God it's hard to believe it's almost been a year. I was 6 when I first saw DBZ, back in the late 90's. I rememeber when it admnd Sailor Moon were the only anime you could find on tv, it was such a huge part of my life growing up. I rememeber where I was for every time I first experienced a key moment in the series. When the BoG movie came out I was coming back to Job Corps from winter vacation and put it on out in the dorm common room and had damn near everyone crowded there watching Goku fighting Beerus, we got noise complaints from the other three dorm sections in the building but didnt care: we were too hyped. When my wife told me about his passing all I remember saying is "Don't ever fucking joke about that." and then she sent me the twitter post and I sat there staring at it for what felt like hours. DBZ shaped so much of my life, got me through so many hard points, made connections to so many people I know through it. Reading that post, I haven't cried like that since my father died back in 08. Rest in peace Toriyama-Sensei, thank you for giving the world such an amazing piece of art and for all the lives you touched with it.

30 years later and I am still watching dbz, thankyou rest in peace my friend 😢
