George Patton has always been my Hero equals to Alexander The Great and Julius Caesar (Patton reckons he was a reincarnated of a Roman General) my legendary Military Geniuses. Your presence with a WWII USA soldier visiting General Patton’s grave was very moving.❤✌️

Anyone out there know what happened to "Willie" after the Generals passing? Did he make it back home with the General's family in California? That pic of him laying by the General's trunks has always gotten to me.

Hi Helen, Why don't you make known the fact that your grandfather was responsible for the massacre of several Italian soldiers in Sicily who surrendered to the American army? Did your grandfather ever tell you about the time he had Italian soldiers shot for no reason. If not because they were enemies? What do you say to me in defense of your grandfather? Many Italians would like an answer on this matter, given that fathers, sons, brothers and husbands were murdered even if they were surrendering peacefully. Many thanks Miss Helen Patton

My father trained under Patton in the Mohave Desert for 1 year. The U. S. Army had never fought in the Desert. So my dad volunteered to be part of an experiment to see what was necessary to fight in the Desert. He was a machine gunner on a tank. So he spent the year in a tank. He had pictures of eggs frying on his tank. He told me that he only had a certain ration of water. (I have forgotten how much water he was rationed, but it was not much) He said that the water was for drinking, and wash himself and cooking utensils. My dad regretted not going to North Africa with Patton. Instead he went to the Pacific. He said that he didn't regret the year in the Desert, because he got extra training. It was his Uncle John, who fought in WWI, who took him to volunteered to be in a special unit. So my dad picked tanks, because you got extra training.

In 1981 I did my service in Arlon, Belgium, in the heart of the Ardennes, where the battle of the Bulge was fought. The winters here are not a joke. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been under combat conditions, the cold, the shelling, the fear, the pain, the blood. These men deserve our endless respect as we owe them our freedom.

thank you for sharing now i know why i.want to play an american saint nick. saint Nicholas of my birth country is celebrated with a white horse on december 6th. he would wear an arch bishop head gear. his faithful companion was a dark color skin his name is swarth piet (black peter) some think of him as a servant (slave). so in revisionist history he has fallen out of favor. someone has to watch the horse as saint nick gives small gifts to little children. santa claus of an american tradition comes on a sleigh pulled by 8 tiny reindeer with the lead being a red nosed ( alcoholic not likely this is a family oriented story.) the nose is red and shiny and in the dark it glows and reindeer did not allow Rudolph play in any reindeer games .......

As a rebellious 60’s kid with all the answers I couldn’t appreciate the likes of general Patton until I got a little older . I now recognize this great man as a hero and inspiration of courage , tactical intelligence and a healthy fear of God Almighty in facing evil.

Dad was under Patton in Operation Varsity Apr. 45' with the Corp of Engineers Combat Battalion. RIP Dad and the Great Gen. Patton.

Have not read all comments. If it is possible, could someone please inform the Patton family, that in the movie Patton, released December 4 in 1969, there is an obviously wrong translation of German. The closed caption translation (subtext) mentions Patton being called "gangster" by the german officers after the Sicily invasion. But they obviously do not say that. I believe Disney now owns the movie after buying 20th Century Fox, but not sure. This must be corrected.

My uncle Keith was a Lt. j.g. in the United States Navy, who flew a Corsair fighter plane off the U.S.S. Hornet (CV-12). He never spoke about his time in the service. Anytime I got to visit with him, he always had a smile on his face and laughter in his voice. When he was honorably discharged from the service the Navy let him fly a plane back home from the Pacific, stopping for fuel along the way, until he reached Selfridge AFB, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. He climbed out of the plane and walked over to where his mom & dad & sister & brother (my dad) were waiting for him. Uncle Keith lived until he was 90 years old.
