    Why not teflon tape for the oil feed on the turbo? What are you actually meant to use? Loving the videos man! Really interesting seeing the internal workings of these turdbos.

      @@thevanvirgin because it’s an easy way to block the tiny oil feed hole into the bearing. Any type of sealant in an oil feed is a terrible idea. You don’t need to use any sealer. A self sealing flare (like on a brake line) or copper crush washers is all you need.

    Thanks for video. I had this same problem with my X3 N20. Both oxygen sensor replaced, catalyst cleaned nothing. After HPFP replace rich mixture gone. Very important oil change after HPFP replacement as petrol mixing with oil - nightmare.

    I don't have experience with running a turbo with flutter, but it isn't quite true that the pressure within the intake remains constant after lifting off the throttle. When the intake valve shuts, the remaining momentum driving the turbo will allow it to continue pushing air into the intake and the rapid action of the air hitting against the valve will cause a pressure increase. This can also be proved by thinking about blow-off/diverter valves. They open under a certain amount of pressure and the also open only when you let off the throttle. If the pressure remained constant, the valve would either always open or never open. With that being said, I do believe the main failing point of turbos are high boost levels rather than the absence of blow-off/diverter valves.

    People are always buying cheap turbos and wonder why they blow up. For one , very expensive turbos have been hot tempered AND cryogenic tempered and then ceramic peening . Cheap ones are made of pig aluminum full of impurities . And let’s face it, at least 80% of people don’t know what they’re doing. Here in Canada you can modify and tune your TRACK car all you want but not your road car because it’s dangerous to everyone else driving 150+ mph Borg Warner is not as high quality as they make out , especially the ones built in China

    I didn't know any of that (and I know stuff too). This is all going on my resume I've been under pressure to learn the ins and outs of turbos. I clearly see how damage like that blows.       Nope, but that sounds like typical valve stem seals. I have just replaced mine. Short video coming soon

    Here's a quick question you maybe can help me with: I have a Suzuki Alto Works and have blocked off the diverter valve. Turbo flutter was fantastic. Now it has stopped fluttering. I looked for boost leaks, cleaned the TB and PCV valve, checked all my hoses. It is very difficult to check play in the turbo bearing because of how small and hard to reach (only possible to get one finger on it so can't pull in/out) but almost zero axial play, spins freely. No flutter. Boost seems off but not very much (stays at 1 BAR rather than spiking up to 1.2/1.3 bar and coming back down to 1 BAR) still runs very strong--if I didn't know how it sounded before and what the gauge was reading before I would not think I had a problem. Maybe I don't, but I miss the noise and I wonder what happened. Weak wastegate spring? I disconnected the vacuum hose and capped off the upstream side and it made LESS boost, by a lot. Is the wastegate the "problem"? Could worn bearings allow the air to pass by the compressor wheel with less noise? I'd be interested in what you think.

    Good to see this really contemplating selling my 14a and buying an M6 they are incredible value for what you get although totally get you can't underestimate maintenance cost. I know its a totally different car but what your opinion on it ? Always interesting get the perspective from a real person if you know what i mean.

      Awesome car. Fast, comfortable and looks the part. Maintenance cost and time is no joke, I would only recommend a V8 M car if you’ra a competent mechanic to DIY or have very deep pockets. No other way around it. An S body is about 1/3 or 1/4th the cost to run and maintain in comparison. I can maintain both my S13’s for less than the M6. lol!

    I bought an x5m s63 engine, I am having the same issue you mentioned with rough idle and Both banks running rich, I have 92,000 miles. Did this fix your issues? also great video.

      It did indeed fix the problem. The only components that affect fuelling (and can cause an overfuelling situation) are - HPFPs, injectors and Lambda sensors. Maf sensors typically cause a lean code

    Im seeing a lot of these rebuild kits that say you need porting and professional CNC machining done, why didn't you need to do that?

      Some indeed do. This was a drop-in upgrade, meaning that dimension wise the parts are the same size as stock. Just re-designed :)

    Hi! I bought this exact Turbocharger and I can't rotate the compressor housing to properly clock it. The turbine housing moves easily by just loosening the bolts.. but the other side won't should I also remove the C ring??

    Is this true by: turbosmart. Turbo Flutter is Harmless? In short, flutter is the sound of a turbocharger trying to push air. However, failing due to closed throttle. Therefore, it dramatically increases the load on the bearings of the turbo. If it occurs at higher engine loads or boost levels, it can cause premature wear to your turbo.Oct 26, 2021
