The Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) certainly put on a show on the morning of Friday 11th October 2024! The Aurora was so strong that it lit up the clouds, and danced across the sky when the clouds cleared enough to see. Even at twilight the Aurora was still visible. Enjoy this short timelapse video.

A full moon makes capturing the Aurora difficult - add clouds and its really tough. However the floodlit landscape and the clouds streaming past add to the spectacle and the Aurora does peep through towards the end of this video. Taken in Mardan Victoria looking across the rolling green hills of South Gippsland. Enjoy!

Well done! Excellent work! How many shots did you took for each section of timelapse?
Thanks! The number of shots varied but most of the time lapse videos took approx 200 shots. About 1000 shots all up for all the individual videos.

Thanks - using a Canon R5 with a Samyang 14mm F2.8 manual lens.
@@GeoffMartinPhotography I bought the Samyang for Astro work. Have yet to use it (on an R6). Spoke to Wayne S at Nibbles on Friday. Said that the Aurora is hard to see with the naked eye, but the camera captured it perfectly, he said.
