For me, its been a lifelong passion to learn to speak Spanish, and I’m still not there 😐 I don’t yet consider myself fluent, but I’m not far off
While I have learnt a lot of grammar and vocabulary, I definitely need more practice with the listening and speaking parts - and I think this video series will help me, and you, get better 😀
I’d like to give a huge shout out and all my love and gratitude to Adela Campallo as well Campamento Flamenco for this brilliant and insightful video clip 💞💖

Where does the remate go in the music? What is it for? What differentiates it from other steps? Is it 1 set of 12 or 2? Thank you!
Hey Tamera! Thank you for your questions! In this video the remate is 2 sets of 12 counts. The remate can be used to accent or punctuate the singing, usually to coincide with the caida. In a Bulerias letra this is usually at the end of the second sung line. If you need help on how the bulerias letra works, I have made a video on this topic, so check this one out: ua-cam.com/video/_mmUHLbTCNY/v-deo.htmlsi=DNmA04sKTzCce-Wf A remate is different to other steps in that its short, say 6 to 12 counts, and its percussive, as opposed to something like marcaje which is just silent moving/marking steps. And also, I give more information in the full video that this short was taken from, which might help you too 😍 ua-cam.com/video/79PUufYBL3Q/v-deo.htmlsi=3DwMy-UNFnTkbsEY Belinda x
Thank you for teaching this. Although I do not understand when the remate should be incorporated or where in the dance. Can you help me? Thank you!
Hi Tamera! I’m glad you enjoyed learning this step! When it comes to placing the remate in the dance, there are a few options. Generally speaking you will put your remate to finish in time with the end of a sung line, with the caida, which is the drop in tone of the singing when the singer is wrapping up a phrase. Not every sung line will sound like it has a caida so its just getting to know where to expect them based on the style of the letra and palo. Listen out at 7:49 and 8:01 in the video for 2 examples. Another good place is when the guitarist is playing a cambio, that’s like a caida for the guitar. The remate I do at 7:38 in the video is an example of this. And another place where a remate can go is with the respiro, which is a short break in the singing. There isn’t one in this video though. I hope this helps to explain a little. It can a tricky concept to pick up, unless you’re super familiar with the cante, which is the singing in flamenco. That’s why as dancers its also good for us to learn how the cante works too 😉 Thank you for your question!
Great job! I hope to see more taconeo and tabla de pies videos! Thanks!

@theflamencocoach well yes the footwork but mostly the entire structure

Zapateado goddess!! You should put all the parts together to watch the full dance!
Hello! Yes towards the end of this video I have put all the parts together - first to a slow version of the music, then at regular speed. Check the timestamps in the description for where in the video it is
You are a wonderful dancer!! Keep uploading more zapateado videos!!!
great video and utubechannel , I think your videos are only for female dancers
Hi! Thank you for lovely comment about my channel and videos, I do appreciate it 🥰 I would hope my videos can be useful for male dancers as well as female dancers - although you are right, I don't specifically detail the nuances or differences for male dancers... when it comes to flamenco, males tend to not be so flourishing with their wrist and hand movements, and probably more upright in their body posture. But that's not to say males can't use hands and wrists like the females, or the body movements either, these days I see that some males are enjoying those aspects of flamenco and like to express themselves that way. Its all personal preference! And also vice versa, females don't always have to use hands and wrists, a lot are keeping their hands straight and fixed some of the time.. Do what works for you 😊 Belinda

Watching UA-cam is the best thing in the world
😆 yeah, its the best! I'm getting a whole second education!!
@@theflamencocoach i agree
I love The combination of Flamenco and classical music combined. I hope to dance a piece of El Amor Brujo someday when i train more often. I was drawn by Flamenco from Bizets famous Carmen and how sexy it was to watch i wanted to do it but didn't have resources at the time so i danced ballet a refreshing memory of my youth of how i want to be a dancer but never made it far now in my 30s im taking it more seriously to dance Flamenco professionally someday in my life ❤❤❤❤. So far im learning from other teachers on line since unfortunately i can't travel or have a teacher to train in person.
Wow!! I love hearing this 🥰 How lucky are we that we CAN learn online now! When I was a teenager learning flamenco I had never seen anyone outside my class in Perth dancing flamenco, and I used to daydream about who are the best flamenco dancers in Spain, what do they look like, what is their life like, what costumes do they wear.. we didn't have internet back then, or even any videos 🦖😆 I have no doubt that you can achieve your dream of dancing flamenco professionally! Its an art form that gets better with age. Have you heard of Paloma Gomez? She was in the National Ballet of Spain, and has been to Perth for workshops a couple of times. She has a wonderful classical style and gives classes online too I believe, you might like to check her out 💃🏼 Belinda x
@@theflamencocoach I never heard of Paloma Gomez she sounds interesting
@@starmelodyelizabethb7380 Here is a link to Paloma on Facebook - she does a lot of flamenco combined with the classical music, its her specialty, so I think you'll like her :) facebook.com/paloma.gomez.9400

I love Flamenco talks I feel more educated than ever and helpful in my dance journey
Thank you for this feedback 🥰 Its so good to get insight from some of the worlds best flamenco dancers, because we can then put that in our dancing - thats how I feel anyway 😊

This is great. Is it commonly in other styles of Flamenco?
Thank you! I would say this step could be used in other 4 count palos, however it is more suited to the palo of Tangos - so you would see it used more commonly in Tangos, and not very common in other palos 💃🏼 Belinda x
I like it! But the turn on left food i find a bit hard to learn but I practise! I do not go as fast as you 😊but I broke my toe few weeks ago that hinders a bit also .. but I like your little lessons

A question dear coach .. this floor round circle that is on the floor where did you buy that?
Hi Astrid, yes I bought it from Vinci Dance Mats, here's their website: vincidancemats.com/products/flamenco-pad - I've had this mat for about 5 years and it is sooo good, it has a bit of cushioning which is good for your legs, no one else in the house can hear me practice, and I can hear myself practicing very clearly! win win 😀
