeping in class. one of my children was diagnosed with ADHD. one state helped my child, the other did not go with the 504 plan.(Re: ADHD) There has been no annual goals for me and my children regarding the IEP and 504, but only in one state again.
