Before you do this: know you can just remove that spring instead of cutting it!!! Additionally i super glued mine back together when my latch broke in the same spot at the pin pivot thing

The switch can be repaired with tweezers. It gets bent or dirtied. The switch is a flimsy piece of metal that gets pushed down by the latch itself. You can clean it and bend it back into shape. It's easily visible and reachable without removing anything. I did this 1-2 years ago with great success. Recently a car service did something to it again, choked the entire assembly full of grease and it hasn't worked since. I'm trying to remember how exactly to bend that metal again. Until then, I press the "turn off intrusion alarm" button before locking the car, it's next to the buttons for parking-sensors/traction.

I forgot to update with my success. Google for "microswitch", that's how it looks like. It has a 3cm lever that's mostly flat. To fix it, pull it up with tweezers or anything. That's how you bend it back into shape. It has to be straight for most of its length, with a slight curve upwards at the top end. The way it breaks is that it gets bent down, so the lever doesn't press a small button underneath its base. That button has to remain normally pressed except when the hood is open.

I really like the design of Ford LTD Crown Victoria, especially the front part after 1984 when Ford LTD (1978-1983) line was turned to Ford LTD Crown Victoria line and they made changes to it's looks. The grille, hood ornament, bumper and headlights just have really nice look compared to any other car at the time (American or non-American) like Chevrolet Caprice. However, I give it to Chevrolet that they made better and sleaker looking rearlights for the Caprice which in the Crown Victoria look somewhat bland in the sense that those are basically just two big squares at the rear of the car. But otherwise Ford LTD Crown Victoria is the masterpiece of 1980s.

Thanks for the tips. Just finished changing all six plugs. Took about an hour total, front and back. The most difficult part was getting the boots off. Used anti-seize on the threads, die-electric tune up grease on the boots and iridium tipped plugs. I'm good for another 100,000 miles!

The owners manual says to change spark plugs at 30,000 miles. The reason being there is a waste spark. All the plugs fire 2 times per revolution because they waste a spark on the exhaust side. They get twice the wear of normal spark plugs.
